I've found the Hoka Rocket X2 to be just superb for Half Marathons. Responsive, comfortable and with a great race rocker. For Marathons I've always favoured the Adidas Adizero Pro 3, it's a shoe that needs some tinkering but once you get it right it hits the spot every time soI'm really looking forward to the Pro 4.
Yes the Eddbud will be doing Manchester. I’m from Ireland and skipping over in April to run the marathon. Hope to catch you for a photo. Cheers for the great content.
Hoka Rocket X2 is a marathon and 1/2 marathon winner for me! I’ve also been going back to my VaperFly 1’s and the Nitro Elite 1’s for 5k & 10k’s. Responsive and durable, never let me down!
Fast R Nitro Elite 2’s for every race distance for me Ed. Love them. Takumi Sen 8’s for interval and tempo sessions, occasional parkrun. They were no 1 before the Pumas. Before that, still using for easy runs, the amazing Adidas Adizero Adios Pro 2’s. With 800 plus miles they are still so comfortable. I’ve had to apply some replacement bits of rubber though. 😅
Great vid as always Ed, I'm a slow runner, though been loving using the Alphafly V1 for 5k, 10k & Half Marathon distances. Comfortable, cushioned, protecting & propelling shoe throughout. Vaporfly V2 aswell in the past for 5k's as theyre super light, propulsive & come in nice colour schemes. Love your vids in general, soothing & relaxing, Thanks Edd 👍
All my PBs are in the Superblast 2! I do have a new pair of Takumi Sen 9s though, so might throw them at a parkrun this weekend with your recommendation ringing in my ears.
Its crazy how many of us in this chat ate doing manchester 25. We will all be running together and wont have a clue who the others are. Either way, i wish you all the best experience, and times!
I couldn't agree more with your take on the Endorphin Elite for a 5k Edd, I absolutely love that shoe for all distances, and it's currently a front runner for my 1st Marathon in Manchester in April too👌 see you there Edd! 😁🏃
Had a couple of runs in the Zoom Fly 6 now and once I got the first run done and understood how the shoe operates, I can see it being a great 10k option. It almost feels more Alphafly than the Alphafly 3. The Kipchoge colour is really good and there is a hint of minty freshness through the upper mesh from the green insole. I think the plastic overlay also has a slight hint to it.
I have only been running 5k's in Asics Metaspeed Sky Paris and was almost breaking 20min. But last 5k I was travelling and signed up on a whim and used my Asics Kayano Lite 3 training shoes and went 30 sec slower despite being a flatter course.
I need to get me some Sky Paris then. I just broke 20mins in my Superblasts 2. Excited to see what a carbon plate and a few more weeks of training can do for me
For me 5k and 10k puma deviate nitro elite 3 and for half mathron and over that the alphafly 3 Although I think I could use both the alphafly and puma at any distances I Really want to try the puma fast r because I love deviate nitro elite so much The ASICS meta speed sky Paris where a bit to firm for me and not bouncy enough And the Same goes for the saucony endorphin elite
Dankeschön 🎉 for the info 😊 I always run up to 10 k in the Nova 3 😂 Sometimes Adizero SL 2 and Hoka Mach 6. Not really racers, but I run an easy pace, so they are fine 😊
I often use different shoes just cos I like to try different shoes..if I want something special for a particular race I will always go for the NB elite V3 or the hoka rocket x2..both are guaranteed to give me the best,no excuses ride on any race of any distance..
