A lot of the dlc has been overhauling basic systems in the game, I'm sure if they released a sequel these dlc's would probably be included in some ways and might be even better.
@@allthatremainsx6 I don’t think so. Look at the Sims games from EA. Every new iteration started with a basic game lacking a lot of features. It’s a very lucrative business model. And also, Paradox Interactive does this dlc policy with most of their titles anyway.
I mean releasing the same game on a new engine and just adapting old DLCs without need to pay again, would be the best way to do it. Basically a new gen port. But you know they all love the money.
One think I recently learned from ImperialJedi's videos: The tram-only roads work like pathways (at 12:35 you can see people already using it as such). So if you make the area around the tram line a park, you can snap park assets to it. This sounds like it would fit to what you've built here. (You can take entry fee, but don't have to.)
That first person view of that tramway took me back to Boston and its MBTA Green Line's rebuilt Arborway stop at Forest Hills station and its Riverside branch 🥰

Really love this series and the city, but I think its missing one major thing: A central tourist point and something that can become a symbol for the city. New York have the the statue of Liberty, Paris have the Eiffel Tower ect. But what does Teaville have?

So belgium has the longest tramline in the world as it runs our entire coastline. Now in most cases the tram would indeed stick to a 60-70 km/h speedlimit as there simply isn't enough space between tramstops to accelerate to higher speeds. However, there are a few spots on the line where the distance between the stops is long enough for the tram to go faster and reach speeds over 70km/h. The vanilla 100km/h speedlimit therefor is actually realistic.
Hey Biffa! Love that you're using the pedestrian builder mod. Keep in mind that it will only work on roads that have sidewalks. So it will not work on highways. Also, it won't work on dead ends since the sidewalk wraps around.

hahaha finally - you know what I mean, Biffa! :) 1 down plenty more to go :) something to keep in mind is that tram tracks do have sidewalks, and you can put crossings on them, so you don't necessarily need pedestrian bridges. Something else is that while trams do interfere with traffic, well, which is worse, 1 tram or how many cars? :)
24:20 Some of those paths are unusable because they connect to roads that people can't walk on (highways and national roads). You'd need to change the road types connecting to the oblongabout.

Strange how the tram line chose to turn left after the first university stop, then go around the square to cross over itself before making the second university stop...That pedestrian bridge mod is cool.

I saw that too, Hugo can’t go there!!! Then I was playing last night, added a road and used roundabout builder for a new roundabout near my industrial area. Then all the trucks started taking a longer route through a residential area. Roundabout builder did the same thing to me, only allowing traffic straight through and no right turns onto one road. I tried using TMPE to change it but it would not allow it and gave me an error message. I had to delete that section of the roundabout and draw it back in. Some sort of glitch in roundabout builder.
Was thinking the same. Or maybe shorten the parking space, so roundabout could be fitted there. Then trams wouldn't have to go through all the traffic. That parking space could be shorter and filled at the center as well.
Very well made tram line, I used them in this fashion before the metro was all rage. The quick note would speed up using the mode you have to only run uniform tram model and build more and longer lines Harsh Criticism: the number of people shows how inadequately connected the city is.
Really enjoy these "project" type videos in your cities. Made me rethink how I build my cities now. Evolved from most efficient fast growing cities, to ones that I actually would like to live in, with many thought thru spots.

