Yes, I totally goofed and made a video for a recipe that already had one- oops! LOL
Haha
I'm using your chocolate chip cookie recipe for Christmas, thanks I really enjoy it.
Haven't quite burned any yet to your liking but the batches that I've made have turned out great.
Haha
😂😂😂
So do you know what mistake did I make?
Ingredients:
1 cup all purpose flour ( 120 g )
1/2 teaspoon salt 5g
1/2 baking soda 3g
1/2 butter 112g
1/3 cup sugar 66g
2/3 cup light brown sugar 140g
2 teaspoons vanilla 10ml
1 egg
1 1/2 cups old fashioned oats 135g
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips 150g
thank you ! :)
Very nice of you to share the list of ingredients
Thank you!!
Ty
Thank you
GUYS YOU HAVE TO MAKE THESE. My entire family said they were amazing and so good. I put about 1/3 a cup of dough in each and it make exactly 8
I also didn’t have a fancy mixing pot so I just used a spatula and it worked wonders. Just make sure when you have the butter to mix it quite a lot and also when you put the sugar in so it will be really fluffy. Also make sure to refrigerate them for an hour (that’s what I did)
Whenever I don’t refrigerate cookies they get really thin and not nice but these kept their shape and came out really thick and round.
They were 100% worth it and I’m going to make these anytime I want cooking.
They are also technically healthier bc of the oats.
Heheheheh.
So yeah great recipe all in all and no complaints.
John every 30 seconds of the video:
- Have I mentioned they're crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside?
😂😂😂
omg couldn’t agree more!😂😂😂😂
Omg haha
Yep l noticed that two!
Lmao
I’ve tried this and it’s so delicious! One of the best recipe I’ve tried. If you’re gonna try this I highly suggest you lessen the amount of sugar because this came out too sweet for me. Hope it helps.
I agree. I added the regular mount of white sugar, and instead of brown sugar I added molasses.
I want to try to replace the white sugar with stevia...thanks for bring up the sweetness level of your final product 😊 it helps alot
agree. I only added brown sugar, totally skipped white sugar. I love it. However, it's all personal taste. One of my friend said mine is not sweet enough and another one loves it. :)
@@vivianz5157 does removing the white sugar affect the cookie in some way? like does it go hard? hope you can answer this! thanks!
@@tiktokspree5604yes, sugar in cookies has a lot to do with the spread and chewiness of cookies. Altering it will definitely have some effect
Oatmeal chocolate chip cookies are so underrated. They deserve so much more love.
I’m a 12 year old with no baking experience and even I had an easy time baking these cookies. They tasted soooo delicious and didn’t take that long to make! Also it was easy to follow along with what he was saying! Thank you for this wonderful tutorial and wonderful recipe!
This was my first time baking cookies from scratch and I’m so delighted because they turned out amazing! I only had about a 1/4 cup of chocolate chips but i still had enough to fill each cookie with a few chocolatey bites. I highly recommend this recipe! Beware that they’re super sweet
I’m thinking of omitting the white sugar
I have made this cookie recipe 3 times, to make them gluten free I used gold medal oatmeal flour it made it that much better , my family absolutely loves it 😀 thank you John 😊
_He may have a calm and relaxed face, but behind that smile is a maniac willing tho go to any length to discover the best possible recipe for every baked good_
I made the cream cheese cookie last night - one of the best desserts I've had
Fully agree. His cream cheese cookies were excellent and I had friends who wanted more and more of them!
He is a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to his recipes and we all benefit as a result. You can really tell he wants us to be confident and successful in the kitchen and does his best to empower us to go forth and bake with joyful exuberance as he does. Haven't baked a single thing but still love to watch and learn and be inspired. Someday soon I'll finally make something and when I do I know it'll be delicious and AH-MA-ZING.
Happy Holidays everyone!!!
I made them for Christmas too and they were so soft! (◍•ᴗ•◍)
I tried this recipe yesterday and double the batch to freeze. Needless to say they are nearly gone.
