Wow. How can we not have high hopes under ineos. First the quality appointments of people in charge of making decisions and then signing of talented players like zirkzee , yoro and more to come. These people will bring our glory days back.
The important thing for me is...If they had made Varane happen back in the day, they would have had him for the peak years, and would've retained his value for another decade plus. This is the kind of vision we are seeing now, except now it's not the in rear view mirror. I don't think this is insignificant for Madrid (I know because I also follow them) because I think Yoro would have played for them this year on a limited basis. Alaba is probably out until the winter, and Nacho moved on. They also sold one of their academy players to Napoli. So he would've been fourth choice at worst if they didn't go out and buy a defender. I think they took their eye off of the ball here. Also, this is good getting him in early, there is some time to settle in before the season starts. Many times our big transfers come in after the season has already begun.

Playing more, watching a lot of games, being interested in the tactical side of the game all makes the difference between a good defender and a really good one.
