the first droid battle pack in over a decade and its a GWP
Roger Roger
Whyyyyyyyyyyy
Lego trying to not fumble a GWP challenge (Impossible)
We got one in January bro
Roger roger
I would love this set if it weren’t a GWP. I legit would have paid the $30 for this set as it’s an incredible droid army builder.
True, although on bricklink you can just buy like 100 battle droids for like $20 or something
@@lordhayzePG3DJust gotta find someone who sells em with their blasters
@@lordhayzePG3Dsure but from my experience they’re usually very floppy and old.
Agreed. My droid army has less numbers than my clone army. Hopefully they'll at least give an equivalent quantity of droids in an upcoming set.
@@lordhayzePG3Dfalse! I wish they were that cheap. Also to include the blaster. It’s about $4-5 each.
I love this so much - such a fun and nostalgic set, I really wish it was a regular release not a GWP locked behind $160 paywall.
Imagine an MTT with this as the gwp
At this point it feels like Lego is just spitting in our faces with this one being a gift with purchase set. It's literally one of the sets we've been asking for for years
Its so depressing that a droid battle pack we waited since 2008 is a gwp. Lego official stores are also only in 14 countries out of 195.
And? You can still use the website 😂
lego website bruh
@@owenedward144 Are you being serious? Its asking me to put in the US zip code. It wont deliver to my country.
@@WrathAmon1 Lego isn’t a US based company, their headquarters are in Denmark bud 😂 I guarantee they ship outside of the US, maybe you’re using the wrong website.
@@WrathAmon1 Lego is based in Denmark, not the US. They ship internationally bud.
Honestly i wouldn't be surprised if this was originally a normal set and they changed it to a GWP at the last moment
They're literally allergic to money
Man I wish this wasn't GWP!
Fr, but it would probobly coś around 30$
Exactly it's so stupid doing a gift with purchase
The GWP should have been Shmi's dining room with her as a minifigure from Episode 1, something to echo Aunt Beru's kitchen and giving us a minifig we probably wouldn't get otherwise
That would be hella smart!
And then we could also get a Wired C3PO aswell
They made the barc speeder that no one wants or asked for $30 and they made the highly desired droid battlepack virtually unobtainable. Good job lego 👍
thats lego^^
Its a business
Put it on shelves! Put it on shelves!✊
They may.
im so disappointed that this is gwp, this is something I and many other people would buy dozens of. this was an opportunity for Lego to essentially just print money with a set, and instead they have done this..
Sometimes I think they want money in the most difficult way by targeting people to spend large sums of money rather than multiple smaller sets
No need to worry about Lego making money. They're making plenty. Just say you're upset you didn't get want you wouldn't wanted and love on.
@@Mrlaneck I haven’t spent money on Lego in over 15 years. I just mildly keep up to see when I should get back in. Unfortunately, not any time soon ;3
@@andrewp3358 How about you spend $160 get the set then resale the other sets someone will take it off your hands.
@@calebwindham3698 no thanks lol. I’m not in a place to get back into lego. Maybe one day. I was a fan of the older clone war troops. Current ones dosent make me wanna buy those sets
Thank you for being the best and most well-spoken in the Star Wars Community
This set isn’t consistent with past Star Wars GWPs, but it is totally consistent with other remake GWPs like the Blacktron set, the Forestmen set or Majisto’s workshop.
Exactly. This is on par with a lot of recent GWP.
A GWP being so good that we wish it were a standalone set is a good thing.
Why couldn't this be a purchasable set and not a GWP😞
Cause lego is corrupt now
Cuz that's all Lego wants is money
@@DREDD_BOTyet they would have still made money making this a purchasable set, probably more depending
@@LingeringWont
Yeah, I think they’d like sell a lot of these.
It’s so interesting how old the B1 is. This pilot is especially sporting that 1998 copyright proudly. Here hoping for a b1 exclusive figure one day for an anniversary figure maybe one of R2 droid or a training Kamino one.
This would’ve been a great set for Lego to put out as a standalone “Battle Droid Battlepack,” especially after we’ve had a few Clone Battlepacks lately since 2020. Too bad it’s a $160 GwP.
