Love the precision here for sure. Here in the states we have to use masterblend, calcium nitrate, and epsom salt all separately so I have them in 1 gallon buckets (3.7 liters). I use measuring cups to add the my reservoir to keep them at the proper ec. Been working great! People will definitely find this useful.
Is there maybe someone out there from Germany or Europe who can tell me where to get similar fertilizer then he is using. Im having a hard time finding something
I usually mix my nutrients in 1,5 l pet bottles and use a measuring cup. My nutes are much more dilute because I don't need that much. The bartender caps seem like a good Idea, so i can use smaller bottles. Do the salts corrode the bottle caps and balls? I had them in a strawberry jam bottle for some time and the cap started rusting immediately...
Only issue I find with that type of system is the small feeder tubes for the towers clog up. I just used 1.5” pvc fittings the entire run and its worked well I just use areogarden net pots to hold the cotton. You can then use a large pump and a controlled bypass to regulate flow
why can't you use maxi-gro/bloom and not worry about it? I've always been so confused about this. Do you have a video or something that can set me straight?
I actually considered this myself since I mix 3 component hydroponic nutrients for like 6 reservoirs. The only reason I didn't was because I was unsure if it reduced the lifespan of the nutrients to do so.
I use a shot glass that has measurements marked on the side to measure nutrients for my little kratky set up. I guess alcohol accessories are good for hydroponics 😂
hi i know this is off topic from this video, but i feel its in your expertise from all your other videos, i need help on planning out a aquaponic system. what we want to do is run the water from a fish pond through where the plants will be grown which will be down hill from the pond
hy!! I'm from Argentina, could you please make a video with all basic products, with the cientific names an qtys to make the solution? so we can buy 25kg of several bags and make our own!
Hey mate, instead of using whiskey bottles there is a company called the standard shot. They make a bottle with a measuring container on top squeeze to get the right amount of nutrients and it is Australian made company they use it for alcohol when you go camping
Great idea, What is the maximum concentration you could expect for the blue, white,T and still have the nutrients dissolve? Could you get to 500g per Litre?
Ooft, I think we’ve maxed out. But I haven’t tried more and I thought we maxed out last time. So give it a go. Would love to know what you can achieve.
Great video, and actually its a brilliant and elegant idea. Btw, just for a moment appreciate simplicity of metric system 😂 during ph part my mind already drifted to how to explain calculations to americans 😂
Nothing beats pumice or expanded clay balls 😉maybe boat of clay balls upfront but the ability to rinse and reuse balls wins and they don’t break down ever. I had a few runs in the pre2k era and dumped my clay balls around a azaleas tree in my back yard and they re still there more then two decades later 😊
I actually have an entire slew of these things and the problem is they’re not always accurate and they don’t always actually cut off. Super thin, white spirit type things are usually OK. But the very specific doses that you purchase can make a huge difference. I’ve had some that when, trying, poor vodka I would get Multiple different varying amounts. I’m OK using a measuring cup for my nutrients
Is that 333g and 1L water or 333g top up water until it's 1L Will the end result be closer to weighing 1kg or 1.333kg? Reason I ask is because Hoocho in a previous video added 1kg and filled to 4L when he was doing the 4ml dosing.
This is really cool. Im recently learning about a probiotic that can be used in hydroponics, too. Imagine a solution of beneficial bacteria for your hydroponics systems! It's called MicrobeLife Hydroponics. It uses beneficial microbes to improve the biology of the growing medium to improve the effects of fertilizers with the backing of university studies and field comparisons.
Next time try mixing with hot water and half of the volume: it will be easier dissolving the salts by shaking. When most of it is dissolved you can top up to the right volume (also pouring salts into water may help)
@@timpage5021 they were in a washed out glass bottle and stored away without light. It only happens on the nutrient mix, the other two solutions are fine. Shouldn't it be impossible for algae to grow without the other two parts? I suspect the minerals in the tap water are enough for it.
I got mold when storing concentrates in plastic containers, but since I switched to glass jars that had been through the dishwasher, it hasn't been a problem.
@@Fumblesneeze idk. Something else is going on like maybe a biofilm already present in the containers. I’ve ran into issues with my res cuz I got some sort of contaminant from what was supposed to be LABs. I kept washing it out running cleaner through the lines. Kept getting it. Got some drip clean and made my own lactobasillus and whatever was in the plastic and the lines finally cleared up Think of bio-films as wiping down a counter top with a dish rag. It just smears the tiny microrgnisims . Try boilling your containers 1st see if that helps . If not then you prolly got some nutrient mix that is contaminated with something or the water your using is contaminated. Remember also unless it’s pitch dark algae will always find a way to grow. Gotta be light tight.
Hello sir, I find your setups very practical. I'm in Ghana in West Africa. I really want to try simple kratky out here. Can you please if feasible send me a few grams of masterblend, calcium nitrate and Epsom salt. It would go along way. Thanks. Mahama Abdul -Basit
To be honest most nutrient feeds per gallon is strong enough to drop ph right into range ., But you should never adjust your ph 1st before adding your nutrient solution.
I think you are far enough down the rabbit hole now that you should be trying to perfect your own formulations for specific plants, rather than relying on premade fertilisers.
Ill get started drinking 4 litres of whisky pronto
Spoken like a true gardener 😂

Seems a lot easier to do it that way instead of finding the bottles and using shot pourers do to 55 gallons.
I was about to buy some 20l drums and checked back on the channel, glad I did!
As a bartender and noob hydroponics grower this is hilarious ❤
You're a genius Hoocho. The shot pourer is pure brilliance.
I do this with leftover laundry detergent containers, the tops are measuring cups. so nice
Great idea Hoochoo
Brilliant! I already premix a concentrated nutrient but the dosing via the poorer is a great idea
Pourer not poorer 😅
@@geoffharrower2845 gosh darn it autocorrect I trusted you
Simply brilliant! The best ideas are always the simplest. This one is simple, and makes a complex task simple.
Nice. I usually just create the solution I need using a spreadsheet, scale and the dry ingredients. I might try a premix for the pH adjustment though.
Is there maybe someone out there from Germany or Europe who can tell me where to get similar fertilizer then he is using. Im having a hard time finding something

Masterblend might be a good alternative. Mine was shipped from NL.

This is truly brilliant; I’ve found a 40ml capacity which perfectly matches my stock solution of 40ml to 10l. 🙂
I wondered what those weird things on bottles were at bars. Thanks for the tip!
Could you use shade cloth to slow down the solution instead of that moss

this looks like a great idea. i'm wondering if you'vve had any problems with salt build ups in the nozzles after repeated uses?
hi there, thanx for this video, can i use npk 14-14-14 & epsom salt for solution A? I cant find masterblend or the same as in the video, thanx again
I'm gonna do this with masterblend, thanks for the idea!

How about a little screen in the bottom of the seedlings section and then just pack it with more cotton wool balls?
Yeah I’m thinking this, or aquarium filter material… or hydroton.
I might just design the thing and people can experiment.
