      I tried to show how they looked on my wall to the best of my ability at 36:10, but it’s in the stairwell and they’re on two different walls so I couldn’t get them all in one shot.
      Someone else asked about how I hung them and my husband did that so I’m going to ask him and probably post another video explaining what he did

    I use very much the same method, and it makes for a really nice presentation. I’m very appreciative of the information on the adhesives you use. They look easier than what I’ve been using. FYI - Instead of doing all of that measuring to figure out where to cut the board I just lay the finished painting flat on the foam core and push a pin through where the corners are going to be. For instance when I’m using 1/2” board I come in 5 rows on every side and mark where they intersect at the corners, insert pins to mark them, remove the painting, then reinsert the pins in the board to use as a guide to cut it. Make sure you mark which edge will be the top . It works perfectly every time, and I have found it to be more accurate since sometimes the canvases are not exactly square. Folding in the corners is much easier if you plan ahead and remove the drills from the canvas first. For instance, I remove a five by five drill square at each corner when I’m using 1/2” board.

    I’ve mounted mine on a painting canvas. I paint the canvas with spray paint in any background colour you want. I cut the diamond painting to be in the centre of my canvas. • @Rubies_And_Moonstones
      @Rubies_And_Moonstones  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@QuiltingMatilda I’ve “talked” to a bunch of people online who say it’s an unnecessary step, it’s simply not needed. Most of my canvases are diamond art club and they don’t recommend it, and personally, I worry that they will lose some of their sparkle if I do cover with a sealer. Especially with the special drills. I did just seal some coasters though and they seem to still look ok.
      I think, at this point, the only reason I would seal is if I have so many popping drills that I need to, in order to keep all the drills in place, and that it’s on a piece I want to keep and display. So far I haven’t had an issue with that though either. Or maybe if I notice that the ones on display are gathering dust in places I don’t want it, especially on rounds. I think I’d be more likely to seal a round kit for that reason. Only time will tell at this point. I have purchased sealers in the beginning of my diamond painting days, but haven’t used it yet. It’s good to have on hand just in case. Just my opinion, as of this moment in time. But I’m always learning. Thanks for the question

    Thank you so much for doing these framing videos! I love the normal diamond art content, as I enjoy seeing what other people do, but I always wondered how to "finish" them. They seem to need customized framing, which is a fortune in and of itself, so seeing more cost-effective methods is has been completely missing for me.
    I love the way you have the drills going over to the sides! I did a DAC round kit on sale at hobby lobby that I did for my mom last year, and found out at the framing department they they could dry frame it, and so I did. It looks good, but I wish the sides weren't so bare. I never thought about wrapping them around!

      Thank you so much! Yes, cutting the foam board can be a challenge. A good knife is a must. One time it wasn't working well for me, and I realized I didn't have enough of the blade extended. Once I corrected, that it worked. And I need to put quite a bit of pressure down to help it cut through too. I'm really glad I have the metal ruler to use as a straight edge, or my lines would be all over the place. Even with it I can make mistakes. Good luck! I hope it works out for you. Please let me know if it does! :-)

      @Rubies_And_Moonstones I have a question. I had my canvas sitting on a table. I realized all the edges had lifted up off the double back tape??? Thoughts? Did I pull it too tight. • @Rubies_And_Moonstones
      @Rubies_And_Moonstones  หลายเดือนก่อน

      @ hmmm… 🤔 the sides that wrap around? I’m not sure why they lifted up. Pulling too tight could have done it but I’m not sure. I’m having that’ gradually happen on one of mine. I’m planning to go and staple the canvas onto the tape to hold it in place. So long as it’s on the back it shouldn’t matter how it looks. So you could try that or lay down fresh tape and try to push it down again and maybe weigh it down with books to really hold it in place for a while . I hope one of those works. I’ll keep thinking too. Sorry you’re having an issue

      I definitely didn’t display my first ones (but they were small and cheap and not worth displaying), but they did help me realize how much I love diamond painting! How relaxing and enjoyable it is
      ArtDot has some really nice licensed kits that aren’t very expensive and they are all round (more on their website. I have links in my description box). Diamond Art Club is best for square drills but they are expensive and that’s an investment for “trying”. But they’re licensed and they have some smaller kits for less. I just hated my first square because it was from a cheap company and the drills were awful so they didn’t line up well. Now I love them because they’re from a good company
      Just suggesting: don’t spend too much to make sure you like it, but I am someone who promotes licensed artwork which is why I mention those two companies (especially artdot: I do have a post review of Sunflowers in Twilight). If you end up loving it, diamond art club is amazing and there’s a lot of other great companies like Jaded Gem Shop and Paint Gems (this one is a great way to try squares)

    Great tutorial. Been wanting to try this and now, I’m ready to go!!! One question-why did you cover the board with the adhesive sheet, since you used the tape all around??

