These engines spent most of the time they had in service as pushers over Cajon pass as they ran out of steam in general service. After 10 years they were rebuilt into 20 2-10-2s Santa Fe types that served to the end of Steam on the Santa Fe.
The good news about this locomotive class was that while they did do a good job in helper service, they could only reach a top speed of only about 10-15 MPH, due to their boilers being undersized.
Everyone: Have you watched the the movie called “The Train” with Burt Lancaster? It’s a steam train enthusiasts delight. You should not be disappointed!
Eric, I've paid money to see.movies that weren't t as satisfying as watching this beast haul it's train through your layout. (Love the red and gray Mohawk.) Bravo! The sound effects are amazing -- the whistles especially are nothing less than haunting. The attached detail and smoke effects are beautiful, while the art deco tender next to that massive loco looks like the crew's rolling lunchbox. If the bell-crank actually.moved(?) you could add elastic thread for the pull-line. Nice to see a tender transfer plate -- so simple -- and all that massive working running gear. Without rear marker lights the caboose almost looks naked. What is the army/red cross car? Just brilliant, my friend. Thanks for making my day.
Love my Valley Flyer once I fixed a couple small issues with it. The swinging bell is perfectly synchronized with the actual sound and the smoke effect is very realistic.
Go Frisco! We had Webster, my 25-pound Russian blue, for 23 years(!). I'm convinced that he could talk but he didn't think most people were worth the effort. 🐈⬛
My whistle choice is #3 with the default bell tone because on the original #3000 that came out in 2009-2010, it had that exact whistle #3 and default bell tone.
Beautiful cat. I hope Chessie is okay? Might own one of these Vision Line or MTH Premier locos someday, if I ever move into a place where I can build a large enough layout.
An incredible Locomotive and review. You always showcase the sounds and other highlights. Really makes me want one! However, it really appears that front truck assembly is very fragile, line the one on the new veranda. Makes me wonder if it could ship to Ca. In one piece?Lol. BTW, THE 📷 shot behind the Loco made me feel like I was riding the train. Very nice touch! Keep up the greT work Eric!!
Extraordinary locomotive 🚂 the sounds are very much realistic Extraordinary train ride footage that was very amazing 👏 God bless you and your family by the way you are very knowledgeable about the oscale world of trains 🚆 especially when it comes to the ptotypes keep up the good work 👏
That's an absolute stud of a locomotive. The sound effects are truly phenomenal.
Sure is

Tender-cam shot: winner
Second last scene with Mohawk Pacemaker framed above 2-10-10-2: winner
Girlfriend cameo: winner
Well done again. Thank you!
Thanks, Chris!
If these were preserved where would they run🤔
That thing is almost comically long for the small boiler. Love it

My favorite movie of all time. I first saw it when I was a kid in the 1960's and it has never been surpassed in my mind all of these years later.

Nice to see Frisco make an appearance. That's definitely a good seling point if the cat approves. :D
You sure did a great job with your layout. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Fun to watch its operation.

Glad it's running well now!

My only problem so far on mine is that the whistle gets clogged too many times and I have to blow in it a lot.
An incredible locomotive. Hello from the Tracy Mountain Railway in Colorado. 💙 T.E.N.
Thank you Eric, I was waiting for that one, just because I DID in fact buy one of these.
Nemo-
Thanks!
I loved the top of the train video effects.

What a beautiful train
That was great! Nice seeing you include your wife and cat for that little bit. I hope you’re using the Christmas tree scented smoke LOL!
Great layout, not a lot of clutter! Thanks
Awesome video friend!

Thanks for another fantastic video. I will be grabbing one of these monsters.
Thanks!
Awesome setup, just love it,,,,, ♤
always been one of my favorite , articulated engines. Its ashame the proto type , was such a frailer , but 10 Mph just didn't hack it
Extraordinary locomotive 🚂 the sounds are very much realistic Extraordinary train ride footage that was very amazing 👏 God bless you and your family by the way you are very knowledgeable about the oscale world of trains 🚆 especially when it comes to the ptotypes keep up the good work 👏
Thank you very much!
I was waiting for this review for quite a while.

Those gauges light up in the cab?😱
Awesome ♐ 👌
Frisco sold me on it
Nice,,,, very cool 😎
Seriously, what happened to BFIMO ( best feature in my opinion )?
Nothing, just didn't do it for this video because the whole model is basically one big BFIMO.
@@Ericstrains good to know. And thank god Chessie is still around.
What’s your opinion on smt mainline
just a shame they didn't have radios back in 1910
Oh they did!
@@Ericstrains not in trains....lol
Is there a Lionel Virginian 2-10-10-2
Not that I know of
So there is no Virginian 2-10-10-2 Lionel model right?
Wow
BREAKING NEWS FRISCO THE CAT INVADES ERIC'S LAYOUT ! RAILYARD SAY THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS IN REPAIRS.
Ha
@ERIC'S TRAINS - Great, another historically failed locomotive. LOL! I love the history part of these reviews.
🚂💙💙💙😎
Didn't she say they all look alike
No, that wasn't her
Where is the mohawk
It's literally sitting on the bridge at 20:58.
lol
If I had a layout I wouldn't let Nexus (my cad) on it because he's a HUGE CHONKER so I wouldn't trust his huge body not to knock something over. hahah
14:43 that’s a creepy looking whitsle
you mean creepy sounding?
@@Ericstrains yeah
