If the developers ever come to a second iteration of this game, I really hope they actively collaborate with the modding community. The functionality these people have added to this game is just fenomenal, things like Move It, TMPE, these two mods, to name a few, really change a fun base game into something I can sink hundreds of hours into... Having designed roads in the UK for the last 9 years, that was actually pretty accurate! One thibg you should consider, where you've got the one lane becoming two, the centre line should only be drawn where the width of each lane is full size (your taper shouldn't have a centreline). Great job though, this has made me want to play this game even more!

@@greenche1 pause at 12:45 if you look, the outermost lane of the roundabout exits and the middle lane continues through the roundabout to become the next exit lane. For the innermost lane, there is the option to stay in the innermost lane or to move over to the middle lane, and the line connecting the very inside of the roundabout to the dashed lines between the iinnermost lane and the middle lane is what the OG Engineer is talking about. Most often, you would not have to cross over a dashed line when a single lane splits into 2, and your 'lane' would appear to double in width before a new dashed line appears in the middle.
Edit: After seeing what I think was originally being mentioned, when an asymmetrical road splits from 1 lane to 2, typically the only line that would be connected would be the solid center line, and the same concept as above would follow

at 11:00 you decide to delete the rule and afterwards you re-add a rule to show a part of the line, instead you can try to change the "from" or "to" in the rule. You can change those points by selecting the dropdown and then use the points them self on the road. (not sure if the explanation is the best, but I hope you understand) It will take a few moments to get used to this, but eventually it will be much faster than deleting and re-adding the rule (at least that's what I think of it).

If that’s the case, it’s still the same game but with new features. So, a copy paste game. It wouldn’t be called Cities: Skylines 2.
Assuming they create the next game from scratch with a new engine and Better optimization with added features that we demand to be put in the game as a base feature, it would be called Cities: Skylines Remake.
If it’s Cities: Skylines 2, then i hope they need to make it so that the game was meant as a way to manage a city as a mayor. That’s what it should be.

OMG. Thank you for those tips on node editing! I thought I can only use node controller for corner smoothness!
10:30 You can rotate the chevron. The chevron will face/point/direct to the first point you press.
Also, you do not need to delete the marking if you want to shorten it. You can just edit the To or From points in it.

  • @kar351

The intersection marking too already knew about it, but then I just gave up when playing, because it is a pain if you need to rebuild or upgrade or downgrade roads and intersections. But in places where one knows it it will not touch the roads anymore and it is done, it gives amazing results.
The node controler is new for me, it is nice too.
What I love in the intersection mod, is the ability to create yellow grinds to indicate no stopping there.
    Thx for sharing Biffa.

  • @andrewruss1164
    @andrewruss1164 4 ปีที่แล้ว

Congratulations! You have just discovered 'spiralisation'. And splitter islands. BTW, from a UK traffic engineer, we usually prefer zebras to just cross 2 lanes for safety and if those splitter islands were kerbed instead of using the chevron markings you could put the approach stop/give way line on the inscribed circle (the kerbed outside of the roundabout) where it should be.
Also, if Lane 1 on the approach is the left turn and joins on to Lane 1 of the roundabout, then Lane 2 on the approach needs to tie in to both Lane 2 and Lane 3 on the roundabout (to cater for right turning traffic).

Love your videos Biffa, I am learning a lot from them - but I noticed one problem at about 7:30 - you mention using the TMPE to manage the lanes. If you pin the lanes to follow your new markings then 1> The inner-most lane will never get used (you can see it in your video), and 2> no vehicle will ever go more than halfway around the roundabout. 3/4ths around is never possible (no left turn). Of course you will need to exhaustively pin the options to stay in existing lane to make that happen.

  • @LPChip

These mods are awesome! Thanks. Its good to know that you need the beta version of Traffic Manager to get the node editor working, Otherwise it will error and not work. Also it is possible to have half a line between 2 points. You first draw the line, then delete the entire rule but keep the line itself in place. Then you draw another line that intersects the first lane to create a point. You also delete that rule. Now when you select either line, and you choose new rule, you see green dots. Click one, then they turn red. Click another one, now a line segment is created in that area. You can then style that line, and click add rule to create another segment. For example, have the first segment be a solid line, and the second segment a dotted line. In the Netherlands, we have block markings, this can also be created by setting the line width to 0.25, the line length to 0.25 and the spacing to 1. This creates a european style blocked line, which is used to indicate that two adjacent lanes go in different directions, and crossing this line means that you have to give way to traffic on the other lane.
