The new steam families is great... for actual families that has money. The problem with the new families is this: 1. You can only have 6 people now. Thats down from the 10 that it used to be. 2. Being able to play the same game is great, but youre more than likely sharing with kids... meaning you *still have to buy more copies*. 3. If you have a large family, you have to choose your 6 wisely. If you are removed from a family, you have to wait 1 year to join again. On top of that, if you have someone join and they decided to move out or become busy or get a real job, what have you, and thet stop playing, you now have dead weight. Sure you can remove and add another, but its still frustrating to have to decide. 4. If ANYONE on your steam family breaks the steam rules, everyone in the family is banned. That seems a bit rough and a L A R G E chunk of change down the tube. I hope they decide to keep the last steam sharing as an option. It works well for those on night shift 😂
It's probably too late now at 3 weeks, but I want to highly recommend contacting Customer Support and seeing if they can retroactively price match. You sometimes get lucky with Steam customer support and find someone who is *extremely* generous. If it works, I can even share your story in the next video, if you like 😅
@@FanTheDeck lol it's only a 30$ difference anyways. I think that's well worth the time I've had messing around with my deck. I just find it funny that the refurbished model is more expensive than a new one right now, 449CAD for a refurbished 512gb model vs 419CAD for a new one.
Idk if you mentioned it, I'm at 7:10 but GTA 5 is not compatible with steam deck anymore because they implemented battlEye and forgot to add the Linux compatibility, so for now I will have 120gb of storage free

Emudeck needs to work on their Windows version, have everything sync well and be easy to install, and make it so you're easily able to stream the games from your PC to the Steam Deck. MY gaming PC is way more powerful than Steam Deck, but it would be really great to stream it to my deck. Maybe that functionality is already there, but honestly, the windows version is confusing to me.
don't confuse badly made games for "high end games". Elden ring, baldurs gate, actually good games with a high number of things actually happening that justify high specs. not ubislop and squeenix poor excuse for "games"
Sorry but Steam STILL missed the mark on family sharing.. I have two xbox consoles one in my living room and its set as my home console and it has access to ALL my games and game pass and my family can access everything.. and heres the REAL kicker even if I am playing a game on the console in my room and family wants to play with me they CAN without having to buy another copy.. my suspicion is Valve has game plubishers in their ear telling them not to do that
I can not imagine how slow it would be to use Virtual ram as GPU memory. The SSD in Steamdeck is like 20-25 times slower than the ram bandwidth so even if it is possible, it is nothing you want.
@AndrewTSq virtual ram is just an emergency thing super slow. You can also use your ram as a storage device for super fast speed. But once you turn off your PC all the data on the ram is wiped.
@@NatsumeKonno Yes, I used ram-disks already back in the mid 80ies. Steam family looks really good, but it's not flawless and depending on your situation it may not be the best either. I'm not familiar with all different systems but at least the way Xbox does it has some advantages over steam family. One is that it works for all games... On Steam publishers can opt out and last I heard the number of games doing this was rising rather quickly. The other is that you actually can play the same game with two people without going offline. You can even play it online together. The disadvantage to Xbox's system is it is pretty much restricted to two people/consoles (without elaborate tricks). So if there's just two of you and especially if you want to play games online together, Xbox is far superior. If there's more of you, you play individually and your games are mostly supporting the feature, then yeah steam is awesome.

The new steam families is great...
for actual families that has money.
The problem with the new families is this:
I guess I must have been in the beta or something, because me and my brother have been sharing games with this new family thing for months now.
YES, Steam Familly, the best feature ever! Now I can really share my 500 Games with my Daughter and her Steam Deck finally was a great value gift :)!
I fear publishers are going to block family as soon as they figure it out.
I jist bought a refurbished deck 3 weeks ago and now its on sale lol
It's probably too late now at 3 weeks, but I want to highly recommend contacting Customer Support and seeing if they can retroactively price match. You sometimes get lucky with Steam customer support and find someone who is *extremely* generous. If it works, I can even share your story in the next video, if you like 😅
@@FanTheDeck lol it's only a 30$ difference anyways. I think that's well worth the time I've had messing around with my deck. I just find it funny that the refurbished model is more expensive than a new one right now, 449CAD for a refurbished 512gb model vs 419CAD for a new one.
