Excellent video! I'm aware of all these you mentioned BUT 5-6 years ago when I received my first Phal. and sometime after when I decided I wanted to "step out of the box" it never occurred to me there were other types of Phals. besides the ones in the "big box" stores LOL. Beautiful and informative video, thank you for sharing!
I completely agree! When I was first starting, I thought the grocery Phals were the only type that existed and it was mindblowing to find out there was so much more variety and diversity out there! :)
Loved the video. I know of these phals however from I have heard that with the variegated phal like the one with the white to cream edging, as the orchid grows new leaves the variegated markings either thin out or disappear completely. However the blooms remains the same.
Very special phals indeed! I am hoping my sogo vivien doesn’t loose her variegation 😑 the 2nd new leaf is looking like there is still some white to it, but it’s getting thinner than the other leaves.
Oh good luck with the sogo vivien! Sometimes the variegation isn't stable and it depends on the amount of light received. But who knows if it plays out like that it in real life. I have the opposite effect, one of mine has an all yellow leaf with barely any green. lol
I picked up a mottled one from the grocery store a few days ago. Looking at the list of variegated orchids, I am fairly sure it's a Bronze Maiden. It's the first one with mottled leaves I have actually seen in person, I have wanted one for a long, long time but...*cries in no nearby nurseries*. Poor thing is dehydrated and stressed, dropping 2/3 of all the buds and the foliage is very leathery and floppy so it's not looking all that great right now. The remaining flowers are not looking great either, so I have cut them off. For now it needs to focus on getting rehydrated, then it can always bloom again later. 😄
@@AttainableGreen Perhaps I will in time. I definitely want more when I get the chance. 😄 Still it would be so satisfying to rehabilitate this one. It is being given some much needed love and attention, then the rest is up to the plant.
The care is pretty similar. The growth rate is slower and some may need more/less light depending on how much chlorophyll the leaf has. The less green it is, the more likely it may need more light but it cannot handle the heat, so it may be likely to burn in high temps.

Beautiful!😀❤️
Thanks 😊
I didn’t know about Sederia... very cute!
Yea! I think they come in different sizes too, the one in the video is the Minmaru Shima. :)
You have some beautiful Phal’s!
Thanks! I'm hoping to add a few more to my collection...eventually. There's so many to choose, it's so hard to say no :)
Attainable Green, I totally understand that lol. I’m trying not to buy anymore right now with winter coming.
Agreed! I'm getting my last orders in before it gets too cold to ship things out. :)
They're all so pretty! 😍
They are gorgeous which is why I couldn’t say no to having them in my collection 😊

Oh that’s interesting! I wonder why it fades out...and I might have to do more digging/research to understand it better 😄

I love this variegated sedirea japonica
Isn't it so cute?! It's the 'Minmaru Shima' variety :)

Oh wow, good luck rehabbing! Hopefully you’ll come across a healthy one 🤞

How about their care? Is it same as normal ones?

@@AttainableGreen Thank you