Elevation matters. For mine it was 12 minutes and 3 on the tray before cooling for a light chewy golden brown. I especially like the cookie isn't greasy from the butter.
I used salted butter and refrained from adding more salt.
Our Fire Department will enjoy these Christmas day.
Thanks for sharing your tips and recipes.
I was just about to make chocolate chip cookies for santa tonight, well actually i already started but i will watch this right now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Im 11 and i love to bake!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i also subscribed a long time ago!! thank you for amazing recipes!!!!!!!
Bake on Meher! Bake on!!!
@@ML-xh6rd Thank you!! i will! I also got a lot of baking equipment on Christmas!! its was amazing and I'm so happy!!!
@@meherpanjwani7276 -- That's awesome. I'm sure you'll be whipping up lots of delicious treats "to share with yours family and friends." All the best in the new year and keep on baking!
I don’t think I’ve ever seen him without a button down plaid shirt on.
He wore some monochrome numbers in a couple of videos, like these:
th-cam.com/video/i-1COHA3AdQ/w-d-xo.html
th-cam.com/video/s0RUhBBlvHY/w-d-xo.html
Between that, the apron, the Clark Kent glasses and the stubbly beard, he'd be an easy Halloween costume for a slender brunette male who likes to bake.
Staying on message is important when trying to build a lifestyle brand. I wouldn't be surprised if he has his own line of shirts at some point.
😂🍪👌🏼
@@ML-xh6rd babish is the same. You nailed it
I grew up in Ohio and knew how to make a cc cookie before I was 10. So, I have been making them for well over 60 years. Today, I wanted to try something new and decided to try your recipe. And I must say that they were probably the best I have ever made! Thank you! I never took the time to chill them before baking, nor did I put extra chips on the dough as well as adding a little sea salt on top. I was afraid that they would be too salty but they were just perfect! I can't wait to take them to my sister who has been in the hospital for 6 weeks. They will really help to cheer her up. Can't wait to try your other recipes! Deb
I hope your sister gets better
I put 2 tsp whisky, cranberry,walnuts.
Omg heaven in my mouth
These are awesome. I used monkfruit instead of sugars a about 75%.
Whenever he says “ahhh-mazing” it unleashes all my serotonin 🥰🥰
Made these using ingredients I had and cut the sugar by a bit as suggested by other comments, and they turned out really nice! Been munching on them for a couple of days now, and the texture is still great. Obviously they were the best freshly baked but they're still very very good. will probably make them again
Should I make the light brown and reg sugar 50/50 or just cut reg sugar
Merry Christmas to everyone who reads this , I know this message probably affect you and you will probably forget about it in a hour , but remeber you are loved , you deserve the world , take care of yourself
I tried these out and they turned out great!
Here's some tips:
-Put the cookies on the top rack of the oven
-If you don't have vanilla extract you can substitute it with maple syrup, that's what I did and it worked great
-Don't turn the oven off when you are waiting for you last batch, wait for them to be finished properly, then turn the oven off and take out the cookies, otherwise they will turn too crispy and crunchy instead of soft and chewy
He is such a good smiler!🤩
I replaced all purpose flour with whole wheat flour and the cookies came out fantastic! Thanks for the wonderful recipe!
This recipe has become my tradition for making in bulk for gifts for my kids' teachers as Christmas gifts. I triple the recipe and then use rough chopped chocolate chunks to enhance the rustic look. My kids' teachers say thank you for the great recipe!
I love how I've never seen a negative comment on his videos!❤️
Tried this today and both me, my husband, and our toddler loved this. 🥰
"hither and thither"! How I loved the use of that!
4:39 - That crunch was EVER SO SATISFYING!
I've made this cookie today. OMG it came out soooo perfect and really delicious . Everybody in my family loved it. THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH. 🍪❤🍪
I tried this yesterday and they came out so good!! I’d been craving oatmeal cookies for a while now and this was the perfect recipe. Everyone in my family loved them too✨
These are the best oatmeal cookies ever. I made them AFTER Christmas to give away but kept half myself, they were THAT GOOD.
