I tried one of the recommendations from the rabbi. I no longer yell to my spouse . If I need something from my husband, I go find him and talk to him. I actually really like it.

Well, we have many smart rabbies. Some of them give english lectures. U can't begin to imagine the deep wisdome they have. We believe it takes 40 years of learning from one rabbi so a person can understand him to the fullness.
I have personally met Rabbi Manis Friedman before and was privileged to attend many of his talks. I'm a 53yr old Christian & this is the deepest video I've ever watched, too! So deep, yet so simple. Like music...has never occurred to me, but it really IS a HUGE distraction. I even hear songs that take me way back to the 1970s! Not exactly "in the moment", not even in the same decade! Lol.
Right, if you want to fuck through a sheet in the dark and your wife is Ok with that. Why do people have such a universal need to be enslaved. It's like you need rules and restrictions for some ridiculous reason or reasons. I'll never get that.
@@Valkonnen Why do we need laws? Laws are restrictions placed upon each one of us, but we are better as a society because it brings order. Of course, sometimes it can go a little overboard, but everything within moderation, right? A lot of what the rabbi said during this interview was very moderate if you were to ask me. Also, I don't see it as being enslaved. It takes a lot of willpower to resist caving into your lower self (animalistic) and listen to your higher self (divine, I can't think of a better word for non-religious people). I see it as being enslaved if you only do things to satiate your lower most desires like sex, greed, gluttony and the like. It's the reason why being a sex/drug addict is looked down upon even by non-religious folk, those people are slaves to chemicals within their brain. If you're overweight or obese, then being able to put restrictions on your diet to lose that weight is in your best interest, and it will take a lot effort to resist those urges to over-eat. Hope that helps you understand where a lot of us come from.
@@Valkonnen If you break all the rules then is when you are enslaved, it enslaves you and all pleasures. Having morality really frees you from the beast within you.

Absolutely true. RESPECT is decreasing everyday. To just say “I love you, but show no respect, then love is only a word” Best counsel ever given. Praise the Lord 🙌🏼 regarding Respect. ****Marriage is more then sex & love, it is a commitment to each other-till death due us part***** Some of the Rabbis beliefs comes from the Jewish belief passed down for generations. The Rabbi mentioning "love you" becoming almost meaningless is understandable, I feel that way with "sorry". Saying sorry is too easy, but actually putting physical actions that show your sorry is much more meaningful
@@kelizabethg1 primary school teachers and parents keep telling young children to say sorry and it is thrown out there like confetti and it is damaging. Where the hurt child is coerced into to a docile acceptance that an attack no longer matters, based on some meaningless “sorry word” spat at him from his aggressor who then walks off with impunity, believing that he can do anything nasty then say sorry, get away with it, resume and repeat the same bad behaviour. Yet I always tell my children to not do anything for which they may need to apologise, which means on the occasion one may fail and need to apologise, it is a true apology with weight and thought. Not something, that just trips off the tongue and is merely a meaningless social nicety that adults who talk too much push on impressionable minds.
@@kitchfacepalm yeah, one is not sorry unless he or she is changed. Changed behavior is evidence that one is sorry, not just the word to get away with bad actions.
As a Muslim I have been watching this series within the Hasidic community. Firstly the similarities between the teaching of the two religions is truly profound, and I truly admire them with how they have stayed true to their beliefs. I think Muslims can learn so much from them. We have truly lost ourselves and I don’t think there is a community within the Islamic world that holds true to the values of the religion like Hasidism. Today’s video clearly should be watched by everyone. Truly explains the essence of marriage, just shows how far we have moved away from the true meaning and marriage that our ancestors use to follow. A real eye opener and I hope to see more videos. Love them all!!!!
yes fine...but what you see in these videos is just 1 sect of Hasidic Jewish faith, there are other branches who do not think or follow such a life pattern. ..and then then there are other different sects within the Jewish religion as a whole, each living in a different mind thought and lifestyle. The same applies to the Muslim community and all religions. To say your community is lost and barely existing is unfair incorrect judgement, maybe you personaly prefer to live in a certain style/ type of muslim community that is available out there somewhere...but some muslims choose to live another way while still rooted in the basics of their faith.

