    This has got to be the most informative and detailed explanation on how to properly set up and use Applied Ballistics on TH-cam. Thanks for going to the trouble of making this video Ben , you nailed it mate . Cheers 🍻

      @ The Long Gun Project No worries Ben , I asked if you could make a video about the settting up and use of Applied Ballistics because I knew that if you did make a video it would be a thorough explanation, unlike some others who skip through or don’t point out the most important inputs on the app . Once again thanks Ben . I’ll be sharing it with many . Cheers 🍻

    Excellent explanation of the program. I have one question about the MV correction. If the rounds were landing at the top of the plate would a negative number be entered for the mils. Instead of 11.2 it would be -11.2 mils .

    • @TheLongGunProject
      @TheLongGunProject  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      G’day bobcolorado3491. Thanks for watching and I’m glad you found the video helpful! You question is a good one. The way the application is setup the elevation you dial to bring your POI up is expressed as a positive number; in this case 11.2mils. To express the number as a negative would essentially be telling the app that you had to dial 11.2mils below zero to strike your target. This would cause your firing solutions to become way out of whack and you’d get some very confusing firing solutions. I hope this answers your question.
      I hope you enjoy the other videos on the channel. Thank you for watching 🇦🇺👍🏼

    Hey Ben, Thanks for taking the time...excellently presented and informative.
    As I shoot a LA105 in .308, I’m wondering if it’s possible to true the data at a closer distance? Or I would be around/within the subsonic threshold.

    • @TheLongGunProject
      @TheLongGunProject  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Ian McMinn Thanks for the feedback. I’m really glad that you found the video useful. Just worked up some basic data on the app and it shows you can true a 175gr Sierra MatchKing at 2650fps at distances from 650m-900m. BUT if you don’t have that kind of distance available to you then just step through the trueing process in the app with the distance you have available. For example, if you’re limited to a 500m range then you can true at 500m. The app will still allow you to do that. Just bear in mind that your trued data may still be a little bit out but that will only show up at longer ranges. And when that happens you can true it again 👍🏼 Data trued at 500m is still better than untried data mate. Thanks for watching the channel!

    Just hang a plum bob and use a level on gun and sscope the plumb bod to vertical line in scope there is no question if it is level. The reason being the retucal is set by the flat spot on the bottom of scope you cant get to if scope is mounted.

    Great tutorial. My LOOK ANGLE keeps going back to "52.254 deg". I keep calibrating it as close as I can to "0 deg" using the angle tool and it keeps going back to the 52-deg offsetting my ballistics. Also, my 200 yd zero keeps fluctuating on it's own every few seconds between a 0 yd zero and a 200 yd zero. Please help.

      G’day Andy, I’m not able to replicate the problems you’re having with your AB App so I’m not able to give you any advice on how to rectify it. I’d try reinstalling the app or running any updates; but if that doesn’t work I’d reach out to Applied Ballistics via their website and they can help you.

    Can i export data from this app (range card) to exel? I have kestrel but I need to print this data and use fully analog :)

    • @TheLongGunProject
      @TheLongGunProject  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      To be honest that is something that I haven’t tried. I believe it is possible if you have a AB Kestrel connect program on a computer and you program in the details and atmosphere is. But I’ll need to see if it can be done from the app on the phone.

    How about if you add a suppressor to the rifle and you get more M.V. ? Do you build a new rifle profile? Or do you modify the settings of the rifle profile already created?

    • @TheLongGunProject
      @TheLongGunProject  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Nics574 we created a different ammunition profile in the software so that we can quickly switch between the ammo suppressed MV and the unsuppressed MV. We captured data for both and trued it as you would with the ballistic solver that you’re running but after that it’s uploaded to the scope and it’s an easy switch from one to the other. Thanks for watching and I hope you enjoy the channel! 👊