I made this yesterday. I reduced brown sugar by 20gm. Everything else I followed to the tee. It’s killer. Only thing is, I would reduce the choc chips by half next time as it’s a little too sweet for our family. These are the ultimate oatmeal choc chip cookies ever and We LOVE these to bits. The recipe is a keeper for eons
I tried this recipe today and the cookies came out so goooood . My husband loves them. Thank you !!
I hope your holidays season is filled with good health and love..
I just made my second batch today! Thanks so much for this delicious wonderful recipe. It's been a life saver for after the Easter holiday and back to work, for my kids staying g home during break. 😊
They wonderfully crispy on the outside and rightfully chewy but cooked on the inside. I left them in for an extra 2mins.
Now I don't have to worry about a healthy yummy snack for morning or afternoon ❤
I have cooked these cookies more then 10 times, and they where amazing thank you John.😊
I tried so many cookie recipes and none of them worked however this recipe is sooo good and really easy to make 10/10
Made these and loved them. Added dried cherries- so delish!! Thanks for the recipe
I made these with butterscotch chips....hence, oatmeal scotchies....turned out great....thanks for this recipe.
I make these cookies for my kid's, and they love them, but sometimes I used almond flour and swerve chocolate chips, and they were awesome!
My oven is old so it needs 15 min exactly. :b
I tried modifying it by adding both dark chocolate and milk chocolate it turned out amazing!!! Tysmm
I just finished making these cookies & although they did spread out a lot and did not look visually appealing....the taste was phenomenal! Very good!
LITERALLY AMAZING RECIPE, MY COWORKERS AND BF LOVED THEM
I'm not an experienced baker and this recipe comes out delicious everytime. I have added walnuts, raisins and get so many compliments. Thank you for this recipe❤
These are absolutely delicious! Best cookie recipe yet.
I veganized this recipe (vegan butter instead of butter and a flax egg instead of an egg) and it came out GREAT!! Crispy and soft. Best of both worlds
So far I tasted the cookie dough and I approve 👌🏼
I just made these! The best I ever made! Thank you John!
Hey John. That crunch when you took that bite to taste was phenomenal. Such a perfect oatmeal cookie. Can't wait to try this recipe
I only eat certain types of oatmeal cookies
*I have my raisins.*
😂😂😂👍
Thanks for the chuckle...as always.
Happy Holidays bud.
Love chewy oatmeal raisin. Heaven..... But will still try this recipe my works does revolve around chocolate.
Yes Raisins ... My go to when I'm starving!
Tried these today. They are so awesome 🤩
My sister says, why are they so delicious as she can't stop eating them, so do my kids 😍😍😍😍😍
Hey John! I watched most of your video and their awesome! Your such a good baker/chef. I’m a. Young baker/chef I learned a lot from you! God bless you! Never stop!
I made these as a treat for Christmas day and they were a HUGE hit with the family ❤❤❤
Hi Kim 😊😊
should we preheat the oven before
I made these and my husband went absolutely crazy for them!!! He’s requested that I make them two more times since 😁 They are very good! MMMMMMMM
These were fantastic. That crisp outer edge and softer center you talked about is really nice. My only recommendation is to make a double batch!
I made these for the first time and my family loves them, they're a hit!! Thanks, John for all your videos and delicious recipes and helpful tips!
I added an additional 2 mins in the oven and these cookies are glorious. Highly recommend. BRST COOKIES EVER
Making cookies is the bane of my existence 😂. I can cook any meal you want, bake cakes and pies but cookie… nope. I tried this recipe and they were absolutely delicious. My entire household loved them. Thank you for this recipe.
My husband will looooooove this!!!! Thanks John!
I tried it even though I didn't have chocolate chips and I replaced it with regular chocolate, it turned sooo good. Tnx for the recipe
Good delicious recipe! I literally went to the kitchen immediately after printing your recipe. I made a few changes: used peanut oil in place of butter (turned out nutty and yum!) and Chinese brown sugar (20g less than suggested, which also turned out fine!)