There is a corollary to that in choosing your vocation. Popular culture repeats the mantra that you should pursue things you are passionate about but the truth is the opposite. You often become passionate about your work only when you become good at it. Success breeds passion. Many great artists fell in love with their life's work only after they developed their skills and achieved proficiency
It’s true and false, yes we all need to love all humans but romantic love is very different. It has to be there to begin with . How is that possible? Cuz ur correct match has a part of you in them. And u will naturally always love that part , no hardships can break apart a true soul mate Connection. Love means loving a part of u in someone else.. the more you love urself u start loving everyone but nobody will still beat the love feel for ur soul mate cuz they are the most similar to u at its core..! They can be opposite on the outside but inside , emotionally there’s the deepest connection which can’t be split

Hi Muhammad, I watched @Peter in Pakistan and his whole series in Lahore & Karachi etc. It was amazing & an eye-opener, the people there are wonderful and so honest. Cheers from Pakistan. This Rabbi is something else, he is smart, sharp yet clear cut. No nonsense. Fun Fact for everyone. 95% of all marriages in the Hasidim and Orthodox Jewish will last forever. Only 5% end up divorcing. This is a still a high mark, and considered a "family tragedy". Couples will do everything to make the marriage work - for the sake of their children and future generations. Children with a single parent are left with terrible scars all the lives. Family Lives Matters Indeed.
America was founded on those Judeo - Christian values. Early Americans studied the OT in the native Hebrew, and they weren't Jews. These became leaders and presidents that shaped America and made it great. America had very conservative values at one time, maybe as much as hasidm. Jews just obey more laws in the OT but the base philosophies and morals are very similar.
Peter, this video popped into my feed after watching the new Torah episode, I was raised Catholic but this Rabbi has espoused more wisdom in the last hour than most of elders and Preists have ever spoken. I absolutely sat transfixed and learned things today that I believe might change my life and help renew the intimacy that has nearly been lost in a 35 year relationship. Thank you to you and the Rabbi for this lesson. I am not sure how I discovered your videos, but I am grateful I did.
Christianity used to be like this not so long ago. My grandparents, raised catholics, slept in differente beds in the same room. I´m sure they marrieged to form a family and have each other, no to have sex and fun, not for love.
This wisdom is still found in Traditional Catholicism. Modern Catholicism is attempting to satisfy a modern world, that's why modern Catholic churches are empty.
To have it in the forefront of one's mind this relationship should last a lifetime so how would I treat anything I want to last for 65 years! WOW! My Mom explained how they met and discussed how they were and what they wanted in life a few times. She said love comes later. The important thing is respect. I didn't get it 40 yrs ago. This interview hit me like a brick. Its true. Modern relationships are very lacking.
Thanks for mentioning he has a channel. The first time I sat down with my now husband we talked for 8h straight my tiny student bedroom. We spoke about where we came from and what we wanted in life. He waited for so long to make a move although it was implied we were interested in one another before we even had that 8h conversation. I then thought (and it sounded absolutely crazy in my head) 'what if I married this guy'. That was close to 9 years ago, we've been married for 4.
@@fatimamakada2763 Not all. We have dating but not like Christians in the western world do. In my country they officially make everyone to know by having little introduction "ceremony" but you don't just go often out or anywhere you want and of course no sex before marriage. Some do have but that is only after becoming officially fiancés and just before marriage. ( we have some women who are prostitutes but that is because they are prostitutes and they work in brothels' but very small number of such women. mostly divorced ) That is why western societies now collapsing very fast . They allow their children especially girls to date , bring home boyfriends and have sex and parents are proud of it and see it very normal. For them it is a good thing and this is what children need to learn to mature . Look how bad their countries became . Girls sleep since very early teenage years , dress very vulgar and women before marrying sleep with dozens of men . Also, females dominate males. They have very high rates of divorces and they divorce for any little reason . I'm not even talking about atheists or liberals . Look how their conservative Christian states in US are collapsing. They have more teenage pregnancies and divorces . Absolutely no hospitality , no morality left. They are friendly but no hospitality even with own family members . Also they don't have concept of family or family bond . Well, all that nasty things brough them to the point where they became modern Sodom & Gomorrah . Only Amish and Mennonites are exception and very few families from the others .
Well said. I think of it this way. I have always argued and fought with my brother. We always played pranks on each other and sometimes got hurt by each other as kids (sometimes still 😂). But despite all of that, I care about him to death, and I know both of us would take a bullet for each other. Rabbi here is saying the same thing about a marriage. The love is the icing on the cake, the result of caring about someone more than you care about yourself - a partnership, a union. Being responsible for one another, caring about what is inside, no matter what.
Part of the reason things are so messed up in America is from mixing too much with different people. Eventually the blood loses its character, and people become composed of all kinds of different spirits, energies and become in conflict, and lose their origins. That, along with Hollywood and Materialistic influences conditioning them. That's why people forgot the old ways, and the 68ers sure put the nails in the coffin on Romance and Marriage.
There are things that can never be unseen or unheard. This will be with me for the rest of my life. I drove a truck for 30 years and Brooklyn was my stomping ground. I saw the Hasidim but was completely ignorant of who they actually are. I've learned so much today. Thank you!

