I gave myself a few simple rules when choosing my name (Tara). 1-It should be easy to say and spell 2-I don't want to share a name with someone I personally know, or any major celebrities 3-Ideally would be common to my age group Picking middle and last names was more difficult so I got some help from loved ones for those, but I'm really happy with the name I settled on!
Tara is a good name. It's also the name of my favorite childhood game on the GBC. Dragon Warrior Monster's 2: Tara's Adventure. It's old but it's my childhood

Hey ❤ I chose Evelyn too, but I find myself mostly going by Eve. Except when I'm signing something, because Evelyn looks so nice and pretty with all the loops. But Eve sounds better with my last name. Well... not my birth last name, but the last name I ended up choosing. (Religious family, wanted to FULLY cut ties)

A problem I came across choosing a name was that, as someone who plays a lot of D&D, friends often chose names I liked for their characters, so I thought it could be weird to choose one of those names. I decided to go with Gwen anyway, though, and it worked out fine. But it does cause some strange situations where I sometimes think someone’s talking about me, and they’re actually talking about my friend’s character.
More things to remember! 1. Choose how many syllables you’re comfortable using for yourself on a daily basis. I personally was only comfortable with one or two. 2. Don’t think about how gendered your new name is or how popular or generic, but what qualities or emotions your name conveys instead. (I chose an ancient name of a great and powerful woman because I felt that a delicate name didn’t fit my personality. The name of a warrior queen did.) 3. Remember that you don’t have to love love love your name. Cis people don’t!Remember your name is just a serial number to be called at the DMV, during sex, or during a breakup. You will not always feel euphoria when your name is called. It will be lovely, heartbreaking, bureaucratic, fun, and above all, neutral. 4. Use your name in private and temporary instances for a while. It’s tempting to try out new names with friends and family, but it can be a headache if you have to start over. 5. Do not seek a name desperately. Allow yourself time to stumble across the multiple names that really resonate with you. The ones that ring in your ears day and night because you find them beautiful. Try it on for a week privately, and then put it in your back pocket. The only name that won’t get stale for you is the name you can’t bring yourself to discard as an option. I’ll say it again. THE ONLY NAME THAT WON’T GET STALE IS THE NAME YOU’RE UNCOMFORTABLE DISCARDING AS AN OPTION. Hope this helps. :3
I have had this screen name for a while, so people had been calling me Hero online for a long time. It sounds cute, it's an existing name (Spanish and Greek), it's gender neutral. Later, I learned that it was the name of a priestess of Aphrodite.. which makes it a steriotypical trans girl name.
I did this toooooo- It wasn't for D&D, but a story I was making, and I ended up choosing the name of my main character- I have ADHD, so what that means for me personally, is that the story never went anywhere I'm changing my first, middle, and last name. My male parental unit is gonna be pissed u.u
I'll make it easy for you all: steal your comfort character's name (unless they're male) I did that with Mae Borowski from NITW and it's going great, I love my name
I finally went with Melody. For one thing, im always humming, whistling tapping and im a musician, but korr then this, it just felt right. I love how pretty it makes me feel :3
As a trans girl myself one day I just sort of realized I enjoyed being a max- and then eventually realized I wasn’t really a Maxine because that’s more formal than I really feel- so I picked Maxie and it just sort of stuck. Then I hear about the people calling themselves Madeline like from Celeste and I’m like “ok that’s actually not a horrible idea lol”
For as long as I can remember, even I always wanted to be named Mabel, because it was my mother's nickname in her homeland. I didn't want to be directly named after her though, so for a while I went with Maybel, but ultimately I settled with Amabel, since it flows better with my last name, and have May/Maybel as a nickname!
Ahh the wonderful process of choosing your name. Not many people in life have this privilege. For me, I chose my name 35 years ago, I wanted my 3 initials to spell a certain word to remind those I worked with who I now was, initials being used all the time in work. My initials are HER and I chose my names to fit them. Never regretted the names I have. You have to choose a name that makes you feel good ... good luck to those who are in this process..... and no I did not go with Henrietta 😁
Picking a name is such pressure! Wanting to find the perfect name! The responsibility! And the second type of person just picks something and stay with it!
