I still hate the ban on Huawei! It should never have been a thing. And I still have my P40 pro and use it for street photography occasionally. And for a 4 year old phone no longer getting updates it still puts out competitive quality.
There is no chance President Trump is gonna un ban them I bet ..He was the one who put it in place sadly ..Always made amazing phones I think he did because they was taking over from Apple as the number 1 In the world 🌎
@@lltechviewhad to order it through average dad, I had to 😂 after seeing your harmony OS videos (incl many others) and Mike's, I need it, no longer need the S23 Ultra
Im glad i know where to buy this phone. Im still using my old Huawei Mate 20x as a phone. Just only on my WiFi network. I may end up buying this phone.
the charger which comes with it will work in the USA - as I've used my vivo chargers which came from you direct in the plug in the USA :) however europe and UK you will need any adapter
Great video mate! The finishes on their phones this year are awesome but I have to say I always think - we stuff these things in protectors and never get to see it, so maybe we should be using those clear cases after all ? Huawei really do put effort into this space though. Kunlun v2 glass is amazing. I've been dropping my Mate 60 all year long (total clutz) and it hasn't got a mark on it. Face unlock is really solid, will happily pick up your face on an angle. This same system is used for the air gestures which is why I think it's so solid (for those of us that like flapping in the air to make their phone scroll). Note this tech is also supporting a privacy function now to prevent people looking over your shoulder to check your messages (...totally weird application to build out imo) Charging... and I think this is honestly a Chinese phone thing in general - is just insane... you just stop caring about battery life when it can charge quicker than you can have a cup of tea. People will say ah yeah but your battery will suffer but I can honestly say that hasn't been my experience in the slightest. Mate 70 range have 5.5A g ... technically more advanced than most of the western world gets but to get the extra magic speed I suspect it will be infrastructure dependent. There was some showcases of this tech in Malaysia I think early 2024 and the speeds were outrageously fast. 😂Thanks for flashing the watch ultimate, that's my free gift for ordering domestically - now you can see why I had to do it mate, first fold phone is coming !!!
Yes to the comparison. I have never used a Huawei phone but it looks impressive, even with the Google workarounds. I'm also looking forward to James's take on it, that's a great and unique thing to do with the channel. Finally, I'm also liking the new style of showing the phone and settings etc all the time. I like to see as much as possible from the phone in videos, though your videos have always been great to me.
The people in the US and Canada don't need an adaptor, but other than that little slip up, great video Mike and the Huawei experience from a newbie is a great idea.
Te sigo desde principio de año y te agradezco la pista de audio en español😊 no sabes cuanto estaba harto de leer los contenidos largos 😅y aun estoy en la espera del mate x6 saludos desde Panamá.🇵🇦
The only thing I hated on your Mate 70 pro+ was the theme you chose, but aside from that you convinced me to buy it and thanks to you I might be broke for a few months.
Ah man! love someone asked about this - yeah I'm excited to see if this gets more upgrades in Harmony OS Next, but as of 4.2 its a full desktop experience that gives you everything dex seems to. It still looks a bit weird on my ultra wide screen 😅but very smooth and fully functional :D I'm still believing that one day this will be the future of computing! Oh and note its fully functional with all the google apps etc so no issues 👍
Hey mate so Huawei have their own Huawei Wallet. It is region specific for the adding of cards and at least the HarmonyOS version is not usable here in Malaysia. Fun fact however is the version on watches can be used to scan and use access cards for buildings etc ! In terms of hardware the phone does support NFC well and I use it periodically to recharge an ewallet card we use here in Malaysia. You can install Google Pay and on my phone at least it asks for your registered number in India/Singapore/US - Sorry I dont have one to try. Google Wallet is installable but looks unsupported.
I have the Huawei watch gt 4 pro and honestly never going back to another smart watch because using it constantly and still getting around 10 DAYS battery life but if im just checking time and messages itll last 14 days nothing comes close (maybe the oneplus watch but.. 10 days on battery save mode with normal use)
General performance comparisson with latest snapdragon/dimesity chipsets. General app opening, fluidity comparison. Not synthetic benchmarks but real world performance. I'm curious how far behind, or not, the sanctions have caused huawei chipsets to fall behind.
Not at all far behind. One of the most fluid UIs on the market. Would've called it best before ColorOS 15 and HyperOS 2. Now on par in fluidity. HarmonyOS Next will boost it beyond those mentioned though. Only downside of the SoC you will notice in heavy tasks like long gaming sessions on modern games in the highest resolution and video rendering taking longer than on other competitors
Love your channel and the reviews BUT i feel you should ALWAYS point out that because it's not a Global ROM if it gets damaged ie the screen cracks you will have to return the phone back to the supplier say Giztop who then sends it back to China for repair replacement screen etc and then returned to your supplier who then sends it back to you ALL this can take upto 12 weeks and will cost you somewhere between £200 - £400 which you will have to pay for and there's NO guarantees on security and software updates like you get with a samsung S24 ultra where you get 7 years of guaranteed updates
So the screens are a fair point, there is always a challenge to the brands in supporting screen replacement for something not sold locally. Out here in Asia its not as big of a problem due to the abundance of parts and people to help out if you need them to but you are spot on! With the guarantees... I'd honestly just look at what they've done to date. Lazily checking Co-pilot it says devices going back to Mate 40 are supported at this point in time. Just as a user I see Huawei keep huge threads of supported devices for OS upgrades and at the moment with a lot of effort going into HarmonyOS Next (5) there is a considerable amount of information and effort going into this space.
I know they’re going obvs for a camera design, but just as the vivo x200 _to me_ this looks ugly af. I prefer the Pixel 9 design, or the Oneplus Nord 4 (in design terms)
Hey hey ! I was waiting for these :D Sorry though man, I was going to buy via yourself this time but I was offered a killer free gift over here in Malaysia to order direct :/

Did you use Micro G or the famous Green app on the Mate XT that never knew how to find it
5:56 that is an ultra sonic fingerprint scanner and it is used in side
For your experience what is your opinion of the battery life of the mate 70 pro +
Thanks Average dad for the update just keep the content coming
Always!
Why side mounted fingerprint 🙄
Cuz it's better.
Android Auto works perfectly fine on the Chinese Nubia Z60 Ultra (its factory stock Chinese ROM).
And Nubia z60 ultra leading version has better cameras than Huawei mate 70 pro plus. 😂

Optical zoom is 4x on Mate 70 Pro+ compared to 3.5x on Mate 60 Pro+
Both are 95mm, so same range of zoom
Yeah just Huawei now uses 23 or 24mm as main instead of 27mm like on the predecessor
Great Shot indeed
