Super Mario Bros. Special actually has 3 power ups exclusive to it (it was also the first game with the +clock). The Wing, the Lucky Star (kills all enemies that are visible when you touch it (like a pow block) and the Hachisuke (I personally don't think it is a power up because it just gives 8000 points). Other than that one mistake the video was great.
2:45 I like to imagine that it's just a disguise and if you met him in real life it would just be Mario with his mustache and bulbous nose wearing Link's clothes and using his sword. 😁

i think for the super crown, nintendo wanted to make a way for players to play as peach as that is a rare thing in mario ganes, but actually getting to play as peach would create too much of stir considering the story. great video, nico!

While I agree it hasn't aged well, when SMB3 first came out, the frog suit was the coolest thing. Able to swim fast? Able to get to certain areas you couldn't get to without the suit? Yes, please!
But the only downside is that when out of water you move like a real frog 🐸 and you just hop on all fours

EY EY EY Hold on let me tell you that the Super Crown power up may have been weird but it was VERY Useful
I mean it wasn't that different from the regular acorn suit, and NSMBU isn't even a very difficult game outside of challenge mode which you can't even use the power up in because Nintendo didn't want to add new levels of any kind to the game.

I know the Power Balloon can be weird sometimes but I do still like it though. I think Toad and Toadette has the best Balloon-type guts than Mario.
And for Toadette’s Super Crown, she looks cute and peachy when she becomes Peachette, since I’m a huge Toadette fan.
I'm a huge Toadette fan and even I cannot comprehend what Peachette is supposed to be. I typically just chalk it up to Nintendo wanting to make as many minimal effort changes as they could to try and justify charging $60 for a port of an underwhelming game that already reuses assets and has less content than the original Wii U version and required a cheat code to actually make the game playable by remapping the twirl back to ZL. But seriously I thought they knew what was too far when reusing assets but they completely ruined the internet for approximately 6 months when this one Japanese Twitter account got inspired to open the Pandora's box of cursed Mario ideas
@@aronspiker72 Bowsette (also know as Garbagesette) and all those other Peachette rip-offs are the worst non-canon characters. Terrible and innapropite designs, lazy and unoriginal names, zero personalities and the only reason why they became popular is because of there horrible designs and JUST that. Internet, a good character is more then how it looks!! >:(

If the Boost Star was in SMM2, how would it work the same? Since the game allows you to touch the screen for certain features, I guess that would be the case for this. But first, the great purple star would come out of a block. When u grab it, a card suit block would appear in a random place on the screen, then when you jump on 8 of them(not 10 this time), then the edges of the screen would be sparkly, and u can tap the screen to kill any enemies and break blocks.

What’s weird is that when ToadETTE puts on the super crown, she naturally gets called PeachETTE
Yet people seem to take the “Ette” part that denotes it’s Toadette and apply it for other characters in their fanfic when portraying other characters wearing the super crown, a power up that specifically turns you into Peach.
So rather than being simply known as Peachser, people came up with the weird Bowsette name which should logically mean that Toadette turned into Bowser.
Toadette and Peachette sound cute but the names of *insert anyname here* -ette sounds stupid
But what if multiple characters have the same name ending? Also, doesn’t matter because only Toadette can use this item
