which one is emerald green ? the rare green/blue/aqua this is your talking about ? i never have seen this color or the red one in the reality but i need to see them.
I got the red Kamasu for 230 euros, 4 months ago. The best value for money diver! That sapphire is durable as hell, too! Trust me, it's been tested unintentionally against sharp marble corners and has zero scratches!
Good to know, just ordered one in red too a few days ago on amazon + a nato strap. How is your watch holding time, is it ok ???? Looking forward to joining the club
This was my Christmas present to my son in law. As a healthcare professional- he needed a water resistant watch that could stand continuous hand washing without removal. He has loved it. And he is smaller framed- and it’s not too big. So- I think great watch for the money. And great looking too. I highly recommend it to all “starters”.
I’ve never liked diver watches, mostly because of their way too thick bezel and the ugly circular hour-marks. This orient diver is actually one of the prettiest dive watches I’ve ever seen, so that’s for sure gonna go on my wishlist. And yes, I’ve seen rolexes, omega seamasters and tudors. This one looks better in my eyes. Maybe not the finishing and quality, but the design is better
The only way it makes sense to own an SKX is if you are a giant seiko guy or if you want to rip it apart and mod the hell out of it. Stock they make no sense.
M F I have nothing but respect for the watch. It’s just how common of a watch that it’s become. The style is simple but doesn’t really look that expensive to me, I know that sounds stupid. But if I’m going to pay 300+ for a watch I want it looking great aesthetically. That said there’s plenty of 21 year olds who love it.
I love my Kamasu. It does everything I need, keeps good time, got day date, waterproof for every situation I'm likely to meet, and a great price. I can't praise this watch enough, superb bang for your buck.
*I’m so excited!* Just bought this in blue for my first watch in 20 years! I needed a decent timepiece for work that has decent lume that is readable for at least 3/hrs past sunset. It was either this or a Invicta/Pagani… I don’t know much about watches so I hope I made the right choice. Lume is the most important thing I needed in the end.
Got the red one & loving it. Hard to find something in that colour that's wearable and/or affordable. Also keeps surprisingly good time, which is a bonus (+3 seconds a day).
Great video, Teddy. 100% agree with the assessment of Orient. I’ve had a Mako2 for a number of years and continue as my weekend and travel watch. Upgrading to the Kamasu, if only for the sapphire crystal is money well spent. Some viewers may see the bezel and the dial on the blue model reflect color differently and opt for the black, which is not a bad choice, but Orient executes their blue dials nicely.
Thanks Teddy for the continous straight-forward awesome content! You stepped up your videography A LOT during the last months. Your shots are simply amazing! You're also the only watch channel where I don't skip the intro as you actually wear the watch you present afterwards - really appreciate the effort here! Orient is a great brand. I owned both the Blue Ray I & II and just loved them. I agree that THIS is probably the best diver you can get around 200 bucks. I just stepped up to a Triton a few weeks ago and just love it as well! I do agree with your critics according the crown guards. But I think they can get away with it as they actually really guard the crown and weren't put there just for design purposes. All the best from Germany!
Wow, I was just looking at this watch on Amazon and I decided I'd wait till later and I open my TH-cam and I see this! It must be a sign from the watch gods!
Got a black Kamasu a few weeks ago. It looks way more expensive than it is and feels great. It's one of my favorite watches in my small collection. I did replace the bracelet with a NATO strap -- the bracelet felt incredibly cheap and did not feel great.
I got this watch in Japan Domestic Special Edition (blue dial and insert with Golden bezel and Hands) when I was in Japan early last year. Absolutely love it. It looks and wears much better than my Seiko Sea Urchin and SKX007
Yeah, really disappointing. I imagine Teddy has a world wide following, mainly USA perhaps but a large number of followers who now feel less included in his community
I bought it from amazon about 3 weeks before this video was submitted and I have to agree with all you have listed as pros and cons. I've had a Seiko SNZH at that time in my collection too, which I used for a few months. I sold the Seiko to my cousin but exchanged the bracelets before I did that so he got a watch with a new bracelet and I ended up with the one from SNZH which, in my opinion, is a nicer looking bracelet. It's not all brushed but has got polished bits on each link too. I think it just suits the watch better than the original one. I kept the original clasp, of course, so there's no ORIENT-watch - SEIKO-clasp nonsense going on.
I've got the black-gray Kamasu II two weeks ago and absolutely love it. It's an excellent watch with robustness and originality, specially if you get it under $200. It fits perfectly in small wrists (mine's about 6,25"), so size isn't a concern. Definitely aiming now for the blue Kamasu of the first generation showed in the video.