I love watching Biffa's videos, they're so entertaining and relaxing. But then I get super frustrated that not only my computer can barely run the game (even though it can run games like Witcher 3 on high settings pretty well) but also because I can never build cities beautiful like that =_=
I dont comment often on your videos. But just wanted too say, that of all the content you bring out i enjoy the city building the most. I dont even play city skylines anymore... but what would make the series even better. Is that you should try to make it look a little more realistic. Your bridges over bridges. With trains etc... the positioning of you crossing the water and such. Makes me chuckle sometimes. That could be a fun challenge. Make the city look more realistic. I don´t see the People build TwoLane-Tracks for the Metro, most build a Roundcourse, but in real is Two Lane straight from A to B and go to turnaround and go B to A. You are the first i see you build a Loop. Great Job
I found it rather funny that even when the trams were up and running, people still walked that long distance. That one old guy with a cane walking the 2-3 miles along the tram line was kind of funny.
You would be suprised how long distances people will walk in this game. Just give them choices, as seen with those tram roads. Keeps people from using their cars and creating traffic.
@Biffa - for the parts where your trams do the circle return. Remove parking forcing the cars to the kerbside lane and allowing the trams to flow ever more efficiently. I noticed that was your only real snarl area and it would be immediately fixed. Near the transport hub circle you have 2 purpose built car parks which work for parking, cars dont need to be parked on the road too. Also change the direction of the loop you have a cross over from right to left etc.
One of your trams has a smaller capacity (90) than the others (+-200 I think) Love your videos!! Always good news when I see that you have uploaded a video!
I love me some trams!!! Biffa, vou can adjust where the stops are exactly by using move it, since they are default by the middle of the nodes. Adjust where the nodes are and you will get them right!!
Looks like you need more pedestrian access along the long straight. Those walking paths were so popular before you added the lines that adding more pedestrian access will probably lower crowding on at the tram stops.
I think it’s a glitch in roundabout builder or TMPE and now Hugo can’t go there! The same thing happened to me last night when I used roundabout builder and I couldn’t fix it with TMPE, it gave me an error message. I can’t remember (late night Cities session) but I think I used TMPE shift+click to set up the roundabout after I built it. I didn’t realize it did that until I saw a bunch of trucks taking a longer route through a residential area. I had to delete that section of the roundabout and draw it back in to allow right turns.
Hi Biffa! May I recommend either eliminating one of the transport hub tram stops, or extending the tram line slightly past the transport hub? You can see at 20:40 that no one is waiting on the right hand stop. Since you have two stops in effectively the same place right after each other, you’ll never see people on the right hand stop. That being said, if you want to leave it so people can get off earlier and have a better chance to catch their train on time, that’s totally legit too. :) Thanks for the fun, relaxing videos!
I really like how he uses a variety of trams on the same line, rather than just one type. I don’t know about anyone else, but I like the diverse amount of trams.
The tram stops are between two nodes, so if you move the nodes around with the move it mod you can have them right under the paths :) The same is true for bus stops aswell. Also, on the long stretches of tram track you can increase the speed limit so the journey times are shorter, that might encourage more to use the tram.

That Tram line you built there is actually pretty nice. I would just suggest that you go through the workshop/your collection and decide for one type of Tram car. At least for one line; you could do different cars on different lines. And then you can readjust the number of Trams accordingly, as they then all take the same amount of passengers.
@biffa, check the roundabout at 23:18, TMPE has put lane connectors in and the highway ramp cant be used. It happens always when the roundabout is setup before you put the road.
I love that automatic walk path-mod. Use it on all intersections that are busy or I think will get busy in the future. Works brilliant on even the weirdest intersections and roundabouts!
Theres a nice grass track asset in the workshop by clus that works really well in larger grassy areas with some trees, less imposing than the concrete. Incidentally, i tried the tram track in the metro interchange thing when sunset came out and loved it, especially if you can find a wide road tram track with platform pieces rather than just stop flags.
Thanks Biffa, the best video so far in your city. My dad is in an interest group called Trams4Norwich and I just wonder if they could pay someone to build the city and routes to show what it could be like with trams! Might be an excellent way of demonstrating to councils, central government and the public.
Lovely vid Biffa! I did notice that where the tram turns around at the hub... they cross oncoming traffic. You might be able to alleviate some traffic by reversing the direction that loop takes.

My weekend has been great so far! All of my mom's siblings came into a group video chat and we talked for an hour or so, and I managed to trick the software into making me appear upside down throughout!
I think a mini elevated walkway roundabout in the centre of the oblong-about would make hooking up to the numerous spurs of walkway a bit neater and more visually interesting. You could perhaps have a small feature at it's centre so citizens have something pretty to admire on their travels.
As someone who's been using them for years before moving out of the city, if you're interested in downloading user-generated content for your trams, I'd love to suggest a Combino. There's a few of them in the workshop.
i think you could have more than 8 tram sets going. it seems wildy popular. that bit at the end seems like the trams are having real trouble getting around that square. the tramway seems to be a rather popular walking path too, you should have a bunch of walking paths connecting all along it. perhaps a vague zig-zag pattern along the straight sections and turn it into an interesting park area? i think you could have a bit of fun with the scenery/park details too. that parking lot at the station complex really needs help. lots more spaces or perhaps a parking structure? that would let you remove parking from that little square with a cleaner conscience. in that last seen you showed at the end of the video, you could have continued the pedestrian bridge across that last road and into the hill. perhaps fork it to either side of the road at the end of it?
The tram "roundabount" at the hub zone close to the parking should be done with the tram going acw in order to avoid road crossing. It can be easily solved changing the road behind the parking onto one-way. That will force the direction of the tram onto acw.
There should be a stop on the Uni carpark loop so people don't have to walk too far from the hub (and you'll get a little bit extra cash). And I love what you've done making the tram a reserved light rail (mostly separate from the general traffic), so people don't get stuck behind a tram and the tram doesn't get stuck behind people. Melbourne should take a lesson from this!
Very glad you build a tramline in your amazing city! Well done! :-D Now you could extend it much further and make tramstops in the middle of roundabouts with pedestrian bridges to connect it all. I've been doing that in every city that i make and it works/looks very good! ;-)