How many cookies did u make with this recipe
Almost one of my absolute favorite cookies. Just add peanut butter and then it’s seriously one of the top cookies ever made.
This recipe is absolutely fantastic ❤ I made this afternoon… I can’t explain how delicious it is! Thanks to share - sending hugs from Brazil 🇧🇷
I have made this recipe many times. Simple and delicious!
Omg!!! Another recipe from John that I nail! Thank you!! There hasn’t been a recipe of yours that I do wrong! You explain everything so well and keep it simple! ❤
Just finished making these, love them. If future me is looking for here again, a bit less sugar and more oats
Just made these for game night tonight! thanks for these simple to follow and delicious recipes.
Today is my second time making these cookies. Thanks for the recipe, the cookies are delicious!!!
Just made these tonight to practice, in hopes of giving as Christmas presents. They came out so delicious! My oven needed 12 minutes & 30 seconds to just get edges golden (my oven runs slow usually). They are chewy in center and so delicious; I'm eating while chocolate is still a bit gooey 🥰. Thanks!
Love this recipe. When I feel for oatmeal raisin cookies I just replace the chocolate chips with raisins and some cinnamon.
Guess... what I am making RIGHT NOW?? These cookies AGAIN !! IN LOVE
I have tried this recipe and it turn out to be soooo gewwwddddd. The meausrement is also perfectt and it taste really similar to one of the wellknown cookies shop in Indonesia
I have just made them. Very easy to make. I didn’t have chocolate chips so I chopped some chocolate chunks and also added some raisins. They turned out really nice. My advice is to slightly reduce the sugar and the cooking time.
Hey Mr John.. I made these oats cookies.. I didn't have choco chips so i replaced them with almonds.. And rest was same.. The cookies came out to be amazing crisp from outside and chewy inside as you say.. Seriously this recipe is amazing.. I haven't seen a recipe like this
These turned out AMAZBALLS!! Thank you sooo much!!
Thanks for this great recipe! Only baked them for 8 minutes and they were perfect. Perfect sweetness too. 👏👏👏🥰
My mom makes something exactly like these every Christmas, except with shredded coconut added too! Happy holidays John :)

Happy Christmas 🎄🎄☃️☃️ my baby
That sounds so yummy! Enjoy one for me Callie! Merry Christmas.
Adding shredded coconut is a very good idea.
i made 8 mega cookies with this recipe (~90 grams each) and they turned put soo well.
Crunchy on the outside, chewy and sof on the inside, love it and my 8 year old daughter approved it 👌
Love making all the recipes for baking. I am a better baker because of this channel. Thanks!
I am writing this while eating the cookies I did last night.
I loved the recipe it dose not need too much work and it’s easy to make .
As he said it turned out a little crispy from the outside and soft from the inside.
Thank you so much for this recipe I will probably do it again .
Hi! I’m twelve years old and I love your recipes! I made your eclairs and apple crumble pie and my family LOVED them! 💕Edit: I’m posting this until you notice me! (This is day three) 💖
Keep on baking Jacka. And keep on commenting too. John will see you eventually and give you a heart and maybe even reply. He does his best. He's busy on the farm and with his boys but believe me, he'll see you eventually.
Happy Holidays!!!
@@ML-xh6rd Thank you! That made my day! Happy holidays and merry Christmas!
@@jackadubov233 -- When I was your age, 40+ years ago, I too loved to bake and learned to make my mom's favorite cakes, carrot and pineapple upside-down. A few years later I learned to make my favorite, cheesecake. Now my go to is cream cheese brownies. I haven't made them for a few years now but always have the Baker's chocolate in the pantry in case I get the urge. I admire your making what I think are a bit more challenging recipes, the eclairs especially. Being confident in the kitchen is something that will serve you well throughout your life so I hope to keep baking and cooking and learning. As you know, John is a great teacher. Hope your Christmas was joyous and that 2021 is an amazing year for you. Be safe and be well.
