I was a Boiler and at that game. Some fellow students and I came over the night before and met some friendly Buckeye students at a bar who lived in a big house and told we could sleep over there if we promised to stay Saturday night for a party. Hell yes! We expected to be celebrating a Boiler win, but not so! OSU really controlled us, I don't think Keyes wanted to line up against Tatum in the second half, we couldn't get anything going, shut out 13-0!! Long Saturday night and drive home Sunday. But the guys we met at OSU were great hosts!

I was at this game. I kept my eyes on Tatum and that alone told me to never get hit by him. He was so great. RIP Jack. You are very missed.

Lack of offense caught up with Ohio State against Michigan in 69 and Stanford in 71 Rose Bowl

I was a little too young to have felt the impact of this game so I appreciate the context. I was unaware that Woody almost had one foot out the door before '68. So this victory started the "modern era" of Ohio State football.

I was there. The greatest OSU regular season victory in history! Later that season, the Xichigan game victory was a pretty darn Great as well.

Jack Tatum would end up excelling when he played for the raiders!

A ton of talent...who only won it once. Lack of originality always caught up with Hayes in big games. BTW, Keyes was not the preseason favorite for the Heisman; that would be the killer O.J. Simpson.

The game should (would) have been played in West Lafayette except Purdue sold the home advantage to OSU for a bigger split of the revenue. (Purdue played @ OSU in '67, 68, and 69.) And the rich got richer. Also a watershed game for the Purdue's football program, as it was probably the last team Purdue ever had with a serious chance of winning the National Championship.
