What amazes me the most watching Mainoo play is how calm and collected he is every single time he touches the ball. So much confidence and a rare maturity you just don’t see from every single 19 year old. Makes me proud as I played CM and have a great knowledge and understanding of his position. Midfield is the engine room of the entire team! And this kid rarely ever makes a wrong decision. The impact he’s had on the England squad can not be understated. It’s no coincidence they move the ball 10x better through the middle when he’s in the game! This kid has got the whole world in his hands right now and I can not wait to watch him grow !
Kobbie really is the real deal, does all the simple things all the time and then has the odd flash of the incredible on top of it. Just makes the right decision and even if he doesn't or gets a poor ball he doesn't panic. Amazing at 19
Agreed. Made it to OT to watch the Liverpool game last season and was really impressed with Kobbie.
The scary thing is that he’s still lacking slightly in physicality ~ once he beefs up aged 21-22 he is going to be an absolute menace. Passing, touch, control, vision, skills is all there already but, yeah, he’s got levels to hit yet and I reckon he will get there too.
Exactly Mainoo never looks out of place when he's playing or club or country.
As someone who played up front for years and played only a few times at CM, CM is fucking hard!

However, have you watched Bellingham this tournament… I’d score him 6 out of 10, and 1 point is for the goals alone as he’s otherwise been almost completely anonymous and some more time moaning, lying around. He was anonymous in the 2 semi’s and final of the CL too.
Good player, but the giddiness about him is almost insanely overhyped.
He’s a bit too full of himself too for the level of performance he’s exhibited.
Back to Mainoo …he’s been a 6.5-7 out of 10. Nothing amazing here in Germany but nevertheless prob one of the brighter sparks for England
personally I don't see how Bellingham is so great. Nor foden, Nor Kane. These players are overhyped, man for man this england team is one of the worst in years. International football talent has declined and these tournaments aren't as good.

If someone told you one midfielder plays for Madrid and and one is coming up through the ranks at man united you would think mainoo is the one at Madrid and Bellingham is the up and comer
I'm not sure about that. Bellingham hasn't been good but you can see a mile off he does have the ability. The way he glides across the pitch, his physical attributes etc. We definitely aren't getting the best out of him in that 10 role though. I'd personally play Palmer at 10 and move Bellingham back a bit into more of an 8 alongside Mainoo with Rice in the dm

Bellingham goes missing in many matches. He is talented, no doubt but at the moment he looks bang average. Other than that important last minute goal he hasn't had any special moment, nor has he contributed much in the game. Even in champions league final, his teammates carried him through. I know he is special but he needs to do much more and be more consistent

Luke Shaw is not ready, he's not even close to match fit and stand more chance of getting injured, he certainly won't play to the level he's capable of.

At most, 45 mins, anything more puts Shaw at great risk.
If Shaw is anything like me he'll risk more to play for his nation, a lot of people would.
He may be better that Trippier in that position, but that's because Southgate is a retard and didn't select players better suited.
Shaw, not through talent, shouldn't even be there but Southgate doesn't seem to mind risking a players career and using up a place in the national squad that was better suited to win the cup

Facts. He is good defensively but he is not a natural DM. He is so talented that he can do a job there but he'd be wasted being played there permanently. He reminds me of a mix of Seedorf and Modric.

What struck me about Mainoo is his weight and direction of pass. It always seems perfect for the receiving player.

Kobbie's most attractive attribute, apart from his football skills, is his humility. A quiet, hard worker. I'm sure it will continue...
For now. All this hype at an early age is difficult to ignore. I hope he stays grounded.

Why we surprised? He's been balling at united since day one. And he's stood out in a poor united side.
England players don't pass to him as much. He can take it anywhere under pressure and play out. He always plays the right pass.
Last 2 England games I watch him. He's always running to be offering something always open but they don't just slip it to him. He's class and if they let him have the ball more... he will dictate the whole play.
That is infuriating sometimes.
Now we just need the City defenders to pass to him … so annoying when the pass is on but they don't trust him.

Mainoo brings that swag to the team, you could see it with Rice and Foden. After they receive the ball from Mainoo and the way he touches the ball, you see Rice and Foden putting that sauce when they receive the ball.

His class is so evident along with what he has shown everyone to date which is his undeterred level of consistency I seriously do not see kobbie Mainoo producing what you mention, as a bad or poor season, a sign of a gulf in class & ability between him & other more seasoned players is he never seems to fall below a certain performance level or standard that we've come to expect from him.
That's a good deal to do with having such a mature temprement alongside a natural ability to not give the ball away & focus to his decision making.
He has all the attributes plus consistency of performance, he reminds me of the best midfielder of European football of the last 15 yrs,
Luka Modric of Real Madrid.
Mainoos potential & stock Is that high it concerns me that as Midric's career is coming to an end, mainoo's is deffo gonna be top of Madrid shortlist to replace him,
It would be a very very sad day were United to lose someone of his ilk, players like Mainoo as everyone knows do not simply happen along very often.
If it were to happen, then any side that had the duel force of talent combining both Mainoo & Bellingham in it then any other clubs with an eye on lifting the champions league should simply put it out of their mind.
I prey as a Man U fan united sign the lad up to a ten year deal taking him to 29 by which time although at peak powers he may choose to retire given how much football he will have played at that point, as already mentioned he's already virtually undroppable that's is both for Club & Country, that's a lot of games over ten yrs, Man U must do everything in their power to retain his services at old Trafford for the foreseeable future & the long term.

I love listening to the ABUs trying to make out that Mainoo is overrated, and being unable to admit that he's been easily one of England's best and most consistent players.

Mainoo seems to pick the right pass/move every time. Bellendham seems to give the ball away constantly, turn into trouble and miss a passing opportunity because he wants to beat his man four times to show how good he is. All the gear-no idea.
Mainoo should be first name on the team sheet, Bellendham should be dropped to teach him a bit of humility.

While I was unhappy that Mainoo (19) was put out to face the journalists after England's 1-0 awkward win against Serbia, where he was only allowed to play 4 minutes, (why not send out the big men Southgate trusts like TAA?) I did like how he handled the question about potentially playing for Ghana. You can only play for one national football association. It is an either/or choice. Whereas for individuals, their identity can be more complex. It's not either/or, but both. He was sprung this weird question (Rooney qualified for Ireland - not sure he ever got asked about playing for Ireland), and managed to answer it well without dismissing Ghana.
Rooney was asked about it quite a bit actually, but then I don't think both his parents were Irish. Giggs was asked about it a hell of a lot.

@@michaelwilkinson9425 Bruno isn’t a midfielder, he’s a forward who is the main reason we have a black hole in midfield every time we lose the ball (normally it’s him giving it away on transitions) doesn’t even cover it up anymore with goals and assists.