After a bit your voice drops to a more natural sounding voice. It’s really sweet and the perfect “moms reading you a bed time story”. I don’t know if you feel self conscious or even notice when it happens. But from one trans girl to another I want you to know it’s beautiful:3
Yeah I tend to speak higher to feel more confident but once I forget it tends to drop down a tad lol, I'm a little self concious of it but I try my best to know it sounds fine haha

i think its kind of beautiful that when picking a new name, we end up very often on websites for authors. its like you're rewriting your existence into what you want it to be, in a way.
Ive had mine picked for a while. A lot of people i notice tend to keep the first letter of their deadname or the “female version.” Now me personally, i despise my name entirely, i hate everything its associated with, so i went an entirely different direction, and after a bit of back-and-forth, I’ve landed on Taya! I really like it, and kinda proud of it cause i just kinda… spawned the name from nowhere lol. I tried to avoid having a name that ive heard elsewhere before (cause otherwise thatd be all i could think about lol), so im glad i found one that im happy with ^w^
I tried to keep the same nickname to please other people but I eventually realized no one would actually see me and not my dead name if I went down that route so I went for a totally different name. Totally worth.
I played a lot of games when I was younger that let you create your character. I'd always name my character Aiella, idk where I got it from, but some people told me it is a Spanish name and I'm Spanish so maybe. But anyway, that name has been with me my whole life, so when picking a name after coming out, nothing felt more personal to me than Aiella
Haii, my name is Vixian! :3 During this process I found that making up names or combining two different name or words together helped me A LOT. Unfortunately have only been able to do it with my first name which I’m honestly fine with. For me I combined my love for foxes using the word Vixen, and my love for the the name Vivian, and that’s how I got my name, have been going with it for a few years and it’s honestly my favorite ^w^ Thank you for coming g to my yap sesh and I wish everyone luck on their journey ❤️🦊
Foxes! Weee 🦊🦊🦊! I'm not totally sure about my name but I approve this message. I chose mine based on astronomy or space: Skye. However I'm not sure of it because I heard Skye is more common transfem name and I'm like ahhh I don't wanna be common or else it could be confusing. But idk I like it. I may base it off of a different thing like a moon or celestial object like Callisto
@@VixenovaSkye It’s okay if you chose a common name! The goal should be to choose something that resonates you as a person. But I totally love your idea of basing your name off a moon ❤️
Smh Lucy... was just about to have my first ever dose of E and now here I am looking through potential names again... (JK, I kinda needed this video too)
I picked my name from watching anime. It rang like a bell, when the MC of an anime called out, “Namae wa Mitsuha” it didn’t go with my surname, but I really wanted that name….. A Japanese name does not go with an English or French name, so that had to change too.
Honestly, I didn’t even put any thought into why I have to or must choose any name. I just looked up names. I like French names and the language, so I looked up French ones and listened to how they sound, if I like them, and maybe associate them with some beautiful actor or idol that I like visually. I definitely didn’t like the “usual” names; at least to me, there are some names that are more common than others. Also keep in mind, it doesn’t have to be a name that feels like a “right” or “normal” name. You can name yourself however you want. You can even create a name that sounds however you want, if it is “reasonable,” of course, when you want to legally change it. So I first had “Danielle” in mind, which sounds nice to me. Then I thought of “Juliette,” which is a beautiful name. I then settled on “Camille.” It reminded me of that actress from the movie *10,000 BC*, Camilla Belle. My legal name change is announced at the registry office, and I now have a 3-month waiting period until I can make an appointment at the office to finalize it.
one thing i did was i took my online alias and broke it down to see what made it work! so, my alias is director. it was more comfortable than what my preferred name was at that time, so it was my starting point. so, i noted that there’s “harshness” in two of its syllables (Di-rec-Tor), and i liked that D sound. so my qualifications were harshness and masc, and i looked into D names. the name i found (dante) has that harshness with the D and T (which are also specifically shared with director), is masc, and i like the sound. so its sorta like my already comfortable alias and is a name i find to be really nice!
I've had the name Abigail, or just Abbi for about a year now, and all of a sudden I want to change it to Delilah for 2 reasons. 1 is bedman and Delilah, 2 is so I can ask my friends to call me deli for short
You put my name in the thumbnail you summoned me. Also I just imagined a scenario like in The Simpsons with Homer trying to impersonate Mr. Burns in the Post Office 'hello my name is Mr. Burns, I believe you have a letter for me'. 'Okay Mr. Burns and what is your first name?' 'I don't know'.