Yeah because that's all that shity LEGO group wants is money I'm sick and tired of these gift with purchase things
It's only cause people keep buying the damn sets that lego won't stop. Why stop making money of people who are willing to be scammed?
The reviewer race is on!😂
The GWPs are the one thing LAN members can reliably review earlier than MandR. 😂
@peterpolus5272 yeah please explain this to me because people get hyped because some YT's do a review on one set and say oh he's doing so good, and then you get other YT's who do a completely different set before the first one and no one blinks an eye. So I do not see it as a race simply YT's doing what they want and when they want because their viewers can always come back and watch them even if they saw another channel. So I don't get it.
@@calebwindham3698 It's about MandrR somehow managing to upload reviews earlier than the Lego Ambassador Network members despite having to buy the sets with his own money before release😂He seems to always be trying to be first even though he doesn't have Lego's support, so when he succeeds the viewers are happy.
@@peterpolus5272 I guess just seems pointless because he’s running a race with no one else in it lol. I get it and I get for view’s but feel like the majority likes other’s content more than his get back at lego schemes lol. Either way doesn’t matter.
@@calebwindham3698yes he seems to be the only one but to me it's fun anyway. I don't know about the majority though, his channel is currently growing faster than Sold Brix. I watch them both and I like them both
Wow so nice of them to produce a 10+ set behind a $160 paywall. I’m sure there are tons of kids with $160 just laying around. Sad day for lego
And when we complain people will still use the argument that Lego is for kids 🤦
Congrats on getting the review out so early, but this seems like an odd choice for a GWP to me, I would have thought a small vignette would have been more fitting considering how they've been leaning into producing those sorts of sets more recently
Why the hell is this a GWP and not a real set.
Lego’s predatory pricing/marketing is so obnoxious, you know a lot of people want this set, so just release it for $20-25 dollars instead making people pay $160 in a limited time FOMA run, I don’t even think they make as much money with the current model, so their wallets aren’t happier and fans aren’t happy so why are they even doing this. There are different departments at Lego that are amazing, like a lot of the design teams are amazing, and even some of the marketing team, but there’s a few and idk which but there’s a few departments that are just utterly braindead and out of touch to the point where it feels like their self sabotaging
tbh its not even worth 25 dollars. maybe 20. Droids and a few pieces, basically no prints (the 25 year brick is... well its there xD)
So much to be excited about in May for LEGO!! Thanks for an awesome video 😊
This shouldn’t be a GWP. It’s super massable and a lot of people want droid packs
Wish it wasn’t a GWP and an actual set instead. If they added 6 super battle droids to go alongside the 6 battle droids and 2 pilot droids, that would be the mega battle droid battle pack. People would buy hundreds of these.
If the gwp was intended for kids how the heck do they think kids can afford it? 😂
We cant. My parents would never give me 160 bucks to spend for no reason in may.
@@lucaspodolski9643 responsible parents then. My parents wouldnt have done that as well. I wouldnt pay 160 bucks to get it either despite having the money for it as an adult (I am 27)
Buy it when people sell theirs, tons of them out there
3:35 I actually have never noticed the 1998 Lego Group copyright date on battle droids!
Haven’t missed a single Star Wars Lego year since 1999. The 2001 troop carrier is one of my favorite sets of the era and I can’t wait to get my GWP in the mail
Love a battlepack looks great set
That's look so nostalgic! First time when I saw this set I thought it's OG set from 2001. Only minus is this a GWP not a normal buyable set
Keep up the good work!
The reason this set makes since as a gift with purchase to me is Lego knows there will be people mass buying the clone trooper battlepacks and included it as a throw in
this set is awesome, but i aint spending 160$ for a battlepack. Ngl its a very bad decision from lego to make it exclusive, more ppl would buy it if it wasnt exclusive. So if anyone is reading this, lets prostest against lego so they put this on their shelfs
For fucking real man
That one B1 who pointed his gun at his face...🤣
I can see why from a business standpoint for choosing this to be a GWP, (people who will want it will pay a large amount for it).
However, from a Business standpoint, making it a product to buy is also a sound plan due to the sheer volume that collectors will each buy....
surely an MTT LEGO surely...
The fact this is a GWP is completely idiotic. They could have made this a regular set and made so much more money. They’ve dropped so many Clone battle packs that surely people would want Droid ones to match.
