Finally a packing demo based on airline size AND weight limit. Air New Zealand and Jet star for travel between NZ and Aussie have the strict weight restriction of 7kg. Your bag is only 1kg in empty weight but provides space, multi pocket and usb charge options. Best lightweight bag I have seen.great. Thank you for sharing.

The light tote to carry the vest is genius. Thank you.

The only addition I would have to your packing video would be instead of just shoving the smaller backpack into the larger backpack (you'll never be able to compress all of the air out of it so it's still going to take up a ridiculous amount of space) I would have actually packed my things into the smaller backpack. Then when the small backpack was full it will still fit inside of the larger backpack and almost act as a compression cube so that you could fit more stuff inside a smaller space. You probably wouldn't have needed the travel vest everything could have fit in the backpack possibly.

The vest with stuff in the pockets is to get past the weight requirement. If she’s wearing it, it won’t count against the 7kg :)

I was thinking the same thing. Or, what I did on my last trip is buy the 2nd bag at my destination before my return trip, especially if on an airplane where weight is a consideration or you want to put your backpack under the seat if no overhead room.

I love your video. I do a lot of traveling so I'm always looking for great ways to lighten my load especially when flying and I'm only using a backpack. Two things I want to mention; I bought a super lightweight packable backpack from Amazon. It take up practically no room at all and I find it so handy to have. You can check your heavier backpack on the way home and use the smaller one for your personal item. However, I find that depending on where you are, you can have items shipped home which would be cheaper than checking a bag on the return trip. Also, the phone lanyard is gold! I don't know why more people don't use one. I always keep my phone on one during my trip. I like to take a lot of pictures and it prevents me from having to go in and out of my purse. If I'm in a really crowded area, I slip it inside my shirt or jacket. Enjoy your travels!

I pack exactly like you -I bought a fishermen's jacket in aliexpress but added more pockets and even in the back-, but I also carry a stuffable travel pillow, they sell them in amazon and aliexpress and wear it around my neck when I enter the plane. The personal item I put on the upper part and once I"m seated I remove the jacket, put it inside the tote bag under the seat. I carry an extremely small purse under my jacket where I have money, cellphone, passorts etc.

FYI, Zipair now will weigh and tag all your bags. If they spot an untagged bag after security, they can check again.

Zip Air was $700 roundtrip but I decided to spend the extra $300 to fly United. I’ve never flown the budget airlines and if I can help it I never will. There are other options besides the fishing vest. I have a fleece coat which looks very nice and is comfortable but on the inside noone would ever know how many pockets and just how much I could store. Literally I could carry iPads and many other things. The coat is made with a structure so it will not droop either. I carry all of my electronics in the coat as well as everything that I would typically carry in my pants pockets. That way when I go through security I just take the coat off to get scanned and that’s it. My travel belt has a plastic buckle so no need to remove it. I fly out tomorrow! All the best to you

I thought you have to take everything electric out of your jacket and place it in a bin. I just learned something new. thank you. Have a safe trip. I'll be going to Japan soon. Can you bring snacks and treats back in your carry on or personal bag? Do I have to take it out from the original package and put it in a zip lock?

@@sovyc977 no need to remove anything out of your jacket pockets. Just place the jackets with the pockets full in the bin to go through the xray machine. I don’t bring a laptop with me any longer otherwise I thing you’d still need to take that out. I have TSA Pre so I’m not sure if I would need to do that but I don’t worry about it since I don’t bring the laptop.
Bring all the snacks you can carry bro. The liquids is what the TSA folks have problems with

Passenger: Uses vest to store the other stuff and puts it in a tote bag so the backpack is less than 7kgs.
Airline: Sees the overstuffed vest and weighs everything at check-in.
    Bam! Excess baggage.
The Cerave bottle -leave it or transfer the contents in a smaller container that’s less than 100ml.

I like to go really light on toiletries. I can get away with so much less than I ever dreamed I could. I haven't washed my face or body in over a decade and it makes no difference (I do wash my hands, I wash my feet if I'm wearing sandals, and I use makeup remover to take off tinted SPF). I am hair product free - I dont even use shampoo. My minimal makeup includes mascara, tinted SPF, and lip gloss. I also bring my fave deodorant by Esca (Welsh brand). I don't do any hair removal anymore, but I'm lucky to have very light hair that is not very noticeable. Using so little is a great way to save weight, space, money, and time. (To be fair, you do need 4+ weeks to get over the initial greasy hair phase, and if you have hard water you need a vinegar rinse or something like that.) Being super minimal with toiletries in both my life and travel has been awesome and I would recommend it to anyone. Try it on a trip just to see what you can get away with! Just for info, I'm in my 40s and I used tons of skincare products when I was younger. I gradually phased them out, just out of laziness. My skin is softer than it ever was with all the products! Also, I do love showers but I pretty much use only water on a daily basis. I had to remove garlic from my diet for other reasons but a nice side effect was that it made my body odor disappear!

What a pointless video.... Shocked that you'd even post it... Since you're shopping while there and having extra luggage coming back, and by your own admission not needing to take as much as you would have because of this then it negates the whole purpose that the name of the video puts forward... Man... I went away with a 7kg case last month on a trip to Bali and had a check in bag coming home.... No way would I deceive viewers by saying look at this 7 kg packing video when I knew I was supplementing it with purchases...
