Ayyappa, he is shiva, vishnu and shakti. He is another form of Lord Dattatreya. He has shown miracles in my life. I am not old stereotype. When i was 27 years old, I took deeksha for 3 years and the 4th year I met with an accident and my left knee injured and I could not walk. Doctors suggested for 3 months bed rest and not to ride geared vehicles. It was October and my younger brother took deeksha and on 40th day he and other swamy's started for sabarimala. On that there was pooja in the morning and I could not stop shedding tears. Just 5 mins before they start I said Guruswamy that I would go with them. And he was watching me from that morning and he couldn't say no. The very moment I walked to home and grabbed few clothes in a backpack and rushed towards them. Everyone just shocked by the incident. I walked with them, I slept on floor, I climbed to the temple hill top, had darshan multiple times. And it was 7 day trip and never felt I had a problem in the knee and I forgot I met with the accident. After returning home, doctors said injury healed to 90% and prescribed just a pain killer in case I feel pain
Ayappa is an avatar of shastha(meaning of the word in sanskrit is one who teaches you right path by "shasana" or in English word scolding ).shastha is a strict teacher,if you will.The treacherous trip is his teaching method.He has nothing to do with shakthi.Sure enough shastha accompanies devi whether laxmi,bhoomi devi..etc as brother..But that's it. dattatreya has nothing to do with shastha nor ayyappa.

The worth part of ayyappa yaathra that’s Erimeli.. it is the place where all the devotees dance , colouring them selfs. And at the end they come to take a shower in the river which passes in erimeli.. it’s nothing but drainage water !! Very very bad odd, black water it is.. Some non hindu people connected drainage water to that river and making million of ayappa devotees to take bath in that dirty water and visit shabari Mala.. kerala govt should eye on the culprits and save our pilgrims
As per Tamil one mandalam is 48 days but in Kerala 1 mandalam =41 day but on olden days 1 mandalam =56 day we have to take dhiksha not less than 41 day as per tamils not less than 48@@bodhisathvan

Only temple where devotees are called swami.only 18 steps when you reach there but each daymore than 50000 people enter the temple through these steps and reach in front of Ayyappa. Each year profit of the temple is crores.last year 130 crores for just 41 days.But now devotees are not taking vratham like olden days. But it a must you should be a brahmachari these days and should not eat any non.veg food.
Rules to be followed 1) One should bath 3 times in a day and pray to the god and should be vegetarian. 2) one should not wear footwear and any other cloths other than black. 3) you should not participate in intercourse and should sleep on floor without bed. 4). Your mind should be clean, do not lie and cheat anybody and should be non-violent. 5) Should call everyone as Swamy and everyone body will call you Swamy.
If you are wearing garlands to go to Sabarimala, don't forget that you should never go to a Muslim mosque or a Christian church; some people will make up false stories, so try not to fall for them.

Hi fellow Indian, not to start a fight but as a south indian who lived in the north India as a child I was made fun of my language, culture, skin color and what not, it made me hate my identity as a south indian , I wanted to fit in so bad with the people who constantly stereotyped me . Thank god I am back, it made me appreciate my culture and my identity. There is a regional and cultural divide between north, south , east and west part of India. It's all right if someone says that I am an north indian or north east Indian or south indian beacuse you cannot take away and put different cultural identity into one box . But you should clean yourself daily 5) follow this for 41 days 6) get a mala with tulsi or rudraksha beeds with ayappa locket. 7) apply vibhuti or chandan 8) and you should know that practices are a combination of shiva and vishnava

Who told you so? Vavar has nothing to do with Ayyappa, a God concept from time immemorial, whereas, Islam is 1400 years old only! This 'relationship' between Ayyappa and Vavar is a latter day invention by some vested interests. If ever you happen to visit the Vavar mosque, you will find there, written big in black marble, the Koranic inscription that Allah alone deserves to be worshipped, to the exclusion of all others!
Now imagine, one who considers Ayyappa as God, observing 41 days of rigorous vrata, visiting another shrine, paying obeisance there, making offerings, only to be told to his face that he is worshipping the 'wrong' God! This then is the folly of visiting Vavar mosque!

@@sgblr1644 well yes . Actually the rush in Sabarimala is nowadays also due to the fact that the pilgrimage has become very easy going and lax . People go there as if on vacation. For most malayalis, the vrat is confined to just a vegetarian diet .. but the actual vrat is much more difficult

Hi fellow Indian, not to start a fight but as a south indian who lived in the north India as a child I was made fun of my language, culture, skin color and what not, it made me hate my identity as a south indian , I wanted to fit in so bad with the people who constantly stereotyped me . Thank god I am back, it made me appreciate my culture and my identity.
There is a regional and cultural divide between north, south , east and west part of India. It's all right if someone says that I am an north indian or north east Indian or south indian beacuse you cannot take away and put different cultural identity into one box .
Respect all the different cultures let them flaunt their identity. Remember unity in diversity, have faith in Indian constitution.

1) eat only swatik food
2) wear black ,yellow , saffron or dark blue dress
3) if possible walk without sandals
4) dont cut nails and body hair. But you should clean yourself daily
5) follow this for 41 days
6) get a mala with tulsi or rudraksha beeds with ayappa locket.
7) apply vibhuti or chandan
8) and you should know that practices are a combination of shiva and vishnava