    • @Rubies_And_Moonstones
      @Rubies_And_Moonstones  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Thanks for watching! Glad you found it helpful. I used the adhesive sheet stuff because I wanted to help sure the canvas would always lay flat on the board. If I just used the tape on the edges, with large paintings especially, I think the canvas could bubble out when hanging on the wall. Maybe it wouldn’t. 🤷‍♀️ I think it would be okay to just tape the edges on small pieces, but on the large ones, I think it’s important to have the back of the canvas really stick to the board so it won’t bubble off.
      Would be a good experiment though. Maybe I can try that with a less preferred painting and see what happens over time

    Great video! I have found some canvas boards for smaller paintings, but the bigger ones are odd sizes. I wondered what to do when the foam board bows. The release paper from the tape sheet could be used as release paper when you are diamond painting.

(Like “Lost With You” is long and short: no board for that size) I think that should work fine, because once the canvas is wrapped it will continue to help hold them in place. And I taped both sides.

    The paintings look awesome that way and I would love to do mine like that but I’m not sure I have the strength in my hands anymore to cut the foam board😢 I used to work with plastic canvas and I made a 3 floor doll house using foam board between the walls of the house and it wasn’t very easy to cut the board back then. But I was only using an exacto knife which you know is the size of a pen. I’m guessing it’s alot easier to use a utility knife. I like the ruler that you use. I need a flat ruler to cut out the sections I work on the art. I section my work in square pieces using washi tape. Thank God for people like you posting vids cuz I almost gave up diamond art painting. It was more frustrating than relaxing for me and now it’s relaxing again. By not using a glass covered frame do you have problems with dust on the art and losing drills cuz the glue might dry out? Another thing I learned from peoples vids is size matters. I like landscapes and too busy or alot of confetti will make the art look crappy. My first 2 are throwaways to practice on for the good paintings I’ve been working on. Again thank you for the informative vids and I’m now subscribed to your channel as well

      Thank you so much for watching and subscribing. I’m glad you’re diamond painting again.
      I don’t know, but I wonder if using a really sharp utility knife and a straight edge like I did would make it easier for you. Couldn’t hurt to try. I’m not very strong myself, but I’m also not weak… I guess I’m average. So if I can do it… 🤷‍♀️
      I haven’t been diamond painting very long, and these are the first I’m putting on my wall. Others have told me they don’t have problems with dust or losing drills so I’m hoping that’s the case. Although I did just find some dust on another WIP, but it was where some enhancement drills were not level. So I’m thinking if it’s level and hanging on the wall, it would be okay. I sure hope so. I love these birds and really want them to last.
      And yes! Size matters! Plus, the larger the size, the more drills to lay, which to me equals more fun.

      I honestly can’t tell you with 100% certainty as I haven’t tried it and I haven’t even sealed a painting yet. However, if your sealant still allows the canvas to bend/roll a bit, I don’t see why not. It just needs to be able to go over the edges so if it can do that it should work.

      I am considering starting to seal paintings I want to display. I’m just not sure which product to use yet and plan to do a video where I compare them. But that probably won’t be for a little while still
      If I do decide to seal moving forward then I would go back and seal these mounted once, which would be after mounting. So I think you could do it either way; so long as the canvas is still a bit bendable after the sealant has been applied.

    Sorry if I’m commenting before you mention it in this video, but did you seal these diamond paintings? I’m just thinking about the need to dust them in the future, especially if they aren’t framed behind glass…I haven’t done a lot of diamond painting but I’m thinking that sealing most or all of them is best practice so the drills stay on.

      I’m glad you ask questions while you think of them. I do mention at some point that I did not seal them. I haven’t sealed any yet. I’ve asked a lot of people and most say it’s really not necessary but if I run into one that starts to lose drills I’ll have to.
      When framing in this manner I think it’s important to not seal first so the canvas is still very bendable. If I were to seal, I’d do it after it’s on the canvas (I think: but like I said, I haven’t done it before on any of my paintings. And at least with square drills there aren’t cracks for dust. But the community seems to say dust isn’t an issue so.. 🤷‍♀️ in all honesty, I haven’t been diamond painting long enough to know myself, and these are the first I’m putting on my wall permanently so I’ll find out eventually. I did mica powder the extra glue on the edges to prevent the dust and stuff there though. I think I mention that too)
      Thanks again for asking and watching
