Anyone who has immersed themselves in dance can relate to the emotion that can come from experiencing the art. This guy was fantastic, extremely talented, and not afraid to push the boundaries which made it awesome! For the older dancer, it is sometimes for a sadness that their body once did but can not.anymore.
Adam started hyperventilating and crying for Amanda Lowe's Vegas solo as well. It's nothing to do with the dancer being male. Seeing someone move to music from a real genuine place stirs up a lot of emotions, same as when you hear a singer sing from from their gut and it makes you feel like tearing up. Not everything is about sex, Geez.
I don't think I could ever cry watching someone dance like that. Maybe I could. I regret that I couldn't. I'm glad people are out there who do/can to remind the rest of us that feeling things in life makes it better.
Form what I remember the judge dude was going through some hard times (like a breakup or something) and Billy's dance depicted how he was feeling and thats why he cried.
dance is emotional for people because its an art. music is an art and it makes people cry when they first hear something. film is an art, and movies make people cry all the time. dance is the same - it pulls emotions out of you and its supposed to
I watched Polunin's Take me to Church and I found lot of empty steps, then thought about Billy. If every talented dancers had one tenth of Billy's heart... Love Billy.
Absolutely beautiful. So young and so talented. His performance is a pure moment of grace; his dance, his movements are natural like water over rocks. He is a dance's poet.
Billy was one of my favorites in Season 7.. I was watching another TH-cam video and this song started playing&I knew that I had heard this song before.. then I remembered BILLLLLLLYYY
I met Billy and had a master class with him hes so amazing and very funny and nice! The combo he taught us was really difficult but he also helped us a LOT with our improving skills!!! I love Billy!!!
For people bitching about the judge crying - since when can you tell if they're actually touched or not??? Get over yourselves. He was touched by the performance. End of story.
its cause the energy is there.... how hard they both worked in dance......end of discussion is correct, Wood..... are yall fucking stupid? Get some emotional intelligence.... I'm fuckin.... beside myself.....with how dumb a society could possibly get.... fuck me

That's quite the reaction. For my money it was good, but not that good. Here's the thing, though. I've had similar reactions to routines that have left others fairly unimpressed. I just love that dance can bring out emotions so strongly.
Music does that to me, too.. I've had to pull over driving because a song I'd never heard before got to me like that.. that's what makes art so integral to the human experience and I feel sorry for anyone who has never experienced an emotional response to music, dance, visual arts, poetry, some expression of some other human's soul
jarah weeks, you are so right. I would say, there was pure joy in that dance. that's what made it beautiful and overwhelming,as far as i am concerned. For richard stapleton: sorry you missed that.
how amazing must it feel to be able to get someone to cry just because of the beauty you dance with. well done bill. well done. you are an inspiration for many
I find it quite interesting how impressed MIa was by Billy's performance here, which was definitely beautiful in many ways, but she was so mean spirited when she first saw Brandon Bryant dance, saying I just don't see it, meaning what Mary and the others saw in Brandon, an extraordinary, composed and strong dancer.
I just wish they had shown more of him dancing. I don't want to watch another guy cry over how beautiful something is... I want to watch it and cry myself lol
SOOOO sorry to hear that Billy won't be staying with the show this season! He had been my early favourite! AMAZING dancer! Gorgeous to watch! Here's hoping that he will be able to be back next year!
knowing him since i was 2, and he was probably 11 or 12, watching him grow up into this. takes me breath away. i remember when i was like 4, always thinking how famous he was going to be.. im SO glad i had the luck to get to know himm.
The way a real dancer carries itself is the way it shows it's emotions. They put their pain and sweat and all their hard work into this one song hoping that people out there would understand their pain, hoping that they can feel it. Crying doesn't make you weak. Crying doesn't make you gay. Crying shows that you understand, crying shows that you are a human and that you have feelings. I thought this dance was beautiful and even though I didn't cry, I felt his pain. He displayed it beautifully.
I still don't know why this routine touches me so much. I've watched it here and there, with time in between, and every time, it still has the same impact.
I was rooting for Billy Bell to win. After seeing this audition, I was amazed by how the music just flows through him. He dances with the music, not to the music. Unfortunately, SYTYCD forces its contestants to perform styles of dance that they are just not trained for. I remember Billy doing Krunk. A gentle soul such as Billy should not be wasting time on such a harsh style. Contemporary and Billy go hand in hand. I wonder where Billy is now and what he is doing in dance.
i think that it's perfect, i'm a contemporary dancer and i'm an actress, and i think that really it's perfect dancing, and a big interpreter from the music. brava !
I appreciate that. My issue isn't with Shankman(I adore him), but with the producers for the way in which they edited this clip. They focused way too much on the judges instead of giving us a chance to feel what they felt.
god i just wanna get inside his brain. its not the dancing ability that makes a dancer its definitely their thinking, their ability to choreography. amazing.
People who comment negative opinions about Adam need to grow up. I found this dance beautiful and full of emotion and that is exactly why Adam got emotional, because he was touched by Billy performance.
Strength has little to do with emotion. Strength is defined by how much pain or suffering you can endure and still keep a calm demeanor whilst moving towards a goal. Mental strength is the most valuable trait to have. Emotional strength is how one can control their demeanor. I feel like I don't need to dive into Physical strength. But out of all the three if I could choose one I would want to polish my mental strength more than anything. Mental strength is foundation to all strengths.
wow he got really emotional, the kid was good, wow very awsome judge,i love reall people like this judge,he could tell that billy put his all into this routine and thats special :)
This never gets old. He dances so freely. Always brings a tear to my eye.
I adore that he got so emotional over this dance. It proves that he is effected by the language of dance and deserves to be a judge.
Adam is a sucker for a good dance. He always gets the feels.
Affected*. He's also one of the producers. Apparently he was also going through a breakup?
It's kind of beautiful to be able to cry because you love a piece of art so much.
It’s 2020 and This is Us brought me back to this beautiful song and choreography. Thank you Billy for this memory.
Me too!!❤

