yeah lot's of new jack swing influence in this album. with Red velvets ability to actively choose between resonant Harmonies and ones that are blended makes them perfect for this genre. New jack swing is sort of a blending of older Jazz/Swing and R&B without spoiling anything they will revisit this genre a few times as the girls them selves really like performing it.
This mini album has some of my favorite b-sides by RV: Lucky Girl & Bad Dracula, kinda underrated imo in the fandom

There's definitely a lot of swing and jazz influenced songs in RV's discography. I love the shooby doowops in Lucky Girl, it makes me happy, like I can imagine them in poodle skirts!
*checks off bingo card for Irene and Joy's voices* Yes, yes. Looking okay so far. :D If you haven't had your "ha!" moment for Joy by the time we roll around to Feel My Rhythm or Wildside, you'll get there for those two. =) For Irene rap, I think you will get smacked in the face with her Red Flavor rap, it's iconic. This album is a GREAT one! Also yeah, the backing ad libs are almost always Wendy or Seulgi in the beginning. Joy really starts adding more as time goes on, too. Yeri and Irene do some too, but not as much as the others.
There are a lot of really great behind the scenes of them recording for their albums where you can see their vocal layering and ad libs and stuff, it's really cool to see their process, and I would recommend checking some of those out, maybe along with the variety content or something?

Yeah!! We are now in the red tropical vibe era. They have lots of reggae, tropical, summer vibe songs in this and the next albums...at that time They got the Summer Queens title.
Fool is such a underrated song istg it desserves so much more

For me, this album is really when I see them polishing their sound and layering even more. Sunny Afternoon is the standout bside for me. But Some Love, Fool and My Dear are also good.

@roguereacts Just don't be expecting any "sick rap breaks" from Red Velvet.
They've never been high on RV's priority list.
For me Irene's best flow that I lost it on firstly was too short like way too short and is also in their Japanese discography. Not that she doesn't have good raps outside of that I just felt she went hard there. She'll surprise you soon enough though.
