welcome back to another ‘edit with me’ episode. if you’re interested in having me beta read your writing or query packages, i’m opening up beta reading help for second and third-tier ko-fi members on a first-come, first-serve basis starting august. details here: ko-fi.com/krismf/tiers more fun stuff to come :)
This was loaded with so much invaluable writing advice, oml. Commenting for the algorithm overlords. (But also, I'm now having a philosophical debate in my head on what constitutes being "more machine than animal," and if there is a minimum ratio for the amount of modifications that a body has to take before it reaches that point... 🤔)
I am so grateful and honored to learn from you, so THANK YOU for your notes! I’ve gone through MANY edits since submitting this, but I did notice the “purple prose” / language after having to cut down 10k words… I’m doing my best to get to the point much faster (but it’s sooo hard for me, as we can see 🥲) Your edits are brilliant and I can’t wait to implement each piece of advice. Thanks again 💚
Thank you for submitting and I apologize for making this video so late!!! I'm so glad to hear you're editing this project, I had such a fun time reading it! 💛
I loooove this video. Your line edits truly bring these pieces to the next level. I love line editing but it's also fun to see how someone else line edits and try to then look at my writing with fresh eyes. If you have time, I hope you will do more of these!
I love line editing so much! It's such a joy to see how you do it and it inspires me to go through and have fun with tweaking sentences and structure again hehe time to go and rewatch all your other line editing videos 😊
would love to participate in this open workshop soon since im also doing my best to finally finish draft 1 of a book ive been brainstorming since last earlier this year! all these tips are so valuable while im writing :D
These are so informative. Thanks for taking the time. My only comment on the first piece is Jack should probably be reloading a lot sooner than the end of the scene since most revolvers only hold 5-9 bullets. 😆
Where do people submit writing excerpts for these open workshops? I'm subscribed to you here and on Substack, I'm so sad to have missed it. Hope you do more of these open workshops soon!
this submission call was from a while ago! I usually post these on my community tab here on TH-cam. if I plan to do another, I'll definitely make sure to mention it in a video.

in-depth line edits like these are my favorite videos on TH-cam. I really learn a lot every time you or Shaelin posts one of these

I think I missed how you define something being “too familiar” and why that’s a negative. Is it genre specific?
I think she means it's cliche
@@DarwinRoger893 ohh that makes so much sense. I was thinking along the lines of informal. Thank you!!
i am SAT
Is there an opportunity to submit passages for review in future episodes?
yes! i don't make them very often these days but whenever i do, i usually post a google form on my community tab here on TH-cam.
