Swiss Arms and Brugger & Thomet build guns of very high quality. When Swiss enterprise decide to create something...they produce stuff with very high quality, no comprises. The price reflect this philosophy.

There's no comparison between a 100% Swiss SAN 553 like this and the U.S. 556 or 556R rifles. They look similar at a distance, but if you compare them up close it ends there. The U.S. 556 versions had numerous quality control issues, and accuracy was significantly less than a 100% Swiss 550 series in 556. I still own an early Sig Sauer U.S. 556 that came with some Swiss internal parts, but overall it's primitive side by side with my 553. The Swiss 553 in 556 caliber is rated as 2 MOA as a pistol, that's with no stock at all, my U.S. Sig 556 rifles are consistently in the 3 or higher MOA range.
Some owners say they have U.S. 556 rifles that are 1-2 MOA, but there was no way to tell if you would get a good one or mediocre one, no quality control. Yes the 553 costs a lot more, but it's like comparing a Ruger or Taurus 1911 to a Les Bauer. One is the finest precision made weapon in the world, the other is mass produced to hit the lowest price point for a profit margin. There's a reason the pre-ban 100% Swiss Sig 551's still go for over $8,000, these 553's will eventually reach that value due to their incredibly high quality and low number imported. The 553's in 556 dried up with less than 1,000 imported and already go for $500 - $1,000 more now than they did a couple of years ago.

The 556 type are rough for sure and I was lucky to get the Swiss hybrid version (serial # less than 4000?). I never expected a low MOA performance as it's not a 550. Overall at less than $900 new both in 5.56 and 7.62x39, I've lucked out. Low round count for sure but no catastrophic failure yet, lol. How good are the 550ish second gen Sig's mentioned above? Anyone have any input. I'd appreciate data on experience gained from shooters. Haven't fired mine yet. Thx.

Lmao you took a sarcastic joking comment seriously. How do you know im not well versed?. How will swapping the existing folding stock for a different one make it any more compact?, the stock can already fold if you need it to be shorter and a 500g tops difference in weight between the current stock and a different folding stock would be irrelevant.

You obviously don't know what protects your right's yourself and your family it's not sticks and stones the police after 15 minutes show up at your door to stop the rapist or killer in your home. Nope it's a gun just because one kid who gets bullied instead of having people to talk to at school or has a bad home life hurts people doesn't mean you should spout your stupid claims you dumb child. People get killed around the world by blunt objects and or sharp object's everyday so shut up thank you take care😘

    • @dfdf5366
      @dfdf5366 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Persian SS another thing why don't we instead of blame the gun look at the individual who committed the act whom had a troubled life and couldn't or was afraid to seek help. You don't understand that kid's and young adults around the world get stabbed and beaten yet it is rarely covered around the world due to it being a knife or a tree limb or any other blunt object. If you act like somebody can't harm somebody with anything else you are the problem not the quote on quote weapon. Ignorance is all I can say😔

@CRIMSON_626 Don't give up on a dream. You can still buy a Swiss 553 in CA that came before the SSE ban. It can only be PTT'ed since these can not ship to your FFL. So you're looking at making 2-3 trips to a PDW friendly FFL and its yours. Your next challange is finding one.
Message if interested with your info, email and can pass it along to seller or search CALGUNS.
Keep in mind CA folks sell their custom 1911's and revolvers for 10K each, SP89 for 5-10K and Gen4/5 Glocks for 1-2K. So sell a one or a couple of your unwanted Glock 4-5 gens, revolvers and 1911's to finance it. :)
The Swiss 553 that came in before the deadline and can be sold PPT are a very rare piece in CA, maybe the rarest of them all, if you want to be #JohnWick compared to all the revolvers, SP89's and 1911's out there! Definitely 1000+ times more rare than any of them.

I’ve got a gen 2 Sig 556R...hands down my favorite gun...even more than my Vepr’s. I’d love to get my hands on a Swiss model.

Tim Raynes same here, love my 556RG2. She’s a little beast, everyone that shoots it loves it. Luckily I ran across some spare parts kits at Osage a few years back.

I have never had a problem spending money for better quality I might not have the most guns in my safe but I can honestly say I have no junk in my collection I never doubt you Larry I just wish I could test fire this one before I dropped that kind of money any suggestions on how or where

Basically a Sig 556xir. Best out of the Am/AR platform’s? I don’t know about that. The Mutant is pretty nice. I have the Rifle and the pistol, I think it takes the cake.

Even under the high speed camera the gun didn't flex at all, extremely rigid. Pretty impressive, considering that under the same conditions your average AK flops like a piece of wet spaghetti. I guess it's that Swiss quality.

Lose tolerance is what makes an AK work in mud and -40degrees when all other rifles went already belly up.

It's also what allows mud and dirt to more easily get in the receiver and lockup the action. Go watch the AR and AK mud tests on the InRange TV. Also, the barrel whip you see on AKs in no way aids reliability, it's just a result of mass production on the cheap (not necessarily a bad thing). The AK is a great weapon, but it is not magically reliable - it has plenty of flaws. Source: I handled and shot many in Iraq.
The AK is more resistant to *neglect* than an AR, but that's it. If you do *even occasional maintainence and cleaning* on an AR (which is never an issue in a first world military) it will be just as reliable as an AK, and even more so in some instances. Of course, if you're an illiterate Afghan goad herder who's never seen a boresnake in his life - that's a different story.

Well, I never lived the dream. But I did live two tours in Iraq and one tour in Afghanistan, and thus I have intimate experience with AKs actually being used in combat, which is where I draw my conclusions from. You know, *real life*; not just buying my brand new AK from Atlantic Firearms and taking it to the range once a week.
But sure, go ahead and tell me you have more experience in your living room then I did with dozens and dozens of real life incidents. And even more, setting aside combat experience, a basic knowledge of engineering would tell you the same things.

And now they have a modification that will allow AR-pattern magazines. if they do the same with the 751 to SR25 pattern mag's I'm interested.