You make it so I can empathize with a Jew, an Amish, or an inner city kid. Thats not to be taken lightly, because you're helping us understand others. alot of the world is this way culturaly and moraly, but not so in the majority ( but not all) of the US and Canada...so there are some people in these countries who think the whole world runs on the same mentality as them. Not so.
He allows the people to explain their views and why they do what they do. He is not their to judge them nor to criticize them nor to challenge them. Just wants to learn the thinking behind the actions.
Yess fellow Traditional Catholic here too! Some of my greatest friendships aside from with other devout/trad Catholics at my college have been with Orthodox Jews - especially in terms of the fundamental view of life that stems from one's view of the most important things (family life, God at the center of action, morality as something that comes from God and brings about deeper goods instead of just being an arbitrary set of rules) just because they're some of the only people I can truly get along with and have important meaningful discussions with - especially on things like philosophy or politics - because at the end of the day, both of our worldviews were directly given to us by God Himself so where the truths are shared, it's because of their timelessness in the Old Law that Christ fulfilled! So great to see I'm not alone in going through these videos having the exact same thought ☺️ His ideas really reminds me of much of the marriage advice some of my favorite Institute/FSSP priests have given out over the years!
As a catholic, are you supposed to read the Bible? You clearly haven’t, which surprised me as I thought your religion was based on the bible, although to be fair, it’s one religion I don’t know too much about.

I am loving this series, I have learned so much. I have so much respect for the Hasidic Jews. I have no plan of converting but a lot of their practices make perfect sense
A lot of Judaism makes sense, and a lot of radical chassidic communities have lost all common sense because the Rabbis are in competition with each other and some are more radical than others. So unfortunately this community that was portrayed in the film is the good side of religious Judaism, but unfortunately, that’s how how things are day to day, or in most communities. That’s why I left religious Judaism - I’m now a secular Jew. What makes sense in Judaism - I follow, What doesn’t - I try to learn the logic behind it, and I don’t follow it until I know what it’s for. Because if you read the Talmud, you realize some Jewish leaders are just the regular dumb f’s that our modern politicians are.
Does that mean you have no respect for anybody else apart from Hasidic Jews, or is that, that group of people are one of many groups of people that you respect, meaning there are some that you don’t respect? Which makes me curious as to who you don’t respect?
@Autumn OH Autumn, are you slow or just stuck on stupid? Based on your comment, im guessing both. It's also comments like the one you just left as to why people like yourself get labeled as a Karen. Where in ANY part of my comment did I state that I only respect Hasidic Jews and no one else? Did I state I only respect them? NO. Did I state I respect everything of what they do? ABSOLUTELY NOT. Your white privilege is blaring, and you think that you are owed some kind of explanation about anything and everything, WHEN YOU ARE NOT. But just for reading you for filth, let's go there, as I have time today. I am not religious, I believe there is a higher power, but what that is, I don't know. I believe religions and a lot (not all...since we need to clarify that for you) people who follow them are full of sh*t, they are hypocrites by doing everything they preach you not to do. A lot of them have a cult like mindset, and now a days, most of the faith leaders are not in it for faith but in it for money and power. You can't be dense to think that just because I stated I respect a lot of what he was saying, ie: you don't need God or faith to tell you how to have sex, what sex means, etc. That's just 1 example. The fact that you are a grown woman and that dense that someone like myself has to spell it out for you is sad. Get off social media and start doing some self reflection, you need it desperately.
@marialiyubman I agree with you wholeheartedly. To me, most religions and their teachings are hypocritical, "do as I say, not as I do". I am not religious, I do believe in a higher power, be that God or something else, im not sure. I live my life and I teach my kids, it's not about following others, it's about being yourself and being a good person. With that said, I have no problem ever checking a person and if it comes off like I'm being a b word well thats on them, not me. But thank you for respectfully understanding my comment and sharing with me your ways as someone else under my comment clearly missed the mark, lol

This Rabbi is speaking truth! My dad always says 'You learn to love the person you marry and chose to be with.'
It's even better though that someone learns how to enjoy someone's company and knows that they like the person to begin with before they love them.
You believe that though?
A wise man once said “You don’t fall in love. You rise in love.” You’ll stay married for life if that’s the case.

