    Have had my Fisker Ocean One (FOO) nearly two months and I am still looking every day for excuses to drive somewhere; one of the nicest driving cars I’ve owned or driven over five decades. For a brand new brand and brand new car you won’t be disappointed driving the Ocean.

    Hey Dave. Nice video and a fair review. I'm actually picking up my Fisker Ocean Extreme on 19-Dec in Manville NJ. Let me know if you want to connect to test drive it. I'm looking forward to it. One note, while you can't get the $7,500 tax credit since the Inflation Reduction Act was approved, those of us who transferred our deposit to a "transaction" are still eligible under the old rules. Anyway, love watching the videos you, Kyle, the Out of Spec crew, and even Tom at State of Charge put out. Being this is my first EV, I've learned a lot from all of you. Thanks.

    You have the best info on the Fisker I have yet seen anywhere. Very well-done Dave. I must say the Ocean is really a great looking vehicle and looks better than most any other SUV types. I love the front driver screen and interior and truly excited for this new vehicle. No tax credit benefits with these in America and it is a little too pricy for me personally, however, as could only consider the lowest trim if slightly reduced further down the line. For a new company however, these appear to be very impressive and much better than America's domestic ICE vehicle competition.

Personally, I don’t think it has enough luggage space. 😕 I also wish the drive line was more rear biased, and that the battery was smaller(!) to make the car lighter. Lastly, I’m not a big fan of the added complexity/weight/cost of the solar roof - and the UI seems a bit sluggish..

    I had a test drive of an Extreme version in Glasgow Scotland on Thursday and was really impressed with the ride on our potholed streets here. 22” wheels on coil springs isn’t usually great for a soft ride but I reckon it’s as good as any airsprung car. I just wish they would stop saying it’s an SUV, it’s not my 2023 Defender is an SUV, this is what we call an estate car in the UK and what you call a station wagon. It doesn’t have an elevated driving position as you are at the same height as all the other cars on the road. U fortunately the rain was coming down in stair rods and the traffic was dire in the city so I never got above about 25mph for my 40 minute drive. The build quality and the quality of the trim/ fittings is excellent, pity that it has come to the market with too many driver aids to “be added later by OTA updates”

    • @tribalypredisposed
      @tribalypredisposed 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thank you, so sick of automotive “journalists” calling a car with five inches of ground clearance an “SUV.” Lots of sports cars have more ground clearance. If they don’t know when a car is a station wagon, what do they know about cars? Also, ADAS is hard, and Fisker is not tech savvy and hired his team of programmers, who could not find jobs in an environment where automakers are desperately hiring software engineers, in a rush. Super unlikely they can ever make a working ADAS. There is a reason most legacy automakers go to MobilEye or others for ADAS.

      @@madalincosma2531zero videos of anyone even taking an Ocean on a dirt road, likely because people do not want to have to call for a tow truck. Five inches of clearance is less than a good number of sports cars have. A very heavy vehicle with cushy suspension and just five inches of clearance...keep that sucker on newly paved roads only if you want to make it anywhere.

    • @madalincosma2531
      @madalincosma2531 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @tribalypredisposed bmw ix1 has it at 17cm, ix3 at 17.9cm, ocean has it at 18cm with 22" tires.
      All are lower than ICE equivalent, but not that low. Reality is that if it sits too high the car range is even worse. An electric Defender would have enough range to reach the... gas station 🤣

    • @tribalypredisposed
      @tribalypredisposed 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@madalincosma2531 Reality is that an SUV or "crossover" should have more ground clearance. The Model S has five inches of ground clearance, it is a sedan. Model X has 6.6 inches of ground clearance or more, and the version with just 6.6 inches has been panned by many reviewers for being lacking in the off road department. Similarly, an author wrote about the Y: "...the Tesla Model Y’s ground clearance is only 6.6 inches and thus does not have enough support to deal with any tricky terrain or anything with a slight unevenness."
      I would not call anything with less than eight inches of ground clearance an SUV. Some Model X have adjustable clearance and the Performance has nine inches, those are SUVs. Calling a car with five inches of ground clearance an SUV is just factually wrong, regardless of why they decided to do that. Tesla gave their "SUV" models too little ground clearance too, but at least they have more clearance than the Tesla sedans.
      Subaru really created this category with their Outback, which has 8.7 inches of ground clearance. Because they intend for you to be able to go off on some bad dirt roads and make it.

    This Fisker Ocean looks like a very tastefully designed compromise between American design in EVs from Tesla, Lucid, Rivian, European design in EVs from BMW, a pinch of MB, Audi, some Korean trends like in Genesis EV, and a whole bunch of high appeal Chinese trends like in Volvo, Xpeng, NIO.
    The rotating screen is a must in Chinese high tech EVs which is nice.
    In Chinese EVs the bleeding edge technology is a must. Looks like customers who bought the car mostly complain about software issues.

