Great video Matt! You know that I have to get The "J" and the Armed Forces ES44AC's with an honorable mention to the I.C and the BN SW1. I see the Veteran Cabbage unit either running with a Siemens unit or at Lumber St. in Amtrak's yard, so I'm on the fence about that one. Being a retired vet, I like seeing so many Veteran units .
Hey Matt, awesome podcast bud, I checked out your Facebook page and it looks like you guys have been doing this since May! I guess I have been sleeping on the job! Anyways, I will be listening from now on! By the way, I got my 2-10-10-2 and it is awesome!
Great video Eric. Question for you when they were talking about the CSX business train I thought you said CSX wasn’t your favorite but I know in your locomotive count I thought CSX was second highest to UP so I was just wondering what you meant by that
Hey Eric thanks for reposting this, I wouldn’t have seen it otherwise! Some of the Vision Class As say they have a minimum curve of 0-72, while others say 0-54. Do you know if this is a mistake or not? My layout has a minimum curvature of 0-60 so I can’t run any 0-72 models, but the Class As are so cool I’d want to pick up a 54-inch radius version if it exists!
Solid Catalog, and great review! Thanks! My only comment, I think they need to rethink the whole it’s too small to fit a smoke unit… As others have pointed out HO scale Locomotives have smoke units… We should certainly be able to get 2 smoke units in our “small” O scale locomotives.
Well once again another home run . Great move putting the visual of the Catalog with the Pod Cast . Appreciate all your work and what you bring to the hobby . Lots of great new stuff in there . Gonna find this Pod Cast ( never heard of it ) but will become a regular listener now .
When I first was aware of the Hell Gate Bridge controller from Lionel I was really surprised. Lionel Trains were always a cool toy train. I was introduced to the HO scale trains in the mid 1950’s. But I always wanted a Lionel train set for Christmas. Santa brought me an HO scale New Haven Diesel set when I was 6 years old in 1959. Mom said be happy with what you’ve received from Santa. I never cried about it again, it was a lesson learned. I’m the youngest of 7, one older Brother never stopped with the trains. We were talking about the Polar express set. I mentioned I did like the DC motors because they could crawl. Brother John said the Polar Express locomotives do and can crawl , he went on to explain all the changes made with the Lionel trains. Not only did I buy the Polar Express set, I sent two sets to my grandsons for Christmas of 2020. I am a native New Yorker. The rails that cross the Hell Gate bridge touch 3 boroughs of NYC, The Bronx, Manhattan, and Queens. We use to water ski through the Hell Gate waters in 1970 and 71. We had a blast. I have purchased about ten LionChief and LionChief Plus 2.0. The first 2.0 was The 2-8-4 Berkshire in 2020. I am very pleased with all the 2.0 steam locomotives and 2.0 RS-3 Diesels. Still waiting for the New York Central Hudson 4-6-4. The Pennsylvania 4-6-2 Baby Pacific 5400 is beautiful, it had an issue, so I sent it to Lionel in North Carolina. Nothing is perfect, I’ve learned to enjoy what I have received from purchases I’ve made, all were new, none were used. Thank you for your Pod Casts.
If the smaller engines are doing better I’d guess Lionmaster for the historical popular bigger engines would be a home run. But it has to be Legacy as well like the Challenger from 2015 which I love. I would have bought the Lionmaster Big Boy a few years ago but no Legacy. What about a Lionmaster Legacy Berkshire. I would buy anything like this but I just can’t justify adding and adding with a smaller layout, but the classic locomotives with all the features I would definitely purchase.
I'm most excited for the cn units to come out I just have really liked them a lot since they came out in 2020 (I guess that's one of the good things to come out of that terrible year).
I wanted them so bad too but sadly they put all the veterans paint schemes on the wrong engines. Massive disappointment. Catalog wasn’t bad anywhere else. I got 1218 on preorder
For a vision line engine, you would think there would be at least two low level points for steam effects. Not what you would expect from a $2100.00 dollar retail engine. Very disappointed Lionel.
@@orange2352 i could do more buying paying on something over a year than trying to save and miss some of the nicer locomotives that have come out. Would have loved to had that Niagara. Can't find it anywhere now or people are selling it way more than its worth. Not looking to go in debt, but if I could put a 2-3k set or locomotive on a payment plan..... that would be ideal. Knowing its new, not used and mine.
@@jacobdeaton1602 My Niagara Visionline has only been run maybe two hours. I was thinking of selling it but it seems like it may be one of those pieces that will continue rising in price although mine is the gray one... But yeah I get it... So disappointed to see the Southern Atlantic in green, with the red roof that never existed. If it was made in real colors I would have scooped it up. Couldn’t they offer both colors?

Great review of the catalog!
I had to look for myself. There really was an Aberdeen Carolina & Western livery. I like it.

I’m excited about that 8408 SW1.
The Budweiser train could use a horse car for the Clydesdales.
Since you got a SOO LINE GP30 diesel, does that mean that a SOO LINE RS-27 or SOO LINE F7 AA set or B-unit will be appearing to accompany it?
20:25 finally after so long 🥲

You could hook up the 992 legacy command base to a MTH TIU to run both manufacturers so how will the base3 work when you run both
You would use the SER2 module to connect the base3 to the TIU.
@@trainlover9943 Thanks for that response. I was going to post a question about the new Base3 and the TIU.

So do you purchase all these item from the Lionel website or do you have another place you purchase from
you order them through a Lionel dealer. They don't make the models until the orders are received.
Makes you think… Why didn’t Lionel use a 4 digit address to begin with? Thanks for offering this podcast Eric.
probably the same reason computers before the year 2000 only used 2 digits for the year. Hindsight is always 20/20

Can you run two powered locomotives connected together on a layout? Or does the second locomotive need to be non powered? I appreciate the help
yes you can
@@Ericstrains are there concerns if one engine is more powerful than the other on the pushing and pulling forces?
@@zsBears using command control electronics they are usually synchronized by programming the two locomotives in a lash-up or consist.

Looks like a MTH catalog.
As much as I am an MTH fan, I will say that the page layout for the Lionel catalog is much more visually appealing the the MTH catalogs were.

Way overpriced.
So you think it’s underpriced?