My heart stopped when I saw the thumbnail, but then found out it was GWP 😭
Quick thing, this is not a lego designed ship. It is actually canon and can be seen briefly in tpm in the background of the scene just where qui gon is about to run into jar jar
I'm more excied for this set than the ucs Tie striker
Its new for Star Wars, but Lego has been releasing a lot of GWP that are remakes of older sets.
I don’t think is weird at all. I welcome this over some of the alternatives.
Even better! Release it later as a standalone set. For the people who wanna get an expensive set, they can get this early by getting it on may 4 but then say in July or August, release the set for $30 as it should be, both sides are happy
Battledroids for my little captain Rex 😊
I'm glad I still have my original trade federation troop carrier set. That pilot minifigure is quite unique. Now they just do blue body with print. Not sure how accurate the old one is to anything but other than that the new one is def better. This hits the nostalgia for my first ever set.
I still have my old Droid Fighter. I really wish I still had the original troop carrier too because I loved that thing!
BRO THE ORIGINAL WAS EVEN PRINTED OMGGG
Thanks for the early closer view of the Trade Federation Troop Carrier.
Also looking outside Star Wars, this retro styled droid carrier is in line with a lot of the other retro remake GWPs like the Forestman Hideout, Blacktron Spaceship and Majisto Workshop.
David the function where the panels come down should be when the holder is attached to the droid carrier. The panels fold down on the droid carrier itself and not off it. It’s supposed to mimic where the panels fold down and the folded up droids stand up and are dropped into battle
I remember having one of these when I was a kid
People that had the original Battle Droid Carrier 25 years ago probably now have kids of their own... feel like this is Lego's way of targeting adults' nostalgia with the GWP being for their kids to recreate memories
This is going to play so well with the AT-TE
It almost feels like this is foreshadowing for a new mtt. I can dream
my plan was originally to buy my first coruscant LAAT on may 4th, but it looks like ill also have to just buy another clones vs. droid battle pack, which is neat because the battle pack fits in both with the GWP on the droid side of things, and it fits in by adding a third shock trooper to the LAAT.
It does make sense to do a phantoms menace set. Its the 25th anniversary for that film specifically
1999+24=2023?
@@lucaspodolski9643 25th anniversary. My bad
I think it’s brilliant. Can’t wait to pick it up. Been waiting for May 4 promos for a while.
Are you fucking kidding me?
@@Slixx1 I’d never joke about Lego!
@@matthewpotter8491 then you’re insane lol
@@Slixx1 oh do tell me more….
Accurate or not, still hits the nostalgia points for me & also gives us a somewhat NEW CIS set! Though, being gate-kept by a $160 USD/$210 CAD price tag is pretty crap.
The pilot droids are BARELY different from what we've had before. The only difference is the printed circle. Certainly doesn't feel exclusive. Still a good set and wish it wasn't a gwp
the print is also again not even that good. you can see the blue bleeding through and messing up the tan. typcially lego stuff
if this was a $30 battle pack, I'd easily buy a solid 20+
it is... check my comment
correction, it will be...
This set looks like what should be a companion set for the cloned vs droids super battle pack.
I'm gonna get two of those! Love it.
How’d you do? Get two?
@@moonshoes11 I did two separate Lego order.
@@0kk4p
Good job.
I did three orders, only received one. They removed the items off of the subsequent order.
Which is fine. They said one per household.
Would have been nice to get an extra, but I’m happy.
Good job on getting two. 👍✌️
@@moonshoes11 Yeah they probably check it. I did one se on the 3rd.
I love how every set has an exclusive minifigure duh, because all sets need their individual figure based around it. Before the community used "exclusive" we called it a new minifigure because it's a new design YT's don't understand the word exclusive, and how to use it properly. Revan is exclusive, Malak is exclusive, Imperial Yuralin is exclusive, Fives, and so on why???? Because there was never a second design. So please quit playing on stupid wording and talk correctly. Good review.