In what should have been a MASSIVE Clue-by-4, I often thought how beautiful the fem form of my birth name was (I still do); however, when I finally came out, I decided that wasn't the name for me. Over the course of the ~2 months after my awakening/coming out, I probably toyed with at least one name (usually several) from just about every letter in the English alphabet. Eventually, I narrowed my choices down to fem-deadname, Susan and Athena. After talking to my dad's sister (the only Susan in my life whose opinion on the issue mattered to me), I decided to go with Susan for my first name and change my middle name from a family name to the hyphenated pairing of 2 friends I admire and adore. While I still have to do the whole legal rigamarole, I haven't used my dead/legal name for just over 3 years except for the necessary legal forms of employment and other such Government-mandated documents, even most of my on-the-job training documents ("Here, sign this to prove you've just been trained on this equipment") I've signed as Susan.
One of my trans masc friends literally came up with his name on the spot off of a character from a marvel movie during class and its been his name since lmao.
Reddit listed sources for trans/NB names: 1. Historical figures (and/or legendary/mythological names) 2. Fictional characters (like from media like novels, films, comics, webcomics, anime, manga, plays, etc) 3. Friends/family (anyone you know like celebrities or someone you know in general) 4. Flowers (only works for trans femme people unlike the rest of the list) 5. Virtues (same as the flowers above as Faith, Hope, Charity, etc are girls names) I got 1-3 from Reddit. I got 4 & 5 from memory. Number 1 and trans women naming themselves after goddesses is very common too. I think I first noticed the trend because of a documentary on trans women in NYC. The name Isis in it stuck out and kinda became a trans meme for a while because of it and goddess names in general. This was way back two decades ago when Isis only meant Egyptian goddess and not radicals from Iraq and Syria. Also, for number 2 in addition to canonically trans characters, you have trans allegorical and trans coded characters or even characters people head cannon as trans. The Nikkes from Nikke Goddess of Victory and Konan from Naruto are examples that come to mind. The plot of Nikke is robot/cyborg/Android women saving the world from aliens/robots despite being treats super terribly by anyone who isn't the player/mc. Konan is part of her being a ninja biologically paper for magic/chakra related reasons. Part of liking a character is also liking their fashion sense. This can be TLDRed down to pattern/outfit in general and color pallete. Bright shades of colors are considered light/soft while the same outfit is you shifted the shades to dark and or pale would be seen as dark/edgy. Take Lolita fashion as an example sweet lolita is light/soft while gothic lolita is dark/edgy while classic lolita is somewhere in the middle. Name meaning can also factor in. For example, Lucy/Lucia and similar names are derived from light in Latin/various Romance languages. Sombra and similar names mean shadow in Spanish and/or Latin/Romance languages. This can also affect what characters you main in a video game or even what skins you use with them. Overwatch and Apex Legends (and Valorant too if I remember but I don't play Valorant as much or even watch stream of it as much as the others) are examples games. There are lots of trans and NB streamers among streamers who play those games.
Me when I came out: "I don't think I wanna change my name tho" Me a year later: "maybe I do but Idk what I'd want to be called. I don't wanna do the cliché common noun name thing tho" Me now: (common noun name, only thing between me and officially changing it is deciding on whether I want middle names)
I never really planned my new name, it sort of just happened. When I first discovered that I was trans, I joined a few websites and discords to find more, but wanted to go by female name to hide my identity, so I just picked a name from a book. Years later when I started coming out to people, the first people who I came out to were some member of the one discord server who knew me irl, and when they asked me what name I wanted, it seemed natural to continue to use the same first name that they had been using for me for years, and keep my own last name. Then in February this year, I legally change my name.
I legit just took the name of a character I made based on myself. Made it feminine, and went with that. It was also similar to the handle that I went by online, so it was easy to answer to it since I was already called that while gaming.
Luckily my name was assigned to me when I sent a meme that had been signed by the creator on discord. They started calling me that name as a joke and it stuck. Honestly it's kinda sad how happy I felt when they would call me a girl name
i named myself like i name my OC's lmao, i just made namelike gibberish until something sounded right, and now im accidentally called seaweed in japanese
Little story related to this. My online user has been ramsense for quite a while. I've met a few people online, and one of them just called me ramsy cause he didn't want to say ramsense every damn time. So eventually, when I realized I was trans, I just took that and actually made it my name, lol.
