My private teacher told me a story of his detachable euphonium bell coming off and hitting the floor in an audition. I wish none of my enemies to go through that lmfao.
Playing too low and too high has always been a problem for all trombonist. No joke. I dreaded all the time while my trombone that “DAM, not again with me playing too low and too high and that dreaded double buzzing”. One of my favorite stories was when we were coming in for Sleigh ride, like the absolute beginning of the song. (Original one by Leroy Anderson) I lift up my trombone, and the spit valve catches on my dress! I missed my entrance trying not to flash everybody 💀💀💀
I’m a big fan of Ravel, and also Boléro. I think every iteration of both themes should play to the strengths of the instruments being played while also being played cleanly and rather straightforwardly-except the trombone. That should be played fucking raunchy and dirty as fuck.

As a trombone player it’s very hard for me to hit high notes, My band teacher is an Oboe player so she doesn’t get the struggle. Like she doesn’t know about brass instruments that much. She once told me to put water on my slide instead of my SPECIAL SLIDE OIL THAT WAS MADE FOR MY TROMBONE.
