Kurow's battle was the most heartbreaking moment in gaming I'd ever seen. He sides with Akuro because he feels he is alone in the world, and therefore, loses faith. His death was possibly the saddest thing I'd ever seen. He sacrifices himself for the sake of the world he turned against, and even decides it's for the best anyway. It was so terrible.
Believe it or not, Kurow turning his back actually did make sense. Even while he helped the people of Nippon, people still looked at him like he was a freak and didn't trust him. He felt alone because of how he felt like he was shunned -- Hell, even Chibi alienated him a bit, which is why he didn't feel like Chibi's friend. Kurow felt like he was merely a tool on the side lines for Chibi's own gain, even though that wasn't the case. Thus clarifying his betrayal, it really didn't come out of nowhere.
Kurow never even got to meet Waka, his "father" of sorts, and ask him 'why'. Sure, that's uncovered anyway, but I feel it would've been nice to see the elder elucidate the young, to see Waka explain 'why' in his own words and thus convey his own feelings on the matter. Would he feel remorse for essentially sentencing his own kid to a sacrificial death? Would he seem callous and say 'this needed to be done'? I would've liked to have seen Waka's take on this. As for Kurow being alone in the world, it's true; he's the only blonde (a very rare hair colour in ancient Japan), and his behaviour is very unlike anyone else - it's much more late 20th Century American than feudal Japanese, which would always separate Kurow from everyone else. Even when he arranged a date, the woman didn't really know him well and found it difficult to communicate with him - at least, that's how I see it. Kurow died almost completely unknown, and unless his short but nevertheless heartbreaking story is preserved by his friends, he likely will end up forgotten; a mere footnote in this Japan's history, if even that, despite the critical role he played in allowing such history to continue. Hell, even his date will eventually move on and forget about 'that strange blonde boy' because no real connection was ever set in stone between the two. Kurow is such an interesting character to add to the Ōkami world, and yet he doesn't survive all that long at all. He deserved more recognition.

He no longer has any desire to fight Akuro, going so far into the darkness he no longer accepts friends. He even says, "I am alone." You must reopen his eyes, and bring him back into the light, no matter what!
Tim Sheppard Riku knew who is friends were though. Probably the only person in the whole series who ever had doubts about his friends was roxas. Maybe ven also???

Honestly, I thought Kurow was werid (In a good way) he was one of my favorite characters (Even though all the characters in Okaimden are my favorite). I wish Kurow never died and had never gave into the darkness! He was a great company and a very funny one too! He was so carefree and cheerful! Seeing him turn to the dark side (no pun intended) broke my heart (and his death scene made me cry so hard!!!). I had a ds, and I bought it after saving up my allowance for awhile. It's a mixture of the graphics being really rough (it's a ds game, but I was young and dumb), and the story not having much emotion or impact. But then came along Kurow. Honestly Kurow brought so much character and development to the story and a legitimate relationship with Chibiterasu (that name is also why I couldn't take it seriously, it felt kind of mocking) to the point where Kuni I whole-heartedly believe shouldn't be on the box. This feels like a story and tale about Chibi and Kurow, especially with how long Kurow accompanied him and how much they went through together. Tbh it'd make the game even more emotional. How many games do you end up killing your bestfriend/partner. Imagine how more impactful it would've been had he been on the cover. Holy smokes, it's just unprecedented. I really liked at the time how Kurow's pain and anger was written. His boss theme has notes of his sadness, anguish, fury, and heart. There's just these parts of the song where you don't feel like you're fighting a monster, but just a like, decent human being who's struggling and letting out his pain. Rest in peace Kurow, you were the only good character imo in a game full of mediocre forgettable characters.
Graphics were rough? Honey Okamiden is God honest one of the best looking games on the DS, at least imo. The art style gives it more of a brushwork style and a lot less of those jagged pixils you got on most other games of the era.
DarkMagolor Okamiden should have waited until the 3ds came out, i absolutely cannot stand the 3d models on the original ds. Would have looked great on the 3ds

Kurow. My favorite Companion in the entire game. IT WAS SO HARD FOR ME TO KILL HIM. I WAS SO EMOTIONAL.