    Its the best looking EV by far however, there are some glaring mistakes such as the none control of the rear window drop without having all other windows dropped at the same time. No android auto/car play with a hint you may get this feature OTA at some point, i want a guarantee of that. There are question marks over the solar roof and whether it does actually add charge to the battery. In the uk we are being told a 440 mile range WLTP ... This states 360, big difference. Quite a few early adopters have dropped out of taking their cars due to concerns over longevity of the brand, this is Fiskers third attempt, price drops even after some have taken delivery of their cars with a promise of free updates to chips etc. Henrik has penned some beautiful cars over the years, the Aston Martin Vantage (2005 onward) which has to go down as one of the most timeless designs ever, so i hope this time his venture works. I will wait for my time with the Ocean though.

    I think I'd go for the Volvo EX30 over the Ocean. BTW you (and other presenters) use the term "Mac Daddy" to describe a thing. What does that really mean? I looked up the definitions for "Mac Daddy" it describes "a pimp, or a virile man ..." I'm not sure how it applies to a car 😮

    • @tribalypredisposed
      @tribalypredisposed 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I assume it references the fact that the pimps of the era when that term was current slang preferred Cadillacs that were big heavy poorly engineered cars that had cushy rides but handled like a boat. If so, then it makes sense. Otherwise, no one is going to admire your style when you roll up in your obese Fisker station wagon.

    • @tribalypredisposed
      @tribalypredisposed 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@gregoryalee2457 I have not made any glaring ignorant posts. I suggested one reason a rational car buyer would prefer the Volvo, as they stated they did. Yes, Fisker madly expanding deliveries to more and more countries like no other automotive startup has before…as you are clearly new here I will explain the problem.
      If Fisker had good levels of demand for the Ocean they would just deliver to America, Austria, Germany, and maybe Norway, nations that buy lots of EVs. This costs less than setting up in a whole bunch of countries, and Fisker is so low on cash they reduced their production estimate recently stating they needed to preserve capital. So obviously it was not how flush with cash Fisker was, the reason they started deliveries at lightning speed all over the place was low demand. Likely part of the low demand was Fisker’s inability to finish their software resulting in their not wanting to let reviewers drive their car, and then bad economy to introduce an expensive station wagon into, and also station wagons are the least popular form factor for cars.
      Anyways, Fisker is trying to show a continual ramp up in production and sales so the stock market likes them, but they are losing money fast and increasing deliveries will increase their losses. Buyers obsessed with range who don’t want a Tesla can now buy a Lucid instead of an Ocean and get a far superior car for $75,000, and Lucid will not go bankrupt as they are majority owned by the Saudis.
      Anyways, Fisker will die their well deserved inevitable death of a scam that paid Henrik way too well. Meanwhile Geely, who own Volvo, will still be around. The Volvo has less range, yeah, but also a fully working UI with ADAS, and plenty of range the vast majority of the time. Maybe the Fisker would be a bit faster on a road trip, most people rarely take long road trips in their cars anyway, and road trips are when we use ADAS features the Fisker lacks.
      No question i also would go with the Volvo if picking between the two like the OP.

      You obviously have an axe to grind. OTA software updates have resolved initial issues. Most owners are extremely happy with their purchase.

      @@BartSantello No axe to grind at all. Spending 70K on a car that has six different ADAS errors just about every day with no ETA's for fixes is exactly what I should have expected. And Fisker can't confirm what version of their "software that will fix everything" I am running.

    Something about the exterior and interior design makes it look like a prior gen Chinese car. I think I’m on the only one who thinks this car looks ugly.

      Not sure this car is worth the price premium. But w so many unit available in inventory, I guess they’re not selling.

    Also I need to say it. The seats…. Couldn’t be any less sporty wow. Especially the back. It’s a friggin bench!!! Look at the polestar 3 seats and you will get what I’m saying. Rushed, crap materials. Feels extremely Cheap. So many touch points feel cheap to the touch. This thing will fail. Especially because they rushed it out. Polestar / Volvo delayed the polestar 3 / ex90 multiple times. If it’s not ready DONT PUSH IT OUT!

    I don’t understand how everyone can be so excited over a car whose companies stock is literally collapsed and wiped out millions upon 100s of millions of dollars in peoples portfolio I mean technically the company is bankrupt. It will never be able to access to capital markets ever again, so since the company eventually will go bankrupt in a couple quarters how can everyone be so excited over something like that I mean look at the stock it’s gone

      The company will not ho bankrupt. Because you sold, it's not going to happen. Watch for the partnerships on the way.

      Simple dishonesty. An automotive “journalist “ must know the Ocean is a station wagon, with just five inches of clearance, and not an SUV, too, but has a single one said it is a station wagon? Fisker could not get any money to actually start his company for years, despite a big pile of lies about having breakthroughs and patents for all kinds of things. But the magic of SPACS gave Fisker a billion dollars for his company of one laptop, nine employees, one of whom was an engineer, and some pusher car models. Something about Fisker holding the all time record for losing venture capital might be the reason, or maybe it was his last $400 million dollar capital round at Fisker Automotive, the one where he neglected to mention that the DOE had pulled their Fisker loan to investors.
      Then again, maybe investors don’t trust Fisker after he claimed their estimated deliveries by end of 2023 would be just under 60,000, then he revised that to 42,000, and revised it to 32,000, and revised it to 20-22:000, and revised it to 13-17,000, and revised it to just over 10,000…
