Oh God, the memories with this one... My mother and my brother would play this game all the time and Mom would beat him by holding the controller vertical and toggling the buttons. He'd always blow all his engines in the Yakima Hill Climb. :)
I haven’t seen this game is 30+ years. Used to play it with my best friend Larry. Watching this makes my thumbs hurt. I wonder why? If my memory serves me right… This game is a thumb killer.
The way I did it was by putting the controller on the floor and working the left and right directional buttons back and forth with my thumbs, the I operated the B button with the side of my right pinky, and the A button with my pinky to shift twice. That's the key thing, if your don't shift gears you will always loose, unless the computer player is way down on cash (with the exception of the side-to-side hill climbs).
Only time that happened was when you'd loose a race. There was also a crazy glitch where if the computer player was very low on cash, it would commit suicide in the cross country race. Another was in the cross country race, one of the middle races, there was a treasure trove of cash to collect on the entire screen. One side to side race I crossed the finish line when the computer was rolling over the fuel refill line, freezing the game. Since I had already won, it shut off the computer player.
How the hell did you get that truck to move on the side by side races? I own the cartridge and I could never get that truck to move, and if I did it was only a couple of feet.
Acualy when you drive over cow(on those "top camera" lavels), then whole screen has those cash icons, also somtimes when playing this, CPU just drive to left to kill himself, I think because CPU didnt have much money, who knows
I acualy completed this game when I was 4-6, and thats why my nes controllers never work'd, also I hated cheating CPU, somtimes it gives more money to CPU than me >:(
yo.they fucked this game up. first of all, let me say this... ... i spent my entire childhood looking for NES games that werent terrible. but second, i digress. the second stage drag race excite bike style crushing cars.... thats a MUCH cooler first level...... you cant make shitty nintendo nes games and make the GOOD level after the first level. thats nothow it works. you make the first one fuckin best, and the third. and the 9th and th e, what ever else. but. youve gotta hook fish. maybe i DID try this game.. and i just dont remember because the first map was... not as good as the second X_x and i was only like 9 and acclaim is like... coorperate trash that got lucky and made a few of my fav games. but none of which i remember

Being a fan of monster trucks myself, I looked at this video to wonder what it was about.

this game i always called "Pad Crasher" one play and your pad is in a trash.
i never figured out how to beat the mud race either.
From memory. It was the dumbest concept ever. You had to alternate between the A and B button as quickly as possible.