Wow, that's crazy how many peeps are using the Tram. Maybe branch some more walks ways off the tram road since so many peeps are walking along it. Perhaps add a bike lane next to the line. Awesome video bro👍
Thats because trams and trolleybuses, can transport by longest distances more people. A good tram designed line could get 150 to 300 people per week, key is use trams as central connection from airports, trainstation, harbor to parks , commercial areas and offices. You can get tons of money if connect those local areas via tram. And not buses.
For a moment I thought he was going to pull the tramline through the Magic Roundabout. But he chickened out! Guess that would have been a very long video ;-).
It would be cool if they added a feature to the paths so that when they were super steep they automatically become stairs.
There are some paths on the workshop that do exactly that.

It is in the middle of an industry and would feel out of place.
I think you mean barren … but yeah, this area lacks something. Probably some high vegetation and small rocks would do the trick already.

In my city downtown area I did a ringroad tram line to avoid excess passenger on the metro they love it! I think il do a suburban tram ringroad also
How about having an oval-about walking path above the oval-about road, without having it look like a spider web hahaha
I do kinda like the chaos of the spider web tbh. But yeah that probably needs to be cleaned up.

Could probably do without all those paths, just a single walkway from the metro to the passenger train station with a few on-ramps.

When doing the end of line of the tram, in the hub, coulnd't you just have done a roundabout with a single line of tram rails, not two?

Yep. It's called a balloon loop.
It's what I usually do. But to be fair trams in skylines ca easily do 90 degrees curves so just a smoothified U turn there would solve it.

I lived in Scotland for a little while, and the way the tram runs parallel to the main train lines is so reminiscent of Edinburgh!

They might have chosen their path before the tram line was up. I think the game doesn't change it after a person left a location.

@Biffa - for the parts where your trams do the circle return. Remove parking forcing the cars to the kerbside lane and allowing the trams to flow ever more efficiently. I noticed that was your only real snarl area and it would be immediately fixed. Near the transport hub circle you have 2 purpose built car parks which work for parking, cars dont need to be parked on the road too. Also change the direction of the loop you have a cross over from right to left etc.
Please use move it, to lower the hights of the pedestrian crossings :)

I love me some trams!!! Biffa, vou can adjust where the stops are exactly by using move it, since they are default by the middle of the nodes. Adjust where the nodes are and you will get them right!!
Is that right? I've wondered why placing stops were you wanted was so hit or miss. So the nodes are the key, thanks for the tip.

Looks like you need more pedestrian access along the long straight. Those walking paths were so popular before you added the lines that adding more pedestrian access will probably lower crowding on at the tram stops.

Is this on purpose to avoid traffic problems or a mistake?
I think it’s a glitch in roundabout builder or TMPE and now Hugo can’t go there! The same thing happened to me last night when I used roundabout builder and I couldn’t fix it with TMPE, it gave me an error message. I can’t remember (late night Cities session) but I think I used TMPE shift+click to set up the roundabout after I built it. I didn’t realize it did that until I saw a bunch of trucks taking a longer route through a residential area. I had to delete that section of the roundabout and draw it back in to allow right turns.
That green strip could have also look really nice with a canal.
That's the award winning light rail that is used in Bergen - Norway! What a surprise to see biffa using that vehicle!
Hi Biffa! May I recommend either eliminating one of the transport hub tram stops, or extending the tram line slightly past the transport hub? You can see at 20:40 that no one is waiting on the right hand stop. Since you have two stops in effectively the same place right after each other, you’ll never see people on the right hand stop.
That being said, if you want to leave it so people can get off earlier and have a better chance to catch their train on time, that’s totally legit too. :)

I really like how he uses a variety of trams on the same line, rather than just one type. I don’t know about anyone else, but I like the diverse amount of trams.
The tram stops are between two nodes, so if you move the nodes around with the move it mod you can have them right under the paths :) The same is true for bus stops aswell. Also, on the long stretches of tram track you can increase the speed limit so the journey times are shorter, that might encourage more to use the tram.