Hoo boy, names. Tough choice indeed. Me, who's NB and maybe trans???, had a pretty hard time deciding on one. I basically just looked at gender neutral names and picked out some that sounded cool. But gradually, I just shifted to more and more female names. I think I found my preferred one by now though. And to anyone who's still searching, don't worry, take your time. It'll come to you eventually. Best of luck on your further journey, still.
tysm for this. ive been going by one name for a while now, but i really kinda chose it for other people and i never felt fully at home in it. and ive been scared to change it bc what if i dont like that one either? this reminded me that it's a process, and i should keep going until ive found the right one.
I picked my name (Clara) because it was very similar to my online handle. Fun Fact: I got used to it so quickly that I almost accidently signed my E-Mails with that name on multiple occasions. Good thing I proof read those ^^"
Picking my names was easy HOWEVER, I should have tested it, turns out people mispronounce it all the time. I stopped correcting people. If they pronounce it correctly, they unknowingly get an invisible cookie.
I find names ending in Y or E/A are pretty popular among transfemmes as they tend to sound a lot more feminine. I also like names with lots of S's or 'sh' sounds. Personally I went with certain femme names and nicknames for a long time as a teen in chatrooms and such, but eventually went with a femme-leaning unisex name that I love dearly and have had for over 10 years now. Just a hint, most of the time when I say my name people are like 'oh so you're from the south huh?' or 'isnt that the dogs name from that one movie?'. I find it to be a very rare name overall though I do see it used by other trans people, usually women occasionally.
3 syllables ✅ Popular in my birth year, not popular after ✅ Nature-related meaning ✅ Not rare for my race ✅ Nickname potential ✅ Pokemon character with the same name ✅ Teenage witch ✅ Can't really beat that, the way I see it
when i first realized that i'm non-binary (specifically a demiboy, but i didn't realize at the time), i was so excited to change my name. i've always hated my deadname with a burning passion. thing is, i didn't know what to call myself! i went through a few websites, but nothing stuck out at me. i only ever considered 3 names. i thought of neo, because i had just watched the matrix at the time, but i knew that name wouldn't stick, so i moved on. i don't even remember the second name. i thought of it because it looked cool, but i couldn't pronounce it for the life of me, so i had to scrap it. here's how i found my new name (which i will not be sharing with strangers on the internet). i found a name with a meaning that i felt described me. i wasn't even thinking of the meanings of names when i first started, but it helped me, someone who had no idea what i was looking for, finally decide. hopefully this story isn't too personal to share online...
8:32 My friends wouldnt know what because theyre all indecisive then probably ignore the list and all unanimously vote on like LittleBitch19 or something like that as a joke LMFAO. To be fair Id do the same
My dead name was the most popular name in 2003 too, it was a question on Who Wants to be a Millionaire. I tried feminisising my dead name for the first years of transition, but it didn't work as well because it was too neutral (in fact it is masc in the country I was born) and lead people to the deadname anyway.
I think my name is interesting in terms of how I got it My name is Tiva (A combination of TV + Emma/Eva is how I came up with it). I originally applied this name to a character in a story I've developed for years. Although, I realized over time, that I had projected all the issues I had onto this character. This made the name feel more connected to me, so I decided to split the name off to me and give my character a similar but different enough name for them. I had also made my persona to make the difference between me and the character. My full name rolls off the tongue because its two short names (my first and middle name) and a long last name. I didn't know this but my name in Hopi means "Dance" and I really love music as it motivates me and kinda makes me dance. So this name for me really sticks, even despite my siblings saying its a bit out there. At least my dad likes it though :D
I feel like the name I found might seem like it’s very very UNCOMMON but i found I really cling to that name I chose very endearingly and it feels like I’m giving it a chance And yes it is the feminine equivalent of my birth name
I decided on my second time around I'd have an alliterative name because one of my trans friends had MM initials and it sounds nice. I sought to also pick a name for MM initials. I also went for equal syllables, three each. I then researched M names and made a shortlist that I liked, based on vibes and researching commonness. I then made my friends advice me on which between my top three to pick. Hence, Mallory. My overthinking of the process has given me a name I love and even gets me compliments.
