  • The Huawei Mate X5 is the second phone to run on Huawei's self-developed silicon, the Kirin 9000S. The rest of the hardware is almost identical to the Huawei Mate X3. In this video I do a speed test, simple camera test, and Geekbench 6 benchmark.
    Thanks to Trinity Electronics for loaning me the phone. trinityelectronic

    Hi guys, so I made a mistake. For speed test, i tethered off my iPhone thinking it would test my 5G sim but I forgot that would be testing the iPhone’s modem not Huawei’s. However I did put my 5G sim IN the huawei mate 60 pro and that device got near 5G speeds. But yes for this video, pls ignore the speed test here.

    I think you missed out on the 'huawei near link' technology. After Huawei was expelled from the Bluetooth alliance, it combined the characteristics of Bluetooth and WIFL to create the "near link" and significantly led them. This is a major technological innovation.

    The focus of a mobile phone is not how small its chip is, but its functionality and network speed. A 7nm phone can reach 5.5G speeds and can also make satellite calls. Isn’t this the biggest breakthrough? On the other hand, in the United States, even if the iPhone 15 uses a 3-nanometer chip, it will be useless because there is no 5G network in the United States. Why do I think so? Because I live in San Francisco, there are actually places where there is no network signal.

The only thing that keeps people off from buying Huawei's devices right now is because of Google apps availability. How are the thermals? *every* high end sub "7nm" smartphone chip has overheating and throttling problems. The most recent Snapdragon that didn't have this was the 7nm 870 (which performs comparably to this). Some of them have been seeing -50% performance in some applications when they throttle, knocking them down to around the 870s level or even lower.
    Can the 9000s maintain high speeds for more than ~10 minutes? If it can, it's a keeper. If it can do that, it's a legitimate competitor on performance, and not just being sustained by buzz.

    I think how good a phone works isn't just dependant on the chip size. That's just one part of performance. Like having a V8 vs V6 in a car. Bigger isn't always faster. In this case smaller. Other parts in the system also count in the overall performance of a machine. If you can make your own OS tailored to working with your own chip even if the chip size is bigger than the the latest version it can maybe be just as good as a 3 nano meter. Your custom software optimized to your own chip might be better than a bloated generic Android version using a more advanced chip. Looks like the 5g chip in the phone is faster than others too so that probably affects overall performance.

      @ hmm the process is the same my friend, first press the button to switch to the back camera after selecting selfie mode, now simply flip the phone and the person who you are photographing can use the view finder to see themselves.

    •  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Dare2Blink I think you misunderstood, Im not talking about the selfie mode. i want to use rear camera to take picture of the person in front of me (not myself) and allow them to see me on outer screen in the mean time. No selfie whatsoever.

    • @Dare2Blink
      @Dare2Blink 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @ I understood you, maybe im not explaining myself properly. What I mean is that you first activate selfie mode, then activate the main real camera, and then take the photo of however you are photographing. The only downside is that the main screen will be off, but the person who you are photographing will be able to see himself.

    Am no expert but I wonder why the smaller the nm are said to be better? Is it not referring to the size and more components fit into the tiny size? If one does not need tiny chip but able to produce, say 7nm and be able to put more stuff in it, is it not OK? Sorry if this question sound stupid.

And I have been asking for it, never received a response or seen anywhere why you haven't still put out an in-depth video of the P60 Pro , like " A day with the P60 Pro " like those shots you shared on Insta. Here in the US they actually think Apple is better than android , which is laughable. We can all agree as tech enthusiasts they are all way more innovative than Apple . The reason I like Samsung is Samsung has wireless powershare and charging, water resistance, s pen gestures and utilization when my fingers get tired and for photos from a distance , Samsung Members, Samsung health , Samsung flow , Dex , Samsung TV , wireless projection , etc

    Dear Ben, Thanks for covering the phone. You say you don’t even have a SIM card in the X5. In this case, you were definitely not testing the cellular speed, just the Wi-Fi speed. You’ll have to put an actual SIM card into it and check the results.

      @@bensgadgetreviews This is clear to me. But the iPhone is acting as your Wi-Fi. The fact that iPhone is using 5G does not change this. You are just testing the Wi-Fi speed of X5, and indirectly the 5g speed of the iPhone.