This guy was fantastic, extremely talented, and not afraid to push the boundaries which made it awesome! I love when you can see the air under a dancer. When they make their arms and legs look weightless. It's beautiful.
Adam started hyperventilating and crying for Amanda Lowe's Vegas solo as well. It's nothing to do with the dancer being male. Well said!! :))
YEs, that's true. I could feel him
Do you mean Amelia lowe?
cause i cant find any videos with Amanda Lowe dancing with Adam watching... do you have a link maybe?
Thank you for your mature reply. I wish more people were like you and would look deeper!!
that's what art does-it moves you but only if you are strong enough let it
Billy Bell...one of the best dancers the show has seen. I never moved liked him, but I do miss dancing on that level.
I love Adam's sincerity. I love how dance can speak to you with more meaning than words can, sometimes.
Billy Bell was always one of my favorite dancers.
I was not going through a breakup, and Billy's dancing made me cry too. Still does. You can just see how.... healing dance is for him.
But that does make sense, Adam was quite emotional that whole season.
dance is emotional for people because its an art. music is an art and it makes people cry when they first hear something. film is an art, and movies make people cry all the time. dance is the same - it pulls emotions out of you and its supposed to
I watched Polunin's Take me to Church and I found lot of empty steps, then thought about Billy. If every talented dancers had one tenth of Billy's heart... Love Billy.
i’ve worked with Billy Bell before I love him so much and he’s so nice and genuine
WOW!!! Art in motion. Beautiful performance. Well done Billy!
Absolutely beautiful. So young and so talented.
His performance is a pure moment of grace; his dance, his movements are natural like water over rocks.
He is a dance's poet.
I watch this all these years later and still weep. The power of dance is immense.
He is so amazing!!! It's coming from the heart and soul.
I love when the judges get this emotional, the fact that dance can produce that sort of emotion in him is beautiful and almost humbling.
I totally get it....It would really have been nice to see more. Billy was brilliant and the music was wonderful.
Omg!!! Chills @ :40!!!! Sooo much emotion in his dance!!! INCREDIBLE DANCER!!!
He dances UNBELIEVABLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have no words. He is so talented!!!!!!
I can have watched this over one hundred times for over ten years and I literally cry still. Billy BECAME the music!!!! So so so so phenomenal❤❤❤❤
the most gorgeous solo ever.... breathtaking.
I will seriously never forget this audition. He LIVED that. Breathtaking.
That was powerful! His movements were so fluid
This boy right here , is one of the most beautiful dancers I've ever seen . I think it's more than acceptable , to get emotional because of his dance
I'm fuckin.... beside myself.....with how dumb a society could possibly get.... fuck me
Beauty thrills.
I dont know what it is about this dance...the emotion, the passion, the music...but it keeps me coming back everytime i want to be inspired.