It definitely is a lot of watch for the money. I've been wearing a red dial Kamasu for three years now. My only complaint is that because the bezel insert sits slightly higher than the crystal and it's made of aluminium, it picks up a lot of scratches. In fact I've decided to replace the bezel to be able to insert a ceramic one. That being said, I still absolutely love this watch, I feared the red dial would be a bit shouty but it is not, it actually is kind of subdued, more maroon or even blackish in most lighting conditions. It's really beautiful. I don't like metal bands so I got several Nato's, a Hirsch vulcanised natural Rubber, and a black leather strap for it. It looks good on all of them. A watch you can dress for many occasions.
I did not notice any blemishes at all or bad finishing on the indices on my Ray II, and not a single speck of dust under the glass either, but i am anxious to see when my Mako III/Kamasu arrives if it has the same blemishes/finishing issues as the one on this video. Anyway im glad you did not try to hide or forget to mention it, because especially the 9 oclock indice has a noticeable point which catches the light and seems visible to the naked eye outside of the macro shots. Great video and review Teddy.
Orient Kamasu in maroon was my first automatic watch that I bought (had manual winding Helvetia and Darwil, but those are vintage). I just love how the red turns into black during night time. Never believed that a red dial watch could be so versitile and easy to match with different style clothing. When new, it ran around +15 secs a day, after frequent wearing, it's around +5 which is awsome. And that sapphire is a lifesaver. Only thing that scratches easly is the braclet and the polished sides of the case. But I don't care, for 200 euros was a steal.
Teddy, I just ordered my Kamasu Red dial for just $230 (all included) and will get it in 3 days. Can't wait to see it in real and wear it with a huge smile on my goofy face. I also have Bambino Gen2, cream dial/blue hands that I love and Orient Perpetual Calendar, white dial. I enjoy your channel even that your price range is way higher than my budget.. hehee Thanks
I've got the green and love it. Dials look darker in person so keep that in mind. The aluminium bezel sits slightly proud so can get damaged easily and my bracelet is very squeaky. Overall it still is a great watch and highly recommend
My first mechanical piece was an orient Mako with two crowns, one being a pusher for the date. Thanks to that little guy, I’ve now spent a few thousand dollars on watches in the last couple of years. No regrets though
Just purchased this watch and it arrives Saturday. Great value at this pricing point. Which is why i pulled the trigger on adding it too my collection. Generally collect Seikos mostly. I feel this wil be a great pickup to compliment my collection including the likes of grand Seikos presage, alpinist, longines hydroconquest etc, always great reviews here and thanks for the more precise breakdown. Cant wait to open it Saturday 👍
Got the Red Kamasu Diver watch $221.45 delivered! Got it for Xmas this year. Can't complain about that price, will probably opt for a leather made strap that look to be nicer in fit and comfort. I got the idea from your other Orient diver watch video review. thanks for the Info on this great Brand with inn]house engine.
Orient is a solid brand and their new in-house Made in Japan automatic movement is a hit! I've had Orient watches going back more than 30 years and they've been great This watch is a winner and at this price point is a real steal! I just ordered one and I cannot wait to wear it on my wrist! I have a question though -- Is the Kamasu the same watch as the Mako III? Appears to be the same watch down to the every spec!
Great review and won't argue with the praise for the Orient Kamasu. I was looking extensively for a daily diver to spare my higher end swiss divers and just couldn't pay the asking price for any of Seiko's sub $600 offerings. They all felt like they should be half the price, no saphire crystals, basic movements, dull dials no milled clasps. Frankly I think for a massive company with their resources they should just sapphire crystal an ceramic bezel current turtles and samuri's and keep the msrp where it is.. I almost ordered a green dial Kamasu and just decided to take a chance on the Triton. It worked out to be under $100 more and had the upgraded pvement and anti reflective coating and japanease diver certification. I am beyond taken by the watch, the design, the bezel movement, lume, finish everything but the clasp and divers extension are unbeleiveble for the price. Many dump on the bracelet yes its not perfect but its quiet, impecable finished and assembled for the price. Would I pay $50 more for a milled clasp? Yes I would and Orient should update this considering its their top diver in the sub orient star line.
I just bought this Watch off of ebay, red dial and a black bezel. My first Orient Watch, should be here in a couple of days. Thank you, for the review Teddy!
I got it in green/teal. Great watch! Mine runs at plus 3 seconds a day started off at plus 6 seconds but after a couple of months its now plus 3 seconds. Thats good accuracy given luxury Swiss watches are +- 2 secs a day.