Commenting from my old account because I can't change it for now (family), but I ended up choosing Rosalie after looking for a name for a good couple of months. I'm obsessed with choosing "correct" things as if there was only one correct answer, but I liked the name "Rosalina" (yes her) and wanted to make her name my middle name, but since I'm French I changed it slightly to fit. After looking for the "correct" name for a while, and friends starting to call me by what I thought would be my middle name, I realized it wasn't too bad after all, and decided to go with it. Pros: it keeps the first letter intact, which I like because R is a cool letter and my mom has it tattooed, you can shorten it many ways (rosa, rose, rosie..) and it's not too common either but still exists. Cons: literally inspired by the super mario series, but thankfully in French, Rosalina is named Harmonie, so most won't know. My old name is Rémy, which I think is pretty, but I've been almost bullied over it because of the show. I learned while searching for a new name that my old name and its -i variant are actually given to girls in the USA, despite being a strictly masc. name in France. odd stuff! Middle name will be Sophia because a close friend had suggested it and I like it. Anyway thanks for reading.
I went through 10 names until I fell in love with my name now that I kept, which is Katherine. A lot of people say it suits me. And to be honest, it wasn't super hard for me to come up with names. (I did a LOT of thinking because I had a LOT of spare time...) But I'm so happy as Katherine. I'd never go back to my dead name, even if the Inventor of Bop It, whom I know personally, offered me his whole company when he retires.
I take two names and slam them together. The issue with that is that people might confuse it for the non-fused name. Take the fusion of Sylvia and Olivia for Sylivia, and people will call me Sylvia. It's worth it to me though
When I was a kid, I had 2 imaginary friends, a boy and a girl Today the boy's name is my nickname on online gaming, and the girl's name is my name irl 💜
I landed on the name Amber very quickly in the process of realizing I was trans (which was only a couple months ago). I wasn't looking for a name, I wasn't even fully aware yet, it was just a word that I liked but as I realized I was trans, it made more and more sense, and I really like it!
I picked Sophia because it means Wisdom (went through several explainations of why specifically, but ultimately it boils down to this and the fact it slaps), but when paired with my family name, I noticed a bit too late that it could be translated to "Wisdom to madness", which slaps even harder, but kind of changes the promise behind the virtue name
I chose a name that followed alongside my religion (Shoshana, which is a Hebrew version of Susanna). It felt weird and stiff at first, with many raising an eyebrow but it's become an integral part of my transition, it just feels natural now! Give a name some time to feel like if it'll fit or not (:
Funnily enough my parents would've named me Aurora. I had a love at first sight experience finding my name. Isabel really clicks and I can't imagine going by any other girl name
How i handled picking a name was telling myself "i cant be trans, i havnt picked a new name yet". Then literally 2 days after finding a name that id like if i just ever happened to be trans my egg cracked snd i came out as transfem
I picked mine after a non-player character in Fallout 1. Changed the last name as well - and added a middle name too. This one I took after some scientist/engineer of Serbian origin.
Im norwegian, and names are hard since most English cool names dont rlly translate well into norwegian (not alot of the ones ive thought of at least :3)
I recently thought of choosing Abby/Abi as it's spelled similar to my nickname that no one uses, and it sounds kinda cute, so why not¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Edit: so I decided to search the feminine equivalent to my dead name and apparently it's Apas lol
If your name is more than one syllable long, or has common shortenings MAKE SURE YOU LIKE THEM. No matter how many times you say "No, my name is Kristina." People will call you Kris, or Tina.
This isn’t even necessarily a trans thing. People often assume they can call me “Trent”, but I only allow my father to call me that. I’m honestly tempted to change my name solely for that reason.

The name of a warrior queen did.)
I immediately connected the first three "stereotypical transfem names" you said to three trans TH-camrs who have those names so yeah that checks out.
Choosing a name is one thing that I still can't decide on simply because I haven't given myself time to think of one
I diagnose you with Judy
I have had this screen name for a while, so people had been calling me Hero online for a long time. It sounds cute, it's an existing name (Spanish and Greek), it's gender neutral.
Later, I learned that it was the name of a priestess of Aphrodite.. which makes it a steriotypical trans girl name.
I honestly just chose the first name I saw (Alex) on a “gender neutral names” list lmao. It suits my well I think.
sometimes common names are really nice

Another great way to pick a name is to steal it from one of your OCs!
