For me, athletic shorts are for two things. The gym, and when I am at home relaxing. If I'm going out, different pants and shorts go on.
The Bermuda shorts with the jacket just looks goofy I don't care what anyone says
I hate wearing no shows because of the lack of protection against rubbing and getting blisters from shoes. I always end up getting a sore because of them.

I find you get dirt and other particles inside your sock and shoe much easier with no shows.
Yeap, I switched to high socks with Adidas low top shoes. I don't want my skin rubbing against the shoe and over time having that human sebum stain in the rim of my shoes from touching and rubbing against my ankle skin.
To me they look like you're not wearing socks , which I don't think looks good. Also if you have skinny legs it tends draw attention them.
No show socks suck. Ankle socks are better imo
5” for me I like showing off my quads😂, longer just makes look shorter
@@gc641 must be nice to buy the generic average person fit. If I buy a 5" inseam short, it makes me looks like I'm 7 foot tall. I'm all leg. I don't need more of it showing.
7” shorts are still pretty long. 6” would be ideal but if a guys legs are somewhat muscular than 5” is best.

Great in-depth video. As for me, I only wear shorts when I’m hiking. I use running shorts with a built-in spandex liner and the outer is quick-drying synthetics. Works great. I use crew length darn-tough socks with trail runners. Other than that I’m just not a fan of shorts in a casual or semi formal setting. But to each their own? Have a good one guys.

I live in New Orleans, where the climate allows shorts to be comfortably worn most of the year. Temperatures in the 60s Fahrenheit are typical for winter and mean you can finally wear those jackets that have been in storage all year, while the summer humidity means your sweat is not going to evaporate. I'm in my 40s and still live in shorts most of the year whenever I'm off work. As a teenager in the 90s, I was used to the longer knee length inseams, then when shorter inseams became popular (around the time the brand Chubbies came around), I switched and wondered why I had been letting my thighs be hot in the summer. I'm also only 5'6" and slim, so I realized I looked better in them.
Super awesome, man this is fully in depth and informational! I would wear my cargo shorts all year but I live up in Canada. I've beaten a dead horse about them on this channel a few times, thanks a cool video!
I believe the no show socks are only for loafers, the other kinds of dress shoes should be worn with mid calf socks or OTC socks.
I think 9" shorts look good on most average-build guys like myself (160# 5'11"). But if you have the quads, 7" shorts will look great!

I wear shorts NO LONGER than a 8 inch inseam, preferably a 6 inch inseam. I’ve been told I have the legs of a UPS worker, so why hide these beauties of mine in those dreadful 11 inch or longer inseam shorts? 😂

I only wear shorts outside when I'm cutting the grass. I stopped wearing shorts in public about 10 years ago (I bump into stuff and I scar horribly).

Big legs necessitate an 11 inch inseam. 7 is too short, 9 is just too short. Big legs = loose/relaxed fir shorts for comfort.

Im amazed how no one knows about the barefoot insoles made of sock material. You insert them into your shoe and you dont need to wear socks.
My kids hated wearing socks and they would get their feet and shoes all stinky. I bought them these insoles, which are washable, and all stinky problems were solved.

I don't know, it was too high, and the way it draped on my butt it was a huge no. I bought the next size with 2 inches above the knee and it looks good.
Anything else, you are looking like a street walker.
For the summer, linen clothes are your best friend. I my shorts are mostly deck shorts in a range of colors. I'm rocking my Nautica or Tommy Bahama deck shorts & my wide array of linen shirts this summer.

The low cut socks are not timeless and classic at all, in fact the opposite is true.
Tired of getting things tailored. If they don't fit right out of the box, I try not to Tailor unless it is my only option.

It makes me uncomfortable when dudes are around me with mid thigh shorts. you stop in at a restaurant and sit down and the shorts ride up even farther.

The only place shorts are proper is near the water or if you are working out or playing shorts but NO CARGO SHORTS. A stylish gentleman will never wear shorts in the city.

If the temperature is too high for linen trousers, it’s likely too high for anything. Cargo shorts? They’re a telltale sign of lacking sartorial knowledge or taste.
I like the idea of no socks! For me, it's no socks if I'm wearing sandals at home, and regular socks if I’m wearing anything other than flip-flops. The inseam is the inner part of the legs, not the outer.
Those silk short shorts you guys wear in the military? Definitely not cool! Leave them to the soldiers, please.