Imagine if they just gave out Kellerin Beck by himself as the GWP(and not in a set at all)and this droid carrier as a buyable set. Would have been perfect
8:38 yeah but also keeping making new clone legions LEGO
Wish this was not behind a paywall
Bro every Lego set is behind a paywall they all cost money
@@Frilledrick 😂I wish it was not a gift with purchase
I’m definitely happy that Lego is leaning more into Droids since it felt like they kinda forgot them but the fact it’s a GWP is so stupid
All I want is a new MTT 😭 this battle pack gives me hope
I feel like this set is more a lovechild of that original one, and the 2015 75086
I wish it included one or two new gunga warriors
I think LEGO should make this available as a regular retail set after the GWP period ends. In fact, they should do that with all GWPs.
Yeah??? Not sure why GWP?
For $20-$30 I feel like Lego would sell plenty.
it will be... check my comment.
Why couldn’t they just do a new MTT this year 😢
Great review and probably the best lego gift with purchase ever? I just wish it was a year round product. It’s after value is going to be ridiculous
Will your next project be Naboo? I think a naboo project would be possible as necessary coloured parts exist in large salable numbers since the ninjago movie and the figures would not be to much of a challenge to get. Keep up your work.
Personally I am planning on probably getting the GWP this year but I was hoping for a display piece more like last year. I missed out on last years death star and I would be more than happy to swap this droid carrier with that!
This is a set I’ve been wanting for years, but when Lego finally releases a new one of course it’s a £160+ GWP! Looks like I’m gonna have to break the bank and buy something big to get it. I would love it if Lego re-released it as a stand-alone set though, and there’s no doubt that it would sell well since it’s a great army builder.
Or you could just, you know, not financially support a decision you disagree with. People why spend the money anyway are exactly why Lego keeps doing this.
happy i was planing to geth the venetor 160 wuld be hard
I would like 2 droid carriers (regular sets) to display in a battle scene. I like the gwp, but it's probably too small to be the right scale. And yes I want the actual build of a set for display and not just the minifigures off Bricklink.
Im sure people will be selling these on eBay at a mark up. If you don't want to spend the $160 to get the GWP is see resellers selling these in the $60 range.
Even though this is paywalled, I am getting this. I never got the 2001 version, always had it on my lists growing up. Hopefully we get an updated MTT or the Trade Federation Tank as a battle pack with Gungans? I can take it or leave it if it became a battle pack.
When the battle droid torso still has the 1998 copyright
This is exactly why I don’t buy all the sets I want on release day. They almost always end up being sold cheaper later on and then times like this come around when I need to reach a pay wall. Hopefully I can get a couple of these sets!
will you make may the 4th guide this year (possibly this week)?
I made 4 different orders and got 4 troop carriers for army building. Yes. I'm a madman.
I think lego should remake those droid battle packs. I really want to build on to my droid army.
We will be reselling the battlepack for massive profits
Finally a way to make a new battle droid army!
Did you miss the Gift with purchase part? You need to spend $160 to get 1 of these fucking sets, it’s ridiculous
I'd love a CIS colors version
They should sell this later as an actual fucking purchasable set
If they’re going to make it a GWP then they should have put it out with AT-TE
I wonder if you could get a couple of non-afol friends to each buy enough to get the gwp and then return the set(s) that they bought. Get their money back minus whatever they value the gwp. 🤷🏼♂️.
Praying for a blue MTT soon.
I usually wait for Star Wars sets to go on sale but I’ll gladly pay full price on sets to get that I wanted the original one so bad when I was little
That vehicle also appeared in revenge of the sith
At least we got one
I’m reconsidering participating in May the Fourth for this. $160 paywall for some B1s?
With making this a GWP, Lego has shown they despise us.
I'm surprised the 2015 version wasn't mentioned, unless I missed that part (75086)
This was only available through the 1st through the 4th. Not the 5th. I checked and they didn’t have it available on the 5th day.
Well atleast for me it didn’t show anymore on the 5th.
Finally a droid battle pack irritating it won’t be in stores
I really like the set but really rubs me the wrong way they didn't release this as a mainline set.
They should release it later in the year without the 25th anniversary box art and brick IMO cos plenty people would buy more than one of these
Wonder if the gift stacks or is it just one set per purchase?
Even though I prefer the CAC droids, i want to get this
Do you know if you can surpass the 160$ mark but narrow it down with VIP points and still get the set?
