to answer your question during Oh Boy. unless it's a Male vocal Red Velvet do all their own vocal tracks even the ones way in the back. they are kind of known for having an insane recording schedule.
Though to be honest I've thought before it was a male voice and what they actually did was pitch down either Irene or Wendy in the studio. so it's a toss up LOL
The red is solely to show their red side so more pop songs that make you groove, the velvet which is a mini album is more to show their velvet side, ice cream cake was a smash up of both!

The back vocals are more often than not Wendy. Even rap parts have her back vocals. She practically lived in the recording studio. It's funny how u keep mentioning slow songs bc their next mini is The Velvet. I guess you're finding out right about now.. 😊
Yes they all can rap. Irene and joy mostly do the rapping in their early career. Then its irene and yeri nowadays. Sometimes wendy rap and she ate. Imo if she wasn't the main vocal she can be the main rapper. While seulgi doesn't really get the rap part. But i like her tone when she raps its cute.

RV is one of those groups that I've found that people super into music production or music in general love them and think their music is genius, but other people could take them or leave them, lol.
Also, Wendy has said that ad libs are her favorite part of recording :)
I love this album it's one of my favorites. The Killing Voice is gonna be so great bc they have improved so much!
For Don't U Wait No More the background vocals are Wendy, Seulgi, and Joy. It will almost always be Wendy and Seulgi, as time goes on, Joy does more, and Irene and Yeri do as well.
I will have to check your master list, but if you don't have any recordings of them behind the scenes, you'll definitely want to see those bc it really showcases the way they layer vocals and do the harmonies and etc.
in the Red album, Day 1 is ballad, Cool World is slow comforting song 😆 Love RV's crazy instruments super bassy, gamey, some distorted, future-spacy but also oldies-goodies.
You are probably hearing Wendy, it's been told earlier RV album is built upon Wendy's flesh and blood. She used to do guide, doubling and everything. Voice color wise, Seulgi, Joy and Yeri are unique. I will say Wendy's voice color is rather common, she just has incredible crazy ability, power and skill.
They will have full "red" side albums and full "velvet" side albums. Sometimes they will do a mashup and have the quintessential "Red Velvet" albums. The mini after this is a Velvet album. And like others have said the girls do their own backing mostly. In the earlier years Wendy did most of the backings for the group. She even did track layouts like she would record the part first to guide the group in how to do the part.
And sadly you'll notice that Irene and Yeri didn't often get a lot of lines. But thankfully as the years go on it becomes more equal 🥰

I'm so happy u like Red Dress 😭😭 I've heard people say that it's a skip like WHAT (ofc people have their own music taste but come on hating on Red dress?) Anyway, I suppose u already kinda know that this album is just Red side songs cause the name is literally The Red. However, every album of theirs consists of a lot of genres and are a mix of Red side and Velvet side (Except The Velvet, which is opposite of The Red lol)
One of Joy's nicknames among fans is "tone fairy" which describes her unique tone perfectly I think, it's dreamy and warm whenever you listen to her singing

imo wendy is the best rapper in the group, but she doesn´t get as much rap lines as irene and yeri since she´s the main vocalist
While I won't say it was the song that made me a fan, "Huff N Puff" was the song that made me go "Wait a second... there is something really different about this group."
Even now, I still hear so many things that no other groups do.

Great reaction! This is just a no skip flex of a debut album. And yes, you might as well get used to them mixing things up, trying different things always with the vocals and harmonies that just...do...not...fail. 😊 whether a person is a fan of Red Velvet or not, no one can accuse them of sounding like everyone else or being predictable and boring. That's just facts. 😊
I originally saw Joy in the kdrama The Liar and His Lover, she sings in it…. I loved her voiced and thats how i found red velvet ….. amd then irene in My ID is Gangnam Beauty

All members rap. Seulgi on the lower end of the spectrum. A lot of fans like Wendy rapping the best but she's the main vocal so she doesn't get to do it often. I'm an Irene bias so I'm basically excited when she does anything haha. As of late Irene has been singing more often and Wendy and Joy are rapping more. It's a nice change of pace, Irene has improved in vocals a lot too but I also think her rap has as well. Very impressed with her raps in One kiss, Wildside , better be in the most recent years.
It's amusing to me how you kept being surprised by all the red side songs on an album titled "The Red"
3:16 I hate to break it to you, but Irene doesn't rap like this anymore, not in their most recent tracks anyway. It's more high pitched. I don't know why they changed it because I LOVE Irene's rap tone in their earlier tracks.