Thanks!
We jews love this Rabbi!! Thanks!! How blessed you were to spend personal time with him!! 💐💜💐
what a good man. The US people really need to listen more to men like this.
It’s a strategy of Islam.
Thank you
Absolutely true getodaca
Part of the reason things are so messed up in America is from mixing too much with different people. Eventually the blood loses its character, and people become composed of all kinds of different spirits, energies and become in conflict, and lose their origins. That, along with Hollywood and Materialistic influences conditioning them. That's why people forgot the old ways, and the 68ers sure put the nails in the coffin on Romance and Marriage.
I think his teachings are universal .All people can learn .
Respect to Rabbi I'm a Muslim man and i would sit every day with him listening to learn how to be a better person
This Rabbi is amazing. He is up on popular culture. He has the wisdom of Solomon and ties it all together in an easy to understand package.
Great minds do not talk down to people or try to impress others. Like the Rabbi, they share knowledge.
There are things that can never be unseen or unheard. This will be with me for the rest of my life. I drove a truck for 30 years and Brooklyn was my stomping ground. I saw the Hasidim but was completely ignorant of who they actually are. I've learned so much today. Thank you!
I'm not religious but I do agree that you making these videos is a selfless activity. You provide people like me insight into peoples lives that I personally would never know otherwise. You make it so I can empathize with a Jew, an Amish, or an inner city kid. Thats not to be taken lightly, because you're helping us understand others. And what could be a more selfless activity than promoting understanding.
I know this video is a bit old, but I'm a recent subscriber and have been going through all of your videos. Just want to say thank you if you ever see this.
Thank you for this Peter. I am not hasidic or jewish but I enjoy seeing this world and feel a connection. As someone from Gen Z I feel like today no one has morals and values especially about sex and marriage. Everything the Rabbi said was soo meaningful and I wish more people saw the true value of being in a relationship.
Such a great example of a "good conversation." No combative debating. Just an interviewer listening more so and humbly responding. And the interviewee calmly and confidently responding. Barely any editing necessary to move the conversation along. Thank you for sharing!
Aptly said.
This sets himself apart by not being combative, but being sincerely interested. Today’s journalists are not, only agents of lies & deceit.
14:34-it takes effort! Does your spouse deserve the effort to be respectful? I found this Rabbi’s videos last year. Such a great teacher!
This guy is so wise. His word have made me stop and think deeply.
Peter you are very humble, that’s how you are able to do these videos so successfully. Thank you 🙏
Peter needs to make better choices, please stop interviewing abusers and calling them idols. What you’re doing is causing more harm than good. Why are you hurting his victims? Shame on you Peter! Shame on you!

