I'm not even sure what is worse: The fact that those kids were the gateway to all of this craziness happening, or how accurate of a representation this was of the common youth nowadays.
Yeah. I'm going to re-upload that at some point because of a script repair. In fact, I'm probably going to just upload Shizune's entire route except for the bad end.
Well, if he was having phantom visions, he could have easily hallucinated something and fallen over on something that would break his neck, or something. It's Hisao Nakai, you can never count out his clumsiness.
Holy bear, this is so dark. But I think they should preserve this version as another version. It's not everyone's cup of tea indeed. But i think it is nice to have 2 separate versions, dark version and final version. Is this version still available to download? I want to play this version.
No. Just no. I had to stop the video in the middle of watching it and just go watch and replay through the good ending for Hanako in the finished version of the game just to finish the video...
Not as bad as I was expecting, but still very much heart wrenching and frightening... This bad ending was clearly removed because you would have to be retarded to choose "go see Hanako" I mean seriously... Hisao was practicality asking for that to happen. Also very out of character for Lilly to actually think that was a good idea.
Yeah, I think at this point Lilly and Hanako's writers were not coordinating at all. Lilly seemed like a total puppet in this, just going with everything. This is kind of understandable though since both Lilly and Hanako's route scripts were broken and unfinished. Actually, Lilly's still is. At any rate, it is a very stupid choice. It's basically the "Comfort Misha, Refuse" of Hanako's route.
Just watched the 2nd bad ending and that was... oddly haunting. I say that because it feels like it is actually within Hanako's character (mixed with the right medication) to do that. I've not watched the 3rd video yet to see exactly how it got to that point though, now about to.
to be fair, some people like myself thought "comfort" meant just actually comforting a _friend_ in distress, a hug at maximum. thought one way to get in shiz´s good books was being a good friend to her friend. (=~if you wanna be my lover you got to get with my friends~ /c/ spice girls 90s) the cheating sex he decided to do came as a total surprise behind the trees so it wasn't that stupid to choose it, one could be tricked to choose it.
hey, could you tell me the name of the song that starts playing at about eight minutes in (if you know it)? sorry for asking such a stupid question, but i really like it. thanks for uploading these, by the way!
They removed it because a yandere Hanako came out of nowhere, had no buildup to it, and was completely unnecessary. As much as I love psychotic anime girls, Hanako really wasn't fit to be one.
I understand where you're coming from and it does make a lot of sense. I think crazy tandere Hanako and Emotionless Hanako were both too quickly introduced, but at least emotionless Hanako had a failback "It was the pills" I think Ending 3 was also done really well, but taking in account your comment, I can understand why it wasn't in the final game. Still a little sad tho D:
Ending three was actually the only good one that had some amount of buildup. Assuming it was the pills and not just the fact that anyone would be traumatized from their house burning down as a child, being bullied in school for scars that can't be helped, and seeing their best friend have a heart attack, it was actually well done. It was extremely depressing, but that's what it was supposed to be. Hisao spirals out of control because of the entire buildup of hate he has for not being able to do anything for Hanako other than "Be there for her," which actually did buildup in the entire saga, not just the bad endings. When being there for Hanako meant nothing for her, he could only do what he thought was best. I guess you could say Hisao lost more of his mind than Hanako. That's the real charm of the beta endings in comparison to their finals: It actually focuses on Hisao AND the girl he is with, not just the girl. Another good detail about Hanako's third bad ending is how even Lilly didn't know what to do beyond that point. She wanted to go with the safe approach and all, but her motherly nature towards Hanako sort of crashed in on itself when Hanako could barely acknowledge her (and Hisao's) existence. It was very well done.
I completely agree to that. Hisao's rage when he finally decided to throw away Hanako's Anti-depressants (I assume) was like the ONLY relatable thing that he's done. I personally enjoyed the game but I have a lot of friends who quit halfway thru because they said that Hisao wasn't relatable half the time and they got frustrated at him and was yelling at screens for 20 minutes. I feel like Ending 3 was one of the more "natural fit" endings just like the real bad ending in the final game. I mean you can sort of see it coming so the build-up is definitely there. I really liked that first bad end tho, I think if they introduced crazy yandere Hanako on her birthday or something, they could definitely fit in that first kind of ending unless I'm getting my orders wrong and her birthday does happen in act 4. I think Lilly just got completely fucked over when she found out things about Hanako that even she didn't know. She was like "Are we really friends?" and just didn't know what to do after that. Hanako's "Bitch, have sex with me" test was kind of heartbreaking because either way, it ends badly. Hisao ends up getting fucked no matter what he does and KNOWING that during the game you have to play thru all of the bad endings (At least I think so) just to get that one good ending for her is just heartbreaking. When things are finally turning up in ending 3 and I'm like "Shit, he did someone useful for once" my reasoning finally comes back and I just think "oh god, there's 2 minutes left and it's going so well... how can this end badly?" #ClassicalJapaneseSchoolGirlTrainSuicide T.T
The thing is, Hisao missed a great opportunity to actually comfort (as in actual comfort, not comfort-Misha) Hanako when she was about to leave the room. She finally gets a round of emotion (even if it was nothing but sorrow) and he just lets her leave. That was when he should have interfered, but instead he lets her be by herself. I'm all for the whole "Don't white-knight Hanako" stuff, but there comes a time when you NEED to let someone know you can help them and that you are actually there for them. He didn't actually do that once, even when Hanako was crying against the scars of his chest. The only thing he ever did (verbally) is tell her that nothing was her fault. What it really boiled down to was the fact that Hisao never told her that he loved her and that he cherished her existence, or something else that would make her feel like she belonged. However, the pill sequence was definitely something you could relate to, and that made it a very great scene. I just wish you could have had one final choice of wording that would truly determine if you get the good ending or bad ending three. The "Hanatrue" route's ending is very heartfelt and all, but the wounds that had never quite healed still linger.