Love my blue Orient Ray 2 - I've swum in it, kayaked and camped in it and generally done everything in it for almost two years and it still looks like new. I do like the Kamasu a lot and have thought about trading, but the dial just doesn't do it for me in the way the blue sun burst on the Ray does. I'd like the sapphire crystal, that said I haven't damaged the mineral in the Ray yet and if I do I'll just pop and after market sapphire in. I have to say, I think the Ray's metal bracelet was also superior to the Kamasu's. All that said, I think It really is tough to fault any Orient's divers at this price range, especially for an 'everyday, everything, anywhere' watch.
Beautiful watch. I've got a ray 2 and love it. I think this model is a little too similar to my Ray to justify a purchase, but it's a really great watch! Also, your macro shots are fantastic!
After scratching the crystal on my Ray2, ( fencing wire and mineral crystal don't do well together) I had it replaced with a sapphire crystal. Really worth the upgrade and it is now by far my favourite. The sunburst on that blue dial is quite mesmerizing.
I loved my black dial kamasu. it runs +6 seconds a day, got sapphire crystal, amazing water resistance... however the only sad thing about it is the aluminum bezel insert which is easily scratched. I wish there is a ceramic bezel insert for this
Got mine today from Amazon very pleased with it , very comfortable to were and looks amazing . Watching your channel with a few months love your reviews all the way from Ireland .
Thinking of getting my younger brother an entry level watch for Christmas, this is definitely a top option. Probably would be on of this one, the Scurfa, a Moonswatch, or maybe a PRX
Teddy I too purchased an Orient as my first mechanical watch! A month later I proceeded to buy myself another Orient off of your website. I absolutely love Orient watches.
Best value diver out there. I bought one in April 2020 and it hasn’t been off my wrist since. Cheap, accurate, great bezel and sapphire. Looks cool with anything and for me this is far better than any SKX. Buy one and enjoy it.
I too bought one, got mine in March. However I refer to mine as an inexpensive watch. Calling it "cheap" is unfair to Orient and the purchaser. You (we) made a great choice in Orient. Raise the bar for yourself and your choice of Orient, feel free to call it "inexpensive"
Michael Hargis yes I agree with you, cheap is the wrong word. I’m very happy with my Orient. I’d absolutely recommend it to anyone . Thanks for addressing that . Inexpensive it may be but I’m proud to wear mine and very impressed with the overall quality no matter the price tag.
Well done sir! Love my Kamasus, they are definitely on the dressier side of dive watches rather than the tool watch side which allows me to wear them places I wouldn't wear an SKX or Helm. Keep up the great work!
Great review as always, it was as if it were directed to me, my parents will gift me a watch as my first, and after this video I have just decided what it will be
Got the black Orient Ray II as my beater and now getting the Kamasu in the Green/Teal Dial. Excited to add to my small but growing collection. Absolutely love the macro shots!
I was thinking Black, but my eyes are drawn to the Green and green works with my skin tone. Do you think green is any less versatile of formal compared to black or navy?
Hey Teddy, love your videos! I think it would be really great if you made videos on "watch companies and the watches that built their success" or like a video on the history of important watch brands. I'm also trying to find a nice watch from the year that I was born (1998) and I imagine a lot of people would enjoy a video where you discuss a nice watch that was released each year! Thanks for all your great videos, they've really influenced me and my interest in horology!
Teddy, I love your channel and that watch is incredible. Your video intros are getting near Hollywood Movie quality. They are as entertaining to watch as are the videos themselves. Class from top to bottom. Be well and best wishes.
Great review. I have just begun my watch journey, and to date do not own any Orient watches. I hope to begin with this one. Currently with what is going on, some people may disagree, but even something as simple or even trivial as buying a watch may lend to a sense of normalcy in the midst of all this craziness. We will get through this. Thanks for staying the course. Thanks for postin! Stay safe sir!
I was little sceptical while I was ordering my Scarlet Kamasu as I have 7.5 inch wrist and thought that how bad would it be. I own Seikos which are 37 and 38 mm and thought 41.8mm would be bigger for my wrist. However, I went ahead and I do not regret it at all. I love the watch to its core. It's a stunner in Scarlet and it plays beautifully in different lighting conditions.
I bought this model about 6 months ago and it's my favorite watch I've ever owned. I love the "barracuda tooth" at the 12 marker and like that they didn't put the cartoonish (imo) circular hour markers. Really great watch.
I'm quite positive the lume on the Kamasu is brighter and longer lasting than any of the Seiko ISO 6425 rated divers that have an msrp under $800. Just check out Relative Time's lume comparison video.
