since I recommended my daughter to follow your channel because she likes to draw and paint a lot, she is delighted, it's amazing how much she draws and follows you ❤
After watching so many of your tutorials, something I like to do now is guess the colors by sight instead of using the palette. I have many of your palettes saved from other projects, so I'll take one of those and modify it. It's a fun challenge, and I feel like I learn a lot! This landscape is so gorgeous, thank you for sharing. ❤
This is my fourth painting following your tutorials! thank you so much for making them, they really help me a lot! Just curious, will you make tutorial about rainy day? that would be wonderful
Just got back from a vacation in the Great Smokey Mountains, North Carolina, USA and this piece perfectly represents the atmosphere and “feeling” of the mountains. (Looking forward to the new show with Joel. !
Oh my goodness I am in awe....only ever done acrylic and pastel paintings...thought i might try digital.....not sure now lol thanks for a great tutorial.
Hello James, I've been watching your videos for a long time now, and it's quite mesmerizing how you draw & teach at the same time within such a short period of time. Looks so effortless. For me, even to draw this exact art might take enormous amount of hours. Afterall, i'm just a beginner. :) Lots of Love from Nagaland (INDIA)
One thing ive noticed in tutorials is that i will have my brush set to the size in the video but my brush strokes come out way bigger. Im using the apple pencil and my ipad is up to date and so is procreate. My ipad is 3rd gen with 1t of storage if that helps
Most likely you have the canvas set to the wrong dimensions. In your case, it sounds like your canvas is smaller than the tutorials. There are also some prefs I’m procreate that might be off, such as stylus settings/pressure sensitivity curve or dynamic brush scaling. I hope this helps! Personally, I use very unique dimensions that I found work best for my printer, but that requires me to always use 1.5x the brush size from the tutorials.
Hi James! Thanks so much for this awesome tutorial - all your tutorials are amazing and I learn so much. Is there any way we can reach out and get feedback on our execution of the tutorial? I saw that the Director Level on Patreon allows for a monthly one-on-one, but wondering if there's an art group, or some other forum that allows for more passive engagement as well? All the best!
Hey brother does your hand touch your ipad while drawing or i mean does your hand rest on it while drawing. BTW very nice drawing love it ❤❤❤ it would be a great wallpaper for my windows ❤❤❤
Hi there, I'm just curious about your terms when it comes to selling artwork made by following your tutorials. Do you allow that like other artists? Even if elements are added? Thank you so much for your time!
Hey James! Do you have any advice for getting past feeling like the "stamp" brushes are "cheating?" I've had a very hard time convincing myself otherwise when I use them. It just feels like I am using someone else's art to make my own so I never end up using the texture brushes despite seeing how awesome your work is with them.
I think there is a difference between a stamp and a texture. For example if it’s a stamp of a tree with all the branch details and you just press it once and there’s your tree, then those I avoid. However if it’s just a texture that helps then it’s not much different than using a particular type of brush shape in the real world, so I don’t consider it cheating. If you lay it as a foundation and then work over the top as well then even less reason to think that way
@JamesJulier-Artist Thank you! I try thinking of it that way and it's a bit difficult with some of the Procreate brushes because they don't feel as "random" as a typical brush. So I almost never use the cloud or the rainforest ones because I worry about someone saying I'm just using a texture and not making my own art. 💙 Thank you for the change of perspective!
Is the color Palette correct? It seems to download other colours than the ones you’re using in your video. Btw: Thanks for the great videos, I’m learning a lot from them ❤
If I decide to adjust it later on it’s easier to do as a layer. I can for example make it a degree darker or lighter or more saturated within the adjustment section.
Hi there James, the woodland waterfall color swatches have the African sunset swatches in the description. Can you update to reflect the proper swatches? Thanks, your friend Nick Charles
Your drawing is beautiful but I struggled to keep up and even make my drawing look similar to yours… from the color to the way you’re highlighting is, it’s all so amazing but this drawing wasn’t as easy as others for me.
I believe I explain that this will be the case a couple of times through the video. My camera throws it off, but use the colours I do from the codes and it will be the same as mine in person

The camera really changes the colors a lot though sometimes, so that is quite unreliable. But cool if you enjoy it and manage to get good results.
Congratulations on working with Joel! I have been following him for some time now as well and glad to see the collaboration.
Me too!
Great work keep doing regularly 😊👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🤝🤝

great tutorial! is there a link where you sell your procreate brushes?
I don’t have any to sell, I use the free ones
Is the color Palette correct? It seems to download other colours than the ones you’re using in your video. Btw: Thanks for the great videos, I’m learning a lot from them ❤
If you check the top pinned comment here you’ll see the correct link 😊
@@JamesJulier-Artist oh thanks, I missed that comment. Thanks a lot!
James, why do you not use the background color layer? Just curious if there is a reason. Thank you
If I decide to adjust it later on it’s easier to do as a layer. I can for example make it a degree darker or lighter or more saturated within the adjustment section.
@@JamesJulier-Artist Thank you. Makes sense. I knew there was a reason. Thank you again for all you do. You are appreciated.
Hey James! Is it me or the color palette you showed in the video is different from the one attached to the description?
Yes my mistake, the correct link and codes are now in the description
what ipad version did you use ?
Can you suggest the best Android app to copy your paints?
Hi there James, the woodland waterfall color swatches have the African sunset swatches in the description. Can you update to reflect the proper swatches? Thanks, your friend Nick Charles
I’ve linked them in the comments section, pinned at the top
sir is it possible to take a online class from you???
Where do I find the extended full version of waterfall? I looked for it but could not find it??? Thanks!
I’m working on it, it’ll be uploaded today (Tuesday)
Where do I post of the paintings I have done so far? Where do I submit a suggestion?
Suggestions anywhere, here for example. I have an instagram so you can tag me and also a Facebook group that’s linked in this video description
👋 hi
I when I type in the color palette, I get different colors
Check the top pinned comment here
Another way you can get the colors is take a screenshot of the palette, paste it into procreate and pick the colors from there.
The problem is that my camera changes the look of the colours
Nope, way to unreliable due to camera colors. Why would you do that when you can import the actual colors in about three clicks by downloading them?
Your drawing is beautiful but I struggled to keep up and even make my drawing look similar to yours… from the color to the way you’re highlighting is, it’s all so amazing but this drawing wasn’t as easy as others for me.
Will you buy a new IPad Pro with new Apple Pencil and test it?
Draw Butterfly Nebula please 🥹
anyone confused why his color palette isn’t correlated?
@@stratix7885 nobody who looks at the pinned comment at the top of the comment section is no 😜
@@JamesJulier-Artist sorry lol love the videos
my colors look nothing like yours. They are all more muted shades and look gray instead of blue :(
I believe I explain that this will be the case a couple of times through the video. My camera throws it off, but use the colours I do from the codes and it will be the same as mine in person
So good I am starting now this, Love from India 💌