Not sure about elsewhere, but I checked steam and the LCD models are already sold out here.
@@552jacki3 Agreed! Totally fair. Glad you're enjoying 😍
Idk if you mentioned it, I'm at 7:10 but GTA 5 is not compatible with steam deck anymore because they implemented battlEye and forgot to add the Linux compatibility, so for now I will have 120gb of storage free
@3:11
What is the name of this game again?
The FPS that looks like Steam Boat Willie?
MOUSE: P.I. For Hire
The only thing that annoys me about the new family sharing is that you have to wait up to a year before you can join a new family. Which makes me hesitant to use it
Agree we don't need companies that don't want make it work with proton with there games, is not like we running out of games to play and alot the new AAA type of games do work and most that don't work are trying to nickle and dime people.
Anong all gaming platforms/companies today, it feels like Valve/Steam is the only one doing the right thing.
I hope re4r gets fsr 3 like cyberpunk, the game desperately needs it
Tony Hawk Pro 1 & 2 Re-Remastered Release... here we go!
Yeah, It's time to let it go.
Its sad that black myth wukong is completely playable on the steam deck and stars war's is not is just sad.
I have been sharing games with my cousin in Argentina since family sharing was a thing. We shared our libraries with each other but now we can't. It won't let us join because he is another country 😞
It's really dumb too because steam recommends I add them to my family yet neither of us can accept
This is in fact the biggest disappointment about the new Family Sharing. I understand what they're trying to avoid but your situation, for example, seems 1000% reasonable. I'm sorry about that man
I won’t change it until I have to. I have all my family set up with 5 people all over the country. I’m afraid I’ll lose them and their 1500 games
"I'll leave a link to the patch notes in the description"
Looking in description....hmmmm.
Shoot. Just updated. Thanks for the heads up. Here's the link: steamcommunity.com/games/1675200/announcements/detail/4583064247488721810?snr=2___
If Denuvo and EAC don't want to play nice with Linux, then I say good! I left Windows precisely to get away from anti-consumer malware!
Hey Rich! Thanks for your videos!
I like to watch them so much! 😀
I'm listing my Steam Deck for sale today. It's the 1 TB OLED module and will include the Killswitch case and cover, the Jsaux case and some other goodies. I just don't use it. And every time I go to use it, battery life is down 20% or more even though I shut it down rather than put it to sleep. I'd rather have the money at this point.
Quick start probs
Nah PlayStation game sharing is limited but at least you both can play the same game at the same time
If it can be done via translation layer then the publishers/developers won't need to add Linux support
16:42 while they probably do look cool I wouldn’t want my hands smelling like old penny’s after each gaming session (apparently some people love that smell but it makes me feel sick).
I would recommend playing FFXVI on your steam deck. With some hard tweaking, I able to get 40-60 FPS.
i hope they updated original steamdeck drivers for windows :/
don't confuse badly made games for "high end games".
Elden ring, baldurs gate, actually good games with a high number of things actually happening that justify high specs.
not ubislop and squeenix poor excuse for "games"
You can get the 512gb LCD for less than the 256gb LCD right now
23 likes, 17min video, & was posted 6min ago… 🤔
Let the conspiracy theories flow 🪬
Sorry but Steam STILL missed the mark on family sharing.. I have two xbox consoles one in my living room and its set as my home console and it has access to ALL my games and game pass and my family can access everything.. and heres the REAL kicker even if I am playing a game on the console in my room and family wants to play with me they CAN without having to buy another copy.. my suspicion is Valve has game plubishers in their ear telling them not to do that
lol gpu's have so damn far we don't need ram for them any more. amazing.
On sale less than a week after I get mine
Spelunky!! such a great game!!
GPU has vram. Even if your out of ram your SSD can be used as ram also called virtual ram.