Where is there more of Billys Wonder? This is Beyond amazing❤️
wow.... just simply amazing.... I think I've watched this about a hundred times and it never gets old...
That's quite the reaction. For my money it was good, but not that good. Here's the thing, though. I've had similar reactions to routines that have left others fairly unimpressed. I just love that dance can bring out emotions so strongly.
I think I remember him saying it was personal to him "triggering" if you will
yes that right! OH MY God.... So beautiful billy.....
Most of the people here commenting saying that he's over dramatic must not know anything about the dance world
Music does that to me, too.. I've had to pull over driving because a song I'd never heard before got to me like that.. that's what makes art so integral to the human experience and I feel sorry for anyone who has never experienced an emotional response to music, dance, visual arts, poetry, some expression of some other human's soul
just that song makes me emotional... the dance billy did just took it to a whole new level. so beautiful.
what's the name of the song?
+sara brito The cinematic orchestra - to build a home :)
Dance is so interpretive. You could really feel the connection between forms that is irreplaceable between those two lines. To see that is rare.
Broke a 12 year time loop to say that
that was awkward
jarah weeks, you are so right. I would say, there was pure joy in that dance. that's what made it beautiful and overwhelming,as far as i am concerned. For richard stapleton: sorry you missed that.
Judge just climaxed. Lmaoo
how amazing must it feel to be able to get someone to cry just because of the beauty you dance with. well done bill. well done. you are an inspiration for many
Why? Why? Why? He is very good but there have been many much better sytycd dancers who never caused such a reaction.
If I'm not mistaken, I first watched this back in 2008. Can't believe it has been almost 14 years and I miss the vibe back then. 11/02/2022
Revisit - 10/10/2024

I could just watch this over and over and over... well actually I have. LOVE IT!
The Greatest Audition of all Time!
SOOOO sorry to hear that Billy won't be staying with the show this season! He had been my early favourite! AMAZING dancer! Gorgeous to watch! Here's hoping that he will be able to be back next year!
to build a home by the cinematic orchestra, one of the best songs in the world
he is too beautiful for words..
I know exactly how he felt. Beautiful Expressions makes me cry also...
For me this was the best audition ever on the show.
Adam, I cried too man. This is like reckless abandon the way he dances. He literally has no gravity and he told a great story with his movement.
knowing him since i was 2, and he was probably 11 or 12, watching him grow up into this. takes me breath away. i remember when i was like 4, always thinking how famous he was going to be.. im SO glad i had the luck to get to know himm.
Each moves were strong yet gentle and each stroke was so emotional as well
... such free-flow of emotion ... moves me ... Good on you Mate .... Good on you !
That boy could dance forever and I wuld watch him forever and cry every time

one of the best dancers on the show!
This was so beautiful - pure and emotive - prayer like. Thank you for posting!
i love watching men dance, to see grace, strength, power and balance all in the same movements is amazing

Still, theee greatest audition ever!!!!
Soooooooooo beautiful in every way...
it's weird to not have a talent like this season 8, but it's a load of really good dancers this top 20... I personally can't wait.
that song always makes me cry...i'm not even lying, it's one of my favorite songs on my ipod.
i think that it's perfect, i'm a contemporary dancer and i'm an actress, and i think that really it's perfect dancing, and a big interpreter from the music. brava !
billy will always be one of my favorite dancers from sytycd.
I love Billy so much. I can't stop watching this
GORGEOUS! I wish I could dance like this and evoke this kind of emotion..
The Passion in Fluid Motion Flowed with True Emotion
CINEMATIC ORCHEASTRA - BUILD A HOME!!! I Literally flipped over when i heard the song.
This is so amazing. I recorded the episode on dvr and watched it so many times!
Oh my god it's so cute how emotional this guy gets. I just want to hug him. :D
I appreciate that. My issue isn't with Shankman(I adore him), but with the producers for the way in which they edited this clip. They focused way too much on the judges instead of giving us a chance to feel what they felt.
when I met billy bell, I bawled my eyes out. no joking, he's the most beautiful dancer ever.
god i just wanna get inside his brain. its not the dancing ability that makes a dancer its definitely their thinking, their ability to choreography. amazing.
his dancing brings me to tears
:') i love adam so much. his reaction to this performance is so genuine and he is so moved it makes me tear up. this is why i love art.
Kid dances with, not heart, but goddamn soul
People who comment negative opinions about Adam need to grow up. I found this dance beautiful and full of emotion and that is exactly why Adam got emotional, because he was touched by Billy performance.

I think that judge need to dance too ! .......so beautiful ....& handsome !
This is completely beautiful. They've just caught love at first sight on camera.
I wish I could have an emotional reaction this strong to any kind of art.
this is great!! i have to miss great dance moves to see that freaking crying expressions. the editors are such suckers.. x-(
SOLO EL QUE SIENTE LA MUSICA SABE COMO EXPRESARLA
.... ME PARECE LO MAS ARTISTICO Y EMOCIANALMENTE EXOPRESADO EN UNA FORMA FISICA AL EXTREMO
Absolutely beautiful dance. Honestly - this is amazing.