I am a Christian and I really enjoyed this interview with the Rabbi. the world is going awol because nobody has a north star anymore and they are left to their own devices. This is an extremely wise man whom we all should be listening to ❤
My goodness such a wise man. thank you for interviewing the rabbi
I am Christian & I love my Jewish brothers & sisters ✡️
Especially Jesus
Yes. Especially Jesus.
Not the athiest ones
❤️🇮🇱
Love this Rabbi! My mother told me that marriage is not about love, it about commitment to each orher. I wish I would have listened.
As odd as this may sound the rabbi has stunned me on a personal with how he puts across all these basic concepts and I agree that this generation is lost between intamacy and love so much. Much respect for the wisdom of this man
I would recommend THIS specific episode to anyone (any creed, religion ideology, OR even of a secular persuasion) that will be getting married shortly. Beyond INSIGHTFUL!! 🙏
Very unprepared and brave of you to meet with the Rabbi and this subject. Thoroughly appreciate this pod cast
. Thank you.
This was a wonderful conversation! Why can't more of our world be this way? We have so much to learn from each other. I pray we can put away the anger and ignorance and start to embrace the beautiful things that make us different.
Because of the liberals. Over simplification? Maybe not.
It can start reading the bible.
alot of the world is this way culturaly and moraly, but not so in the majority ( but not all) of the US and Canada...so there are some people in these countries who think the whole world runs on the same mentality as them. Not so.
Change yourself and more of the world will live by these values. 🤗❤💐💜
He allows the people to explain their views and why they do what they do. He is not their to judge them nor to criticize them nor to challenge them. Just wants to learn the thinking behind the actions.
If I am not for myself, who will be for me? If I am only for myself, what am I? And if not now, when?
- Rabbi Hillel
Rabbi Manis Friedman is one of the wisest people I have ever had the homer to listen to. I really enjoy his teaching. Thank you Rabbi!
This interview is so good I downloaded it. Rabbi’s wisdom transcends faith. I’m a Traditional Catholic, and I completely appreciate his wisdom.
Yep! I’m finding a lot of similarities in philosophy between traditional Catholics and the Jewish people in threes videos.
I'm a Traditional Catholic as well. The reason why we have so much in common is because Truth is Truth.
@@autumn5852So if you don’t know much about it, why would you say we don’t read the Bible? That’s an absurd thing to say. Our faith and worship is permeated with Scripture. Learn more, say less next time.
If I had heard this video in 1974, I would never have dated or married (albeit briefly) my 1st husband.
6 years later, I married a wonderful man. We both shared the ideas in this on our own, naturally.
40 years of happiness and counting.
This is my Favorite Episode EVER ! I really ENJOYED Listening to Him !!! ♡♡♡ I'm not even Jewish ! I agree with Everything He said ♡♡♡♡
Tears ran down my face during watching this video. Peter, countless appreciation for uploading this precious video. You save my life!
May you find what you are looking for, friend. ❤️
beautiful ideas that transcend just the relationship of husband and wife
Fun fact, Rabbi Manis Friedman is the father of Benny Friedman, a young singer that you interviewed in another episode.
Also a wonderful singer. The whole family is wonderful. My Rabbi is related to Rabbi Friedman and he was a great speaker at our synoguoge
Wow I didn’t now
he's also the brother of Avraham Fried, hasidic superstar singer!
@@tommythecat4961 actually? why different last names?

This Rabbi is the Biblical definition of a wise man. I’m soaking up every word that comes out of his mouth.
As a Jew I have been so impressed watching your series on our community. So glad to see you sit down with Rabbi Friedman.
I never expected this talk would bring me to tears (I found it so moving). Fantastic 56 min. Thank you!!! I'm a libertarian at heart, and yet the way Rabbi Friedman turned your views inside out so beautifully (views I share with you) made me both laugh and cry. The content you're sharing is of so much value, and yes, your channel is a wonderful service.
I really appreciate how much humor the rabbi has
And I'm on his side with intimacy, respect and loneliness and how much we want to be selfless
The interviewer seems to be deeply bewildered😂
Just by how the rabbi answered the door ik I'm gonna love this lol
Unbelievable I would never have thought of marriage this way. What the Rabbi said is so true.
Rabbi Friedman is from a long line of very famous Rabbis.
You were talking to a genius, also a very sweet and humble man.
I am loving this series, I have learned so much. I have so much respect for the Hasidic Jews. I have no plan of converting but a lot of their practices make perfect sense
You cant convert to judaism anyway
A lot of Judaism makes sense, and a lot of radical chassidic communities have lost all common sense because the Rabbis are in competition with each other and some are more radical than others.
So unfortunately this community that was portrayed in the film is the good side of religious Judaism, but unfortunately, that’s how how things are day to day, or in most communities. That’s why I left religious Judaism - I’m now a secular Jew.
What makes sense in Judaism - I follow,
What doesn’t - I try to learn the logic behind it, and I don’t follow it until I know what it’s for.
This man is intelligent & full of wisdom truly

no i disagree...this man spoke very nicely on the subject of marriage+ love+ sex for 30mins...does not mean he practices what he preaches in private? does not mean all his other views on marriage topics are great...does not mean his opinions on other life issues are as great? You judge too quickly from a mere 30min talk.
“This is the IRS” and they didn’t laugh …THAT made me crack up! 😂
as a religious jew i found that hilarious