This is why I'm named Iris.
I was pretty close to picking Iris actually hahahaha, its a nice name
oh and here i thought it could have been from AI The Somnium Files lmao
this is so real, RIP the main character of the book I was planning on write, too awkward to write now cause it feels like a self insert
I did this toooooo- It wasn't for D&D, but a story I was making, and I ended up choosing the name of my main character- I have ADHD, so what that means for me personally, is that the story never went anywhere I'm changing my first, middle, and last name. My male parental unit is gonna be pissed u.u
@@MySilentReticenceparental unit lol I love that
I also needed this video but Duolingo is threatening me so I'll be back after some Spanish
Omg thanks almost forgot

I did that with Mae Borowski from NITW and it's going great, I love my name

I didn't want to be directly named after her though, so for a while I went with Maybel, but ultimately I settled with Amabel, since it flows better with my last name, and have May/Maybel as a nickname!
it took a bit, i just said "simplicity is key" and chose 4 letters that worked, it turned cute and came to be Navi
@@NaviOmega from a Nori, agreed. poorly aged username though
3:37 i immediately said "monkey" cause i was born on the year of the monkey lol but then i remembered "oh yeah names"
My names spell PMS (unintentional) 😂
I do like PS as a tag to write my name quickly though
Not me literally brainstorming Bridget as a potential middle name earlier this week😂😂😂
@@fairyprincesslucy it’s okay! I get the same way! But it’s absolutely lovely to listen to. And when I’m falling asleep to a video it can put me right out!!
picking a name for me is thankfully very easy cause my parents rather my mom told me what my name would have been if I was born a girl.
i think its kind of beautiful that when picking a new name, we end up very often on websites for authors. its like you're rewriting your existence into what you want it to be, in a way.
I literally just stole my name from a girl I thought was cool when I was discovering myself and stuck with it
Haii, my name is Vixian! :3
During this process I found that making up names or combining two different name or words together helped me A LOT. Unfortunately have only been able to do it with my first name which I’m honestly fine with. For me I combined my love for foxes using the word Vixen, and my love for the the name Vivian, and that’s how I got my name, have been going with it for a few years and it’s honestly my favorite ^w^
Thank you for coming g to my yap sesh and I wish everyone luck on their journey ❤️🦊
Foxes!

I picked my name from watching anime. It rang like a bell, when the MC of an anime called out, “Namae wa Mitsuha” it didn’t go with my surname, but I really wanted that name…..
A Japanese name does not go with an English or French name, so that had to change too.
I went with a variation of Lily because a love song called Lili Marlene would often come up on my playlist when I was figuring myself out.
I'm transmasc and I landed on Jamie, top 100 baby boy names 😎🤞

@@hellokittyluverrrXD HELLO LMAO
I'm impressed by that and kinda envious because it took me nearly 2 years to figure out a first name.
Reddit listed sources for trans/NB names:
1. Historical figures (and/or legendary/mythological names)
2. Fictional characters (like from media like novels, films, comics, webcomics, anime, manga, plays, etc)
3. Friends/family (anyone you know like celebrities or someone you know in general)
4. Flowers (only works for trans femme people unlike the rest of the list)
5. Virtues (same as the flowers above as Faith, Hope, Charity, etc are girls names)
I got 1-3 from Reddit.
Me when I came out: "I don't think I wanna change my name tho"
Me a year later: "maybe I do but Idk what I'd want to be called. I don't wanna do the cliché common noun name thing tho"
Me now: (common noun name, only thing between me and officially changing it is deciding on whether I want middle names)
Honestly it's kinda sad how happy I felt when they would call me a girl name
as someone who didn't fully come out, i had time to think of the name i will use once i transition, so yeah big win for me
also for the name i MIGHT have based it off of a character related to one of my hyperfixations
i named myself like i name my OC's lmao, i just made namelike gibberish until something sounded right, and now im accidentally called seaweed in japanese
Best of luck on your further journey, still.
tysm for this. ive been going by one name for a while now, but i really kinda chose it for other people and i never felt fully at home in it. and ive been scared to change it bc what if i dont like that one either? this reminded me that it's a process, and i should keep going until ive found the right one.
i had my name picked out long long before my egg properly hatched.