I just read her bad endings last night, hours ago. Dear God, they are... severe. I actually hadn't read anyone's bad endings at all before, even in the final release, so this hit me even harder than it might have. And if there had been music and visuals... I'd like not to think about that. *Shudders*. But, actually, I have to ask about that. The version in this video has music, but if I read through the same parts in the build that I downloaded from the steamcommunity page only recently, there is no music. In fact, there's no music at all in the bad endings, except for a music box version of Painful History in the scene that flashes back to the fire. Do you have a version that's further along with music because you're involved in the project? Or is mine outdated? Or maybe there's another problem.
Mine is different because I know how to modify the game. I had it play music at certain points in order to make it slightly more... well, invoking of "feels." I did do work on Hanako's route before I got on the team, but then my hard drive exploded, so I lost all that incomplete work. I didn't have the motivation to add any visuals, so I guess that is good for you. :P
I wish the Hanatrue ending was in the final game... but not this. Oh god, what kind of twisted... GENIUS... but twisted writers came up with this?! ;_; Doesn't matter, Hanako is still my fav
Call me weird, but I actually find this bad end written extremely well and fitting overall, filling a lot of voids that were left out and/or GREATLY tamed/subdued/completely cut in the final release. It's a bit of a shame 4LS pussied out on doing ACTUAL bad ends (probably because the West isn't Japan, thank you political and moral correctness, not!). What's there in the final release is very lackluster and left me felling nothing, basically. That's not how bad ends are supposed to be. THIS right here is how bad ends should be written - and they did a great job at it, at least for this one (I'm not buying the yandere Hanako though, but this ending here is perfectly plausible). It's not a huge problem to write a satisfying and plausible good or neutral end. It is very hard to do the same for bad ends. And this was done brilliantly, shame it's not in the canon. It is justified on so many levels.
I'm sure there are other visual novels out there that take things to the extreme when the relationship goes sour, which can be done. However, here it is just weird. Hanako clawing her eyes out just sounds like it was ripped out of a cartoon with how goofy it is. That being said, there are a lot of interesting things about Hanako shown in this version not involving insanity out of left-field.
Exactly, a LOT of interesting stuff was revealed that just isn't there in the canon - which makes Hanako not as impactful character as I had hoped her to be. IMHO, at least. Perhaps clawing her eyes out was a bit much, but considering she was not in her right mind, what with medication and stuff, I find it a plausible possibility, not goofy.
the current bad ending is sad enough, if i keep watching this i might be the one getting a heart attack
Might want to watch the Hanatrue/Good ending for her, then.
I run a Katawa Shoujo blog on Tumblr. And all I'm sayin is if KS turned out like THIS, it would have a completely different mood than it does now lol
Suzu Suzuki No doubt Hanako would have a much smaller fanbase.
Welp. I won't be going to class tomorrow.
At 7:54 I nearly lost my shit. For those of you who know what it feels like to have your heart "sink," that's what happened to me. Holy shit.
I'm not even sure what is worse: The fact that those kids were the gateway to all of this craziness happening, or how accurate of a representation this was of the common youth nowadays.
oh god, it's been such a long time.
Yeah. I'm going to re-upload that at some point because of a script repair. In fact, I'm probably going to just upload Shizune's entire route except for the bad end.
Wow, that shit was just fucked up.
This takes grimdark to a whole new level..
Kinda reminds me of Michiru and Makina's ending in Grisaia
Well, if he was having phantom visions, he could have easily hallucinated something and fallen over on something that would break his neck, or something.
It's Hisao Nakai, you can never count out his clumsiness.
No problem. It's uploaded now.
It's the beta version of "Moment of Decision." I can it upload it to TH-cam if you want.
Holy bear, this is so dark. But I think they should preserve this version as another version. It's not everyone's cup of tea indeed. But i think it is nice to have 2 separate versions, dark version and final version. Is this version still available to download? I want to play this version.
That was....really fucking intense.
It truly is...the only thing that's more depressing that I've seen of the beta is Misha's end...but it's still pretty dark.
No. Just no. I had to stop the video in the middle of watching it and just go watch and replay through the good ending for Hanako in the finished version of the game just to finish the video...
This is really the only thing one can say about this.
that truly did come out of nowhere I mean who doesn't love Yandere, but it just doesn't fit, glad it got removed.
that would be great! thank you very much!
Not as bad as I was expecting, but still very much heart wrenching and frightening... Yeah. It was probably the most messed up ending in the entire beta.

This...oh my god.
Wtf, I loved this ending this should have been in the final release if possible :P I don't know why they removed it

Ah, okay, thanks for clearing that up. And for your work on this.
Randall Munroe
Eh, I haven't really done much yet. But you're welcome.
To paraphrase AVGN, how about full fucking screen?!?
Didn't have anything to record full screen at the time.
Holy... shit.
I wish the Hanatrue ending was in the final game... but not this. Oh god, what kind of twisted... GENIUS... but twisted writers came up with this?! ;_; Doesn't matter, Hanako is still my fav
is Lily still blind in the beta? is it possible to take notes in braille?
Yes, she's still blind. There are braille textbooks in Yamaku. I'm not entirely sure how notes would work for a blind person.
Holy fuck
Oh god I wish these were in the game. Not so much the Yandere ending though.
nope nope nope
Wat.
O__O

It reads she "clawing at her eyelids." Quite a difference to "clawing her eyes out". But yeah, it was disturbing, as the whole scene was.
