My writing has definitely evolved over the years, and it’s definitely strange to edit earlier work!

Great! ty for motivation and the honesty I'e been frustrated about not knowing how to potray the stories i don't have too much experience with. Keep going Kris also you look so PRETTY ( makeup or not )
reminder be kind, hydrate and do what your future self will be proud of.

I get what you mean wrt feeling disconnected from the core of the novel you're editing. I find myself feeling similarly while editing my current WIP, and I'm actually looking forward to taking a break from it once draft 2 wraps up. From watching your videos, it seems like taking a break from your main(ish) project has really helped your writing. Hopefully that'll happen for me too lol

I’m so impressed with all of the different projects you have spanning short fiction and novels! I’ve never written cyberpunk or hard sci-fi (only stories with some time travel elements), but I got all excited when you said you’re drafting a contemporary fantasy because I love reading and writing contemporary/urban fantasy! Looking forward to your next vlog! 💜

Omg you have the Breville coffee machine!!!!! You look soooo pretty in this video and the editing is so nice😍 I like how you bounce between projects I think that’s good to do when feeling unmotivated/stuck :) I should try it too!!

@@KrisMF Yayy it’s so amazing! I didn’t realize she was the author of Fence I’d had that one on my list for so long and I finally bought it! So excited to read that one too I love enemies to lovers (the book I’m currently writing is also male/male enemies to lovers!)

P.S. (and as a disclaimer, I'm typing typing this comment while very drunk) There's a way in which short stories are bigger than novels. What I mean is that the ideas are bigger, and you can't hide behind nuance. It's a lot to handle for anyone who assumes that short stories are easy. (Ahahahahaha.)
The world deserves to know who Kris MF is. Therefore it stands to reason that you haven't peaked, because if you had, bookshelves would already be carrying your work and calling it "bestseller" and shit.
I actually like the way you approach theme, because theme is an endgame. You can't go anywhere until you know where you're going.

EVERYONE on authortube is moving or has recently moved. What is up????
Low lows are especially low after high highs, 'tis true. I can't really judge you for running away from a challenge, though I will point out that sometimes your written work can be like a stubborn child, and as the parent you have to be firm with it. This includes taking unusual side-tangent strategies to make it cooperate. I had such an issue with a one-act play that wouldn't cooperate with the plot structure I outlined. So I removed half the cast of characters, made the remaining characters interact within the same context, and eventually the plot behaved.
There's also the deranged reality that our modern readers / audiences get bored very quickly: what excited them in 2015 leaves them unimpressed in 2022, and on and on the cycle goes. So as frustrating as the urge to outdo yourself will always be, it *can* in the right context be a useful reflex.
Or just set aside every other Saturday for heavy drinking. To each their own.

I've started querying and the experience is very nerve wracking. So I totally understand how bad it feels when we don't feel confident about our own writing 🥲
