Claudia Jenrich I’ve never actually heard of that tradition, so I have no idea haha. But since normally here you’ll have a whole train of people, I don’t think one person could be the oldest and youngest at the same time:)
I have to tell you something. Today at university I had a class about religion in the US and we were talking about all types of believes. And our teacher asked us if we knew what quakerism is and no one knew. And I was like "Wow, wait a sec, she's talking about Jessica." So I speaked up and said that for Quakers equality is ver important, that they treat everyone equal, and it doesn't matter what race, gender, age you are. It doesn't matter if you're disabled or not. It doesn't matter what is your sexual orientation. And I said that gay marriage is religiously recognized by Quakers. I said everything what I remembered from your videos. And obviously, I was thinking about you all while talking about this. And I was really happy that I could somehow in an indirect way talk about you during my class. I wish I could talk about you and equality and social acceptance more and educate people... Another proof that your channel is an educational platform. I thought that I would share this story. So here you are❤

We celebrate Santa Lucia in certain towns of Italy (included mine - Verona) too! We don't put candles on our heads, but it's a very special day because children receive presents from the saint on the 13th of December. On the 12th evening, for hosting the saint in their house, children and their parents put in a large plate some dried fruit (like dried figs, nuts, walnuts, chestnuts), clementines, carobs, biscuits, candies and our typical shortcakes with raisin. These last ones represent Jesus as a baby (we eat them all the Christmas period). When my parents were children, people used to provide also some hay for the saint's donkey that helps her delivering the presents. Finally they leave a message to say "thank you" to the saint. For us Santa Lucia is the "official" beginning of winter/Christmas festivities. I'm 30 now, but it's still one of my favourite childhood memories and I would like that could be a wonderful memory for my nephews too! I hope it will be interesting to read all this description of Italian Santa Lucia's Day in Verona :)
St. Lucia is the best Scandinavian Christmas tradition, and it’s lovely for children. We did it with the kindergarten I work in, and all the kids loved it. They sang songs and did it for their parents and at the school and for the elderly centre next to us, and they got cakes, which seems to be their favourite part.

In Denmark we also have Lucia day but one of the most important elements is the song that goes with it. Every year there is one Lucia 'bride' who will wear the candle crown and she will lead a parade of other girls just holding a candle, all of them singing the song. It's fun to see how you still celebrate Lucia day even though you live in England.
In Denmark we have some Lucia traditions as well. There is a 'lucia brud' (usually a girl with blood hair, but a brunette or a boy happens as well) and then in school og in church. the 'lucia brud' Walks in front and behind them is how ever many there is in the scout troup or in the class. The lucia brud with 4 candles on their head, and the rest holding a candle in their hands. And as they walk they sing a song.
When I was in Kindergarten way back in 1991 I got to dress in the Santa Lucia outfit in my classroom and pass out cookies to my class and the other kindergarten classes. It was really fun too.

I live in Alberta, Canada and we don't have snow either. It has been 8 to15 degrees with full sun! My doggo Pumpkin is sure enjoying it since we can do park walks. She is a chihuahua so walks are weather permitting only! I look forward to your new website! It's always exciting to launch something different! Edit: I really don't think you would be any different with your fashion, hair or makeup if you weren't disabled. I think you would probably be able to do MORE with those things you love because you'd have more energy to invest into them. The Saint Lucia's Day isn't only a Swedish thing, since we have that in Finland as well, especially within the Swedish speaking population (Finn Swedes mainly, along with the little Swedish nationals we have). I'm a Finnish speaking Finn, and in my old school they used to crown one of the girls with the candle crown, and sing songs around the school. I'm guessing this was because we had some Swedish speaking students there as well, since that was not a thing in other schools I went to.

AngelsReign generally we do it in our school auditorium or in a church accompanied by Christmas carols, not really down the streets :) and then a Lucia is picked out of the choir!
I didn't know that people outside of the Scandinavian region celebrated Lucia! I don't think it's that common over there though, right? Finland has it's own national Lucia and a lot of schools have their own as well, she and her comrades (they're called "tärnor" in Swedish which translates to "bridesmaid" in English) come and sing for the rest of the school and sometimes even bring "Lussebullar/lussekatt". Lussebullar, if you don't know, are a saffron baked good, shaped kind of like an infinity sign with raisins pressed into the swirls.
