I learned to shoot from my mom on an 1890 some 60 years ago. (Pop was city, Mom was country). The gun was originally my grandmother's. I still have the rifle in my safe. To have an everyday shooter, I recently purchased a copy by Henry. Such good memories...
I found this video searching for 22WRF info, as I was ruminating on the brainfart that is the new 21 Sharp. Why on earth they would create that when Winchester already had a 22 rimfire cartridge design with a conventionally seated bullet? It seems the classic 22WRF would be better suited to their goal (lead free bullets) as there is more room in the case for slightly longer bullets. Maybe they did something boneheaded over the years like they sold the rights to the cartridge to Remington in 1973 or something LOL
My now dwindling stash of .22 WRF was acquired during the great ammo scare of the Covid era. .22 WMR was as scarce as an honest politician, but I did stumble upon a good number of boxes of WRFs. In my .22 magnum six gun they're quieter and have smaller fireball, but are quite accurate. I've since stocked up on WMR to prepare for the next 'panic'. (I told my shooting buddies I was shooting .22 Specials - they caught on immediately.)
I found one in a corner of a barn while in the service and worked at a horse ranch when off duty. Bought it from the ranch owner. He was shooting 22LR in it. Thought the barrel was shot out. That was back in 1971. Still have it. And whenever I find the ammo for it, I buy it
When I was a kid, I had a 22 Sears Ranger pump and my brother had a Winchester pump. I am not sure if it was a model 90, but as best I can remember from over 50 years ago it looked like that. Between the two of those we wreaked havoc among the squirrel and rabbit population in Blount County.
I had never seen .22wrf for sale before and didn't know it was still made. But a couple years ago i found several boxes of the cci .22wrf. So i bought them just incase i find one of those rifles. Your rifle appears to be in fantastic shape. Thanks for the video.
I have my grandfather‘s model 90. His mother gave it to him when he was a kid. Just for reference, I am 80 years old and the gun was produced in 1895 according to the serial number My grandfather carved his girlfriend’s name and a crude drawing of the cabin he was born in on the stock. His girlfriend later became my grandmother.
My favorite one of these 22 rifles is the Steven’s bicycle rifle it’s a Steven’s model 41 with a detachable wire stock and that’s it simple but neat little guy
I have a dinky little .22 lr version of that rifle.. But in my collection, I have a couple of boxes of .22 WRF rounds that may be as old as your rifle..
Vendor at the gunshow i went to this spring had one chambered in 32 rimfire could figure no way to convert it to centerfire and 32rimfire going for 100 dolars a.box i passed
I have this exact rifle. It belonged to my father inlaw who passed away 10 years ago. I don't think it has not been fired in years. I cannot find the serial anywhere on the rifle. Not behind the trigger or on the barrel. The blueing is all gone. Any idea where the serial might be? Thanks
Wow, she sure is pretty! Hey, I was trying to pick up a paperback copy of one of your Dwarven Rifleman books on Amazon, and they’re currently unavailable. Is reading on Kindle my only option?

I just left a comment about having a Henry pump.
I have the impression that the Henry is heavier than the older rifles. Is that the case?
My envy knows no bounds.

That's a beautiful old classic Winchester pump.
Awesome rifle
Never noticed that they kick the shell out to the left. It's a southpaw gun! Damn, now I have to try to find one I can afford.
I have a Model 1890 made in 1901 in 22 short, not pristine but a great shooter as it has had the barrel sleeved sometime in the past.

I love those old pump action rifles.
I have a Henry 22LR and it's a fun thing to play with but it's a bit heavy.
The old rifles look lighter.
I have one I need to fix up some. Family I got it from bought it new and used the heck out of it. Mine is 22 short.

Many years ago I bought my wife a Rossi replica. It was accurate and never malfunctioned.

Sorry, I don't know. Mine isn't here ATM so I cannot check.

At the moment, though Rage of Angerls is now out as a Trade paperback- the publisher sent us a couple of copies.
👍👍
This is what I learned to shoot on by my grandpa. My dad ended up giving it to my nephew 😔who has no interest in guns.
What happens if you try to shoot .22 magnum in it?
Won’t fit. 22 mag is too long I think… but maybe
It won't chamber, the case is too long. not sure it would fit in the shell elevator either.
@@tinkertalksguns7289 Would the gun be up to withstanding the much higher pressure of the .22 mag?
@@loquat44-40 Possibly, but I wouldn't want to guess wrong about that.
i like pump rifles.