Love this watch. I sold all my micro brands diver watches but going to get this one. Decided only buying in house movement brands cheap or expensive. Thank you for video.
Great one Teddy. Best from UK. I have Mako 2 USA and is very comfortable on the wrist. Also look upmarket and great when suited or just wearing t-shirt. Keep up good work. Best from UK.
Another excellent review, Teddy. I have this watch, I love this watch. Fits great, wears great, looks great, and at this price not afraid for it to take a beating.
I have the red version, and it never fails to draw me in. You’re correct about the bracelet; I replaced it with a black leather strap and it looks and wears fantastic. It also wears great in summer on a Nato.
In the past few weeks, I ordered a Luminox Colormark chronograph, returned because it was extremely bulky and lume was weak. Ordered a Seiko SRPD95, nice, but weak lume and more fashion-oriented that I was looking for. Now received my Orient Kamasu in stainless and black, and it is hands-down the nicest, cleanest, highest quality watch I've seen for under $500. Cant say enough good things about it.
Definitely love my Kamasu - paid a bit extra to get the green dial (though I really do love the blue!), and have absolutely no regrets. Thanks for the review!
I have the Orient Kamasu with the maroon dial/black bezel. I really like it. My two issues are the tiny crown and my watch came with a bracelet that was scuffed in three places. Strapcode is now offering bracelets for this watch.
I got a black one, it said Mako III on the tag from the manufacturer. It is the first true mechanical I've owned, and what a gem! It is accurate to 3 sec in 5 days!
Bought one in Blue just like in the video. Wanted red but was out of stock. Absolutely beautiful piece of watch. Doesen't quite match up to my granddads old Omega but clearly beats any cheapi-ish quartz watch i've owned.
I fully agree that this is a nice watch and looks fine for the price. I just got one. Now for those of you who are thinking of getting one, remember this, this has a screw down crown. While it is a good thing, the crown is small and fiddly and if you dont wear this often, u may need a watch winder. Otherwise, screwing and unscrewing the crown don't give me the confidence that it will last with repeated mechanical intervention. Of course I fear my screwing and unscrewing will mess up the seals and make it unsuitable as a diver watch which defeats its purpose! So again, wear this often otherwise buy it just for home display. You dont want to be messing with the tiny screw down crown too often.
I pulled the trigger on one and a bambino while in Tokyo last week. With the yen at 144 to 1 U.S. dollar it cost me $310 for the pair. I got the red kamasu with Japanese and English. I find it heavy but I like it. Going to change the bracelet to a rubber strap this weekend.
I want to buy one of the orient mako 2 or kamasu and I found this specific watch with the blue dial magnificent, but I think that a blue dial limits your outfit choices, while a kamasu or mako with a black dial seems more neutral and suits with more outfits. Teddy what do you think is better according to outfits and style in general, black or blue dial?
Teddy, You keep saying for the price how good Orient is. I honestly see no issues with these watches for any price. I have had Lon genes fail, Tag Heurers leak at debts of 70 feet. My Seiko’s and Casios have never failed. So far Orient is utterly reliable also. So what benefit is spending more? I have an open mind to here what is such a big deal outside the brands I mentioned. I do believe you are honest and that is why I ask you. Kindest Regards, Arnold Gibbs
Recently got into watches after watching yours and other TH-cam videos and the red Kamisu was my first proper automatic watch great watch absolutely love the dial great show btw

I have the red one for jdm. I love it.
Great choices. I love that green color and the Tissot Gentleman is also a great watch without any doubt.
I got green one too is absolutely stunning its green and gold through strap. Lovely watch
If You want to go with Tissot gentleman you should buy automatic one sir . There is huge difference between auto-quartz.

Exactly my situation, otherwise I would have bought it already.
Since I've got the Ray II in black, this blue one was a no-brainer. Great watch.

This is an amazing watch. I have the red dial and it keeps more accurate time than my sarb033.
My first mechanical piece was an orient Mako with two crowns, one being a pusher for the date. Thanks to that little guy, I’ve now spent a few thousand dollars on watches in the last couple of years. No regrets though
I have this same Kamasu but with the red dial, I'm in love with it. People also give me compliments all the time, amazing piece for the price
Man you nailed it with the dull dials. The black skx dial looks like construction paper.
Just coming back to say this video is what sold me the Kamasu. I got mine just a few days ago and had been wearing it to everywhere. Money well spent.
Nice budget diver! Thanks for the praise on the macro shots as well!
After scratching the crystal on my Ray2, ( fencing wire and mineral crystal don't do well together) I had it replaced with a sapphire crystal. Really worth the upgrade and it is now by far my favourite. The sunburst on that blue dial is quite mesmerizing.
