Dear Jessica, I just wanted to say thank you so much for all of your wonderful videos. I adore all of your style videos, and your videos on deafness ended up helping me so much. It turns out that my aunt has been hiding how bad her hearing loss has gotten, and she just told me that she is almost completely deaf. Because of your channel, I felt confident enough to just quickly ask her what would help her understand me better (changing my pitch, making my face more visible, etc) and then gesturing a bit more and being more expressive in general. Almost instantly, she started seeming a lot less stressed and was able to participate in the conversation a lot more, and I actually had some ideas for things that might help her in the future that she wasn't confident enough to seek out before. Having seen your videos let me be a lot more casual and normal about it than I might have been otherwise, and the whole thing was really positive instead of being even a little bit awkward. I just wanted to say thank you and let you know that your videos are, person by person, making the world a better place for people. Also, happy birthday to Claudia!

I’ve found that it’s also quite useful to keep the following in my bag:
Writing utensils
Bandages, alcohol swabs, basic first aid needs
Stress ball (if you’re like me and have bad reactions to vivid social situations or if you might encounter anyone like that or, y’know, just stress)
Tissues!!
If your bag is big enough, one or two small water bottles because there isn’t always access to water when you may need it
Notebook/sticky notes/something to write on
Gum (i dunno really, but trust me, it helps)

Baby wipes, useful after finger foods BUT ALSO if you spill anything on your (or someone else's 😱) clothing, it's actually really used for removing it in a pinch.
Earplugs to minimize noise (well if you aint deaf^^)
Cristaliana Ivor I found earplugs as a great way to reduce anxiety while out and about.
Lola Alvarado I always have chapstick, especially at this time of the year, something to wipe my glasses, and blotting paper to avoid the greasy shiny look

I always carry some form of food with me (gluten free cereal bar, oat cakes, etc.) so that if I feel my blood sugar getting low, or I get really hungry, I have something to take care of it.
Tampons girl. Always keep them on you, for you or your friends.

One perk of being in a motorized wheelchair, is that you can have 2 bags and you don't need to carry a thing as the handlebars on the wheelchair do all the carrying :) That said, I bring 2 totebags with me.
First one has tissues, ID and wallet and things. comb. sometimes a spare hat or scarf ('cus you never know) and if I am going out long enough, I will bring food with me because I can not eat out at restaurants because food issues and my disability. The second bag, contains a wheelchair poncho and things for if it starts to rain (as for some reason, they do not make motorized wheelchairs - totally waterproof and if the grocery delivery services goofs and gives me the wrong food that I can not eat, I usually have that in my bag to pass out to people on the street as in NYC, there are A LOT of people on the street asking for food, so I just pass that on. :)
Ah, yes, the siren sound of the delivery. And those roses were so sweet! (And the search for flattering angles is real.)

Your doggy sweater inspired me to make a Christmas llama sweater for a party.
I always take a safety pin or three.
At the party at the end of sixth form someone stood on the tail of my skirt and the seam split right in front of my crotch. (Fortunately I could use my bag to hide the area!)
My mum had to drive up and sew it. Now I just carry extra safety pins.
Also good if you’ve got a button that won’t stay done up.

Other handy things include:
Some hand sanitizer, and wet wipes.
A pen/pencil and a small notebook.
A tiny perfume and some gum.
Band aids and alcohol swaps.
A pair of pads and tampons in case someone needs them.
Extra hair tie/pins.
And most importantly I keep some cash in a hidden pocket in case of emergencies!