Cool video Edd, but would be good to see a repeat of these recommendations, but combined with the Running Shoe Bargains series. Maybe picks from whatever was the latest thing in 2023? I'm definitely someone who will never spend more than £120 on trainers. Realise it's tricky thing to organise because whatever shoe you say is good, it's not going to be a good recommendation for everyone...eg. narrow Adidas shoes not ideal for wider feet. Keep doing what you're doing!
I went with the Alpha Fly 3 for my HM shoe. I tested the Saucony Pro 4 and the Meta Speed Sky Paris before picking up the Alpha Fly and I'm glad I pulled the trigger on the Nike. I wanted the Sky Paris to be my HM shoe. I think it's a faster shoe and accelerates faster but my left foot didn't like the Meta Speed. So I ran the wet streets of Valencia in the Alpha Fly 3 and everything went great.
I'm also doing manchester 25, and will probably wear my alphafly 3 in volt, like yours. I've also got saucony endorphin 4s, and Adidas adios pro 3, and hola circa X1, so I've got lots of options haha. I should probably stop watching your channel and buying shoes. BUT I won't!
Well, I was only entered into one road race this year (marathon) and was going to wear my faithful NB RC Elite 2s. Still going strong with 230km in them. On the trails, I've had a good rip in the Nnormal Kjerag's for shorter stuff, and La Sportiva Prodigio's in the longer events.
I feel Vaporfly 3 while possibly not as aggressive as Vaporfly 1/2, still a good shoe to be included in 10k to Marathon distances. I feel the same for Hoka Rocket X2.
Perhaps unpopular opinion here, but the Puma Fast Forward elite is a great 5k shoe for midfoot strikers. It looks odd, but i took a chance on it. Set my 5k pb in it. I’ve run in - and loved - both the Nitro Elite 1 & 2 and am so keen to try the 3, but as you said Edd they’re impossible to find. It’s a shame that Puma have released such an acclaimed shoe without people being able to actually buy the thing. Wonder if they underestimated demand.
The availability of these shoes, or lack of it, is a real problem. I'm in the market for some new race shoes and none of the ones I'm after are in stock anywhere. I don't see the logic of the companies making such low numbers available.
There is so much I like about the Mach x2 its just to tight across the top of the foot, I get pins and needles across the bottom of my feet. It’s still fast, comfortable and light, just not a great fit for myself
Edd, have you seen the black colourway for the Alphafly 3 that'll be released in the Spring? I'll have to grab a pair. They look great. Really happy you included the Saucony Endorphin Elite for the 5k. I used my pink pair two weeks ago on the Weymouth Parkrun and got a new PB. The grip isn't the best in damp/muddy conditions though. Looking forward to the full release of the Elite V2 next year, and it looks to be a good shoe for a rotation with the V1 (V1 short distance/V2 long distance).
I’m definitely a slower runner, like 8:40-900 minute mile for half marathons I have an 18 mile race coming up which of these do you recommend? I currently train in the magic speed for tempo and slow and long runs the nova 5
Sorta looking forward to the Zoomx Streakfly 2 however I'm afraid the forefoot will bottom out again quickly. Imo it should have a air unit like Nike's top sprint track shoes.
No Adidas Pro 3? Are you kidding me?! That shoe is an absolute banger. Fast, comfortable and stable at anything 10k and over. Come on Edd, do better next time 😉😁 Well done for mentioning the Hoka Mach X2, though. That shoe is a joy to run in. 👍
@marcusszavaleta I've not tried the Pro 4, as I believe that it doesn't get released until next year. Whenever it was released, the Pro 3 is still an all time banger.
@ yeah mate i just think the shoes r from this year maybe that’s why the 3s didn’t make the cut. Shoes a banger but get the 4s. Has a bit more turn over . Overall still a amazing shoe