@@ChapeauRouge921
They sure do make beautiful sunburst! dials!
Vic Mouton -good move, and shows how much you appreciate the RayII.
I loved my black dial kamasu.
it runs +6 seconds a day, got sapphire crystal, amazing water resistance...
however the only sad thing about it is the aluminum bezel insert which is easily scratched.
I wish there is a ceramic bezel insert for this
Ceramic for under 300 is not possible
Got mine today from Amazon very pleased with it , very comfortable to were and looks amazing . Watching your channel with a few months love your reviews all the way from Ireland .
This one has been on my radar since I bought a Mako 2 some 12 months ago. Great watches with a great look!👍🏼
Thinking of getting my younger brother an entry level watch for Christmas, this is definitely a top option. Probably would be on of this one, the Scurfa, a Moonswatch, or maybe a PRX
You really had to make this, Teddy? The Amazon price was just coming down....
Teddy I too purchased an Orient as my first mechanical watch! A month later I proceeded to buy myself another Orient off of your website. I absolutely love Orient watches.
Oh, yeah the Kamasu! Great value for money. That's for sure. Still on my long list of watches to buy this year. Plus: I really dig that blue dial!
The red and green dial versions is also very nice 👍
Just picked up an orient open heart per your recommendations. Love it!
Cool, Orient is close to my heart too 😄, just bought a Kamasu.
I put a strapcode jubilee on my red dial kamasu they go great together
I own a blue ray 2 for the last 3 years. Orient is good company for the price range. Will pick this new watch up as a upgrade.
Teddy, I love your channel and that watch is incredible. Your video intros are getting near Hollywood Movie quality. They are as entertaining to watch as are the videos themselves. Class from top to bottom. Be well and best wishes.
Thank you for your kind words Michael! Be well 🙌🏻
Great review.
Thank you, Teddy.
I enjoyed the review and very honest critique.
This could be my next watch! I have a 6.25 in. Wrist, I normally don’t like dive watches but this one looks great!
I just bought one (black face, red bezel) and it's absolutely gorgeous. Lovely watch and great value for money. Nice quality.
The bracelet is fine, it's a solid bracelet that works like it should.
Thanks for the review! but I do hope orient makes a smaller version of this, maybe a 38 or 39mm version. That would be very nice!
Great review! Please consider reviewing the newer gorgeous Kamasu 2!
Just got my Kamasu the other day on the rubber strap, absolutely love it. Keeps better time than my Swiss watch for twice the price lol.
I have the red version, and it never fails to draw me in. You’re correct about the bracelet; I replaced it with a black leather strap and it looks and wears fantastic. It also wears great in summer on a Nato.
Why did the bracelet annoy you?
Interesting that the dial is rough textured. My Kamasu has a very smooth polished beautiful blue sunburst dial.
Take a closer look, youll find thatyours is rough aswell. It is simply hard to catch with a naked eye.
Just bought one with blue dial this week. My first automatic watch and it's fantastic for the money.
Indeed, and Orient as a whole are often the best overall buy in the sub-$300 field. Great vid as usual.
Definitely love my Kamasu - paid a bit extra to get the green dial (though I really do love the blue!), and have absolutely no regrets. Thanks for the review!
Great vid, what's that burnished leather strap? Awesome.
Got the red and the green dial. Absolute love them! Love your channel!
I have the Orient Kamasu with the maroon dial/black bezel. I really like it. My two issues are the tiny crown and my watch came with a bracelet that was scuffed in three places. Strapcode is now offering bracelets for this watch.
Why is your Ebay Competition only available to US citizens?
These videos are top notch. Great production and content.
Thank you my friend! 🙌🏻
Kamasu settling itself nicely as my daily wear.
My favorite affordable dive watch so far 👍. My only gripe is the gap between the crown and crown guard and the slightly smaller crown.
Got the Teal version right after it was released, and it's one of the watches I like the most in my collection
Awesome review. Don't have an Orient in my collection. After this review, might consider adding one. I hope you & yours are safe & well.
Thank you, Kenneth. This would be the one to get if you ask me. Also, wishing the same for you.
Teddy, the only man that can make Cleveland look like a hip global city in the 21st century.
Teddy,
You keep saying for the price how good Orient is.
Kindest Regards,
Arnold Gibbs
Recently got into watches after watching yours and other TH-cam videos and the red Kamisu was my first proper automatic watch great watch absolutely love the dial great show btw
Teddy, great review as usual. What jacket are you wearing? Looks great! Thks!
