  • You would think because it’s a modern day car it would have electrical pulse width, modulated variable compressor Displacement control valve.

Looks like it's controlling well! ;) Not sure why the clutch would be cycling, given the compressor is variable displacement.

Because they were using an old fashion, primitive, mechanical adjusting, and they must be using the clutch for cold Ambien conditions protection.
Because it’s so cold outside it’s cycling using the clutch .
If it was 85, outside it would not be cycling at all I would never cycle. It would just adjust displacement.

@@coldfinger459sub0 Got it, a cold ambient and it's cycling on low pressure cutout.

Do you know mechanical compressor with mechanical control valve ?

      Call compressors are mechanical.
But I think you mean, just mechanical control for variable displacement .
General Motors introduced the first one back on the Cadillac somewhere around 1985 maybe 1988. My memory is not exact on the year. . It had a mechanical variable displacement valve that worked on the pressure of the refrigerant to physically activate and move the swash plate that would change the displacement of the Pistons in the compressor..
This is very old technology over 30 years old
And other than varying the displacement, the physical movement inside a compressor
Back in the 1960s they had STV valve POA valve and a few other acronyms that were you used to maintain a constant pressure on the evaporator to control the temperature out the dash so it would be steady .
But they remove these devices over the decades because they were too many uneducated people who would not read books on how to properly diagnose and maintain and service these items .
So a lot of systems would fail or have Parts replace that did not need to be replaced because of the lack of knowledge of a mass amount of technicians who are uneducated cause the problems .
There was nothing wrong with the technology. There was nothing wrong with the devices installed from the manufacture, all the problems, light on the shoulders of the technicians, who are incapable of comprehending and diagnosing in maintaining the systems. .
The devices that were produced and installed back in the 1960s were far more reliable than the electronic compressor control valves that are installed in today’s vehicles .