Also great cause when you where coding and the cpu crashed it sometimes ruined your harddrives filesystem which was not the case when using the ram-disk. Anyway, Intel on their 740i graphicscard, actually tried to use the mainram as vram.
On PS, my son and I can play online on two separate consoles with only one digital copy.
how???
Libraryshare, one is the main console and every acc on that has the games etc. And the other one is just his account that is on main of the other console @@goalyhost
@@goalyhostgame sharing
@goalyhost make sure the second console is the primary. In my case, my son plays on PS4 as a primary console, and I play on a PS5.
Same on Xbox and Nintendo switch.
idk how, but CDPR dropped the ball giving us FSR3.0 which is already almost now a Year old and have been upgraded to FSR3.1 which offers better upscaling quality and the ability to use FG on other upscaler methods.
The current implementation is really bad and suffers from Ghosting.
I highly recommend downloading a FG mod like DLSS Enabler or if you have it LukeFZ's mod for Frame Gen and use Intel Xess 1.3 if you're on AMD
15 WATT WARRIORS
Steam Deck needs to enable latest stable Proton by default. As it stands it looks like none of the Windows games work, just a greyed out install button.
Use Lutris
As big as GPUs are getting, sure, why not put a full SoC with CPU on there 😅
It's kinda annoying that game sharing doesn't work like playstation where u only need one person to buy the game
Yeah, but max 2 and password sharing
Colt Eastwood quickly became my least favorite of all the next-gen hype train from 2020 creators
I thought about redacting the user name and maybe I should have but yeah... I hear you man.
hmm.. you do need *some* sort of music :)
6:54 wait until Bungine bans all players who play on Steam Deck because EAC is not in kernal mode anymore. Its gonna happen because they hate Steam Deck Users and Linux. Bungine wont bend the knee with Microsoft or Proton they see it as a threat.
To give up On all that deck loader stuff every time I downloaded it my screen will go black and never come back on. I’d have too hard format my steam deck again.
WHAT! No ram??? But I always download my ram....never needed it to begin with.......amateurs.......
How well does Star Wars Outlaws run in Windows if you happen to have a dual boot Steam Deck?
can i use steam families in some way so i can play two games at once? id use my steamdeck way more often if i could play a game on it while playing a game on my pc. having to go into offline is bs.
So basically, theres hardly anything new or truly useful? Got it.
Can I use Steam family to share my games with a friend?
tonk hawk 3+4 maybe
I hope it’s thug
Whats the name of that mickey mouse style game?? Looks fun
I dont know why you think Steam Familie is the best Feature ever
I cant share my library with my Friends in another town, this Feature is very Disappointing
THUG 1 remake!!!!!
I have the legion go, and an ally x (although i had to send it to get fixed due to black screen crashes while gaming) I’ve thought about trading the legion go for an Oled steam deck. Bad idea?
Nixos masterrace
Owning a business is all about making profits purposely making your games not work on an operating system that a lot of people are using they are only hurting them self.
Are they aware of how much money they are loosing?
Imagine is Valve did the strongarm technique and banned games with kernal level anticheats from it's storefront. Would be a big W for the gaming community.
How is FSR4 gonna work on Steam Deck? Isn't it gonna need specific hardware to use, like DLSS?
Yes. I said the next steam Deck. So steam Deck 2
For me if it don't work on Linux i won't buy it/play it as i refuse to use Windows anymore, it's not worth it, this OS is too buggy and it gets worse in every update and new stallment.
At 3:00 in, what is the old black and white, cartoon looking FPS?
Mouse P.I.
Steam showing yet how consumer friendly they can be and why other playforms are so far behind.
They miss out on so many game sales with this feature, it’s kinda insane. Huge respect to Valve for setting this example and high standard towards costumers
Valve release all this Family functionality, support for "Child" accounts without any mention as to what you're supposed to do for children under the age of 13?
I review the games I share for my 6 year old. If I haven't reviewed it. It doesn't get on the list.
Parents should be able to parent their pre-13 year olds without assistance from Valve
@@Aethelbeorn so your six year old has an account?? Valve don't allow accounts for under 13s....