Nobody believes me when I tell people my name’s sourced from an anime character. But it is.
I picked my name (Clara) because it was very similar to my online handle. Fun Fact: I got used to it so quickly that I almost accidently signed my E-Mails with that name on multiple occasions. Good thing I proof read those ^^"
i thought i was original when i picked lily AND NOW IM FINDING OUT ITS ONE OF THE MOST COMMON NAMES??????????? NOOOOOOOOOO
Picking my names was easy HOWEVER, I should have tested it, turns out people mispronounce it all the time. I stopped correcting people. If they pronounce it correctly, they unknowingly get an invisible cookie.
Not me thinking "i already got my name on lock" just to get 20 seconds in and then spiral for 45 min reconsidering my name before coming back....👀
My name used to be my DND character's name. Was playing a warlock warforged based on a marionette, so I called them Marion. And here we are.
I scrolled way too much r/TransTryouts and eventually landed on the one I have (Hannah).

when i first realized that i'm non-binary (specifically a demiboy, but i didn't realize at the time), i was so excited to change my name. i've always hated my deadname with a burning passion.
thing is, i didn't know what to call myself! i went through a few websites, but nothing stuck out at me. i only ever considered 3 names. i thought of neo, because i had just watched the matrix at the time, but i knew that name wouldn't stick, so i moved on. i don't even remember the second name. i thought of it because it looked cool, but i couldn't pronounce it for the life of me, so i had to scrap it.
here's how i found my new name (which i will not be sharing with strangers on the internet). i found a name with a meaning that i felt described me. i wasn't even thinking of the meanings of names when i first started, but it helped me, someone who had no idea what i was looking for, finally decide.
hopefully this story isn't too personal to share online...
I think my name is interesting in terms of how I got it
My name is Tiva (A combination of TV + Emma/Eva is how I came up with it).
My entire process was going through a mental list of Jane Austen characters and thinking Emma sounded nice lol
I feel like the name I found might seem like it’s very very UNCOMMON but i found I really cling to that name I chose very endearingly and it feels like I’m giving it a chance
And yes it is the feminine equivalent of my birth name
I decided on my second time around I'd have an alliterative name because one of my trans friends had MM initials and it sounds nice. I sought to also pick a name for MM initials. I also went for equal syllables, three each. I then researched M names and made a shortlist that I liked, based on vibes and researching commonness. I then made my friends advice me on which between my top three to pick. Hence, Mallory. My overthinking of the process has given me a name I love and even gets me compliments.
You barely make mention of the fact that you can change your last name as well with zero additional effort.

I am the harbinger of the Bridget army, BRIDGET GANG RISE UP
Commenting from my old account because I can't change it for now (family), but I ended up choosing Rosalie after looking for a name for a good couple of months.
I picked the name Lily after the character from Katawa Shoujo, and now I got that it's a cliche name ._.
Seeing Bridget in the thumbnail, I got an internal brain jumpscare of a certain yo-yo user
When I was a kid, I had 2 imaginary friends, a boy and a girl
Today the boy's name is my nickname on online gaming, and the girl's name is my name irl 💜
I also like being able to keep my initials. This, for me, meant that I could keep things like my email address and signature the same
I’ve been playing with the name Lupe and it makes me feel pretty happy
The thing for me is that I'm German but I hate pretty much all German names but when I wanna choose an English name it doesn't go with my last name😢
Beautiful name, I love it. ❤
The name "Victoria" just kind of spawned in my head and it feels like it was made for me 😅
Funnily enough my parents would've named me Aurora. I had a love at first sight experience finding my name. Isabel really clicks and I can't imagine going by any other girl name
Jane worked for me. Much love, Jane
How i handled picking a name was telling myself "i cant be trans, i havnt picked a new name yet". Then literally 2 days after finding a name that id like if i just ever happened to be trans my egg cracked snd i came out as transfem
I already saw a meme about using baby name generators, so that's how I became Aurora
from a Wren I would suggest don’t have a one syllable name, everything sounds like it.
I recently thought of choosing Abby/Abi as it's spelled similar to my nickname that no one uses, and it sounds kinda cute, so why not¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Edit: so I decided to search the feminine equivalent to my dead name and apparently it's Apas lol
This would have been relevant to me, like, 2 days ago. Took forever and a half but I decided on Skye after a minor war and several test names