Not often I disagree but tried the zoomfly 6 and really didn’t like it! felt lifeless! And what’s the deal with the carbon plate you can literally bend the shoe in half! Prefer the magic speed 4. Although I completely agree on the DNE3! Absolutely banging shoe

Yes TS 10 for 5k for me too! Love that color way after seeing you wearing it (had to pu from End. London to get that color way) very fun shoe to work out in and owe that to you. Agree with MSP for 1/2 too-have done a PB in them. For marathon, will put AF there, looking at Ap4 (when out) and will see about MSP.
Doing my first marathon at Manchester 2025. Hoping for 4hrs. What shoes would you recommend I look at? My current rotation is Nimbus 25 for easy runs, & Novablast 4 for everything else. Should I look at carbon or am I not quick enough to get real benefits from it?

Love Link Wray's guitar playing with Robert Gordon but after Wray left Gordon was equally blessed with 2 virtuso unappreciated guitar players that were also great in their own right. Chris Spedding was Britain's most sought after guitar session player in the 70's. He was the Asics Superblast of guitar players meaning he was very vesatile. So much that he could mimic to a tee any guitar sound perfectly of all the great guitar heroes of the 70's. He even produced the Sex Pistols and The Pretenders. Chris Spedding was replaced by Danny Gatton, the " Humbler" He got that name because when he jammed with other great guitarist, no one could outplay him. He created a style of playing called redneck jazz where he fused country, blues, jazz and rockabilly.
As a proud owner of Dodgy hamstrings and requiring some mild stability, I'm rocking the new Brooks hyperion GTS for 5 & 10s and my love affair with the Mizuno Wave Inspire 19s continues for Halves and Marathons. Great Channel Buddmeister 👍
I would check out the Superblast if you can find it in your size. I ran the Brighton marathon in over 5 hours and felt they were spot on. Probably best to avoid a plated shoe if you're going to be out there for a while - I did a marathon last year in the Endorphin Pro 3 and they absolutely trashed my calves.
With what I have at my disposal I generally use speed 3 or 4 for 5k. However In a month's time I'm gonna use my metaspeed sky+ straight out box for a 5k PB attempt. 10k for me would usually be pro 3 or pro 4s. Once again though I'm gonna use the metaspeed sky+ in December for my 10k PB attempt. for half I've used adiós pro 3 and Saucony pro 4. Adidas kept a nice pace but for comfort I give the Pro 4. I actually bought the Adiós pro 3 for my first Full in Manchester April. Having run in them and the Saucony pro 4 in the 2 Half's I've done I've decided on the Soucony. However as it's only full I'm planning to ever do I'm considering just getting some superblast 2 and using them and just concentrate on enjoying the race and taking it all in 🩷💚
I just ran NYC Marathon in 2:47:14 in the Alphafly 3. Loved it 🇺🇸🌟😀 Thank you for a great summary 🙏

Hi. My vote goes to: Saucony endorphin pro 4(Marathon) and the Puma Deviate nitro elite 3( Half Marathon). Like to EDDBUD. Have a good day.
I have the Kjerag. Darn good grip on that shoe
Its super light, the midsole has great cushion and the plate really gives that pop. I was shocked by it. i own the AF3, VF3, Cielo X1 and Im still giving it a 100% thumbs up for 5k.
You might have tipped me over the edge to get some now!
@EDDBUD keep on mind I purchased them for around 120.00 US. At msrp they are such a niche shoe i would skip for certain.
Try 361 Miro Nude for 5K-10K.
Not in a bigger size. All for small asian feet . . .
The availability of these shoes, or lack of it, is a real problem. I'm in the market for some new race shoes and none of the ones I'm after are in stock anywhere. I don't see the logic of the companies making such low numbers available.

wow this is very good but you should do the daily trainer for the distances too
Good stuff. Thanks Ed!

@@EDDBUD here’s the video title: “Best Running shoes per brand for each distance - 5k, 10k, 21k and full marathon for the year 2024” lol shout me out on that video 😉
In your zoomfly 6 review you said it was unsuitable for 10k but in this video you’re saying it’s good for 10k? I’m confused ?
Changed my mind after more use. It happens
Thanks for the reply and clearing that up. I’m looking for a 10k shoe and the price has really got me considering this 👍🏻
Nike Vaporfly?
Wasn’t standout to me this time round
Some wild guitar in that live recording

Danny Gatton was also known as the " Telemaster" because of his mastery of the telecaster.
@ I’m too tempted by the Jack white tele that released. It’s crazy
@@EDDBUD
The documentary, " It Might Get Loud" with Jack White, Jimmy Page, and The Edge is a must-see flick.
@ oh yes that’s a great one
As a proud owner of Dodgy hamstrings and requiring some mild stability, I'm rocking the new Brooks hyperion GTS for 5 & 10s and my love affair with the Mizuno Wave Inspire 19s continues for Halves and Marathons. Great Channel Buddmeister 👍
5k - Magic speed 3
10k - Magic speed 4
Half Marathon - Mizuno Wave Rebellion Pro 2
Marathon - On cloud boom strike
Best shoe for slow runners Ed 4,5 6 hours marathon. 😊😅
Endorphin pro 4 and the Cielo x1 spring to mind
I would check out the Superblast if you can find it in your size. I ran the Brighton marathon in over 5 hours and felt they were spot on. Probably best to avoid a plated shoe if you're going to be out there for a while - I did a marathon last year in the Endorphin Pro 3 and they absolutely trashed my calves.
Agree, SB2 is the One for the long (slow) runs, @@MrAsthenia
Ace Ventura, midsole detective.

My list would be

10K Nike Pegasus
Half Marathon Nike Pegasus
Marathon Nike Pegasus
😂

However as it's only full I'm planning to ever do I'm considering just getting some superblast 2 and using them and just concentrate on enjoying the race and taking it all in 🩷💚
Can I use pegasus 39 for daily trainer my weight is 106 kg
Don’t see why not