Also i am from Dortmund in Germany, where one of ur Tram models, the one with DSW in the name is from ! Wich stands for Dortmunder Stadtwerke ( Dortmund public transportation ). Love to see my hometown tram drive through Teaville !

That Tram line you built there is actually pretty nice. I would just suggest that you go through the workshop/your collection and decide for one type of Tram car. At least for one line; you could do different cars on different lines. And then you can readjust the number of Trams accordingly, as they then all take the same amount of passengers.
@biffa, check the roundabout at 23:18, TMPE has put lane connectors in and the highway ramp cant be used. It happens always when the roundabout is setup before you put the road.
I love that automatic walk path-mod. Use it on all intersections that are busy or I think will get busy in the future. Works brilliant on even the weirdest intersections and roundabouts!

Theres a nice grass track asset in the workshop by clus that works really well in larger grassy areas with some trees, less imposing than the concrete. Incidentally, i tried the tram track in the metro interchange thing when sunset came out and loved it, especially if you can find a wide road tram track with platform pieces rather than just stop flags.

My dad is in an interest group called Trams4Norwich and I just wonder if they could pay someone to build the city and routes to show what it could be like with trams! Might be an excellent way of demonstrating to councils, central government and the public.

Lovely vid Biffa! I did notice that where the tram turns around at the hub... they cross oncoming traffic. You might be able to alleviate some traffic by reversing the direction that loop takes.

I think a mini elevated walkway roundabout in the centre of the oblong-about would make hooking up to the numerous spurs of walkway a bit neater and more visually interesting. You could perhaps have a small feature at it's centre so citizens have something pretty to admire on their travels.

As someone who's been using them for years before moving out of the city, if you're interested in downloading user-generated content for your trams, I'd love to suggest a Combino. There's a few of them in the workshop.
i think you could have more than 8 tram sets going. it seems wildy popular.
that bit at the end seems like the trams are having real trouble getting around that square.
the tramway seems to be a rather popular walking path too, you should have a bunch of walking paths connecting all along it. perhaps a vague zig-zag pattern along the straight sections and turn it into an interesting park area? i think you could have a bit of fun with the scenery/park details too.
that parking lot at the station complex really needs help. lots more spaces or perhaps a parking structure? that would let you remove parking from that little square with a cleaner conscience.
in that last seen you showed at the end of the video, you could have continued the pedestrian bridge across that last road and into the hill. perhaps fork it to either side of the road at the end of it?
The tram "roundabount" at the hub zone close to the parking should be done with the tram going acw in order to avoid road crossing. It can be easily solved changing the road behind the parking onto one-way. That will force the direction of the tram onto acw.
There should be a stop on the Uni carpark loop so people don't have to walk too far from the hub (and you'll get a little bit extra cash). And I love what you've done making the tram a reserved light rail (mostly separate from the general traffic), so people don't get stuck behind a tram and the tram doesn't get stuck behind people. Melbourne should take a lesson from this!
The most efficient transport in CS. 3x30, stops anywhere. You can connect the zonable pedestrian road near the stop for the crossings.
You should make those pathways that go over the tram lines park gates so you can make tons of money!

Wow, that's crazy how many peeps are using the Tram. Maybe branch some more walks ways off the tram road since so many peeps are walking along it. Perhaps add a bike lane next to the line. Awesome video bro👍
Thats because trams and trolleybuses, can transport by longest distances more people. A good tram designed line could get 150 to 300 people per week, key is use trams as central connection from airports, trainstation, harbor to parks , commercial areas and offices. You can get tons of money if connect those local areas via tram. And not buses.
For a moment I thought he was going to pull the tramline through the Magic Roundabout. But he chickened out! Guess that would have been a very long video ;-).
