Honestly, it feels like the main characters are being taught to think a certain way by the Notepad, and this certain way of thinking leads to bad stuff happening in the finale of the short. Still, it's still effective stuff that delivers the message of how "Kids TV teaches our Children to think in a certain way, rather than letting them think for themselves", even after Eleven Years. In the wake of the EXCELLENT TV Reboot (no joke, I've seen four episodes out of six, and I can safely say Don't Hug Me I'm Scared TV is the best thing to happen to British Telly in fucking years!) It's so fun to come back to where it all began and see how a Notepad taught Red, Yellow and Duck to think a certain way and cause them to go utterly insane and sinister, even if for a brief moment.

God I still remember the first time I saw this video. I was in 5th grade, and our class had a show and tell thing where we could share TH-cam videos we found online (it was a different time). I remember this seemingly like an innocent Sesame Street style video and I, and everyone in the class was wondering "Who shared this?", "Why is this so weird?", "... Why is the title called 'Don't Hug Me I'm Scared'???", and then I remember feeling terrified by the end while my teacher just laughed. A lot of us had then hyperfixated on the video ever since, and became huge fans when more were uploaded. I love telling this story to people because they're usually like "How tf did your class allow that?". I look at this fondly rather than traumatized. To this day, I still don't recall who shared it for our class lol.
Randomly remembered this series the other day. Now that I’m nearly 30 wanted to come back and get a different interpretation of these than I had at 20. Glad to see the comment section still alive and well.

In case you didn't hear me the first time
God I still remember the first time I saw this video. I was in 5th grade, and our class had a show and tell thing where we could share TH-cam videos we found online (it was a different time). I remember this seemingly like an innocent Sesame Street style video and I, and everyone in the class was wondering "Who shared this?", "Why is this so weird?", "... Why is the title called 'Don't Hug Me I'm Scared'???", and then I remember feeling terrified by the end while my teacher just laughed.
A lot of us had then hyperfixated on the video ever since, and became huge fans when more were uploaded. I love telling this story to people because they're usually like "How tf did your class allow that?". I look at this fondly rather than traumatized. To this day, I still don't recall who shared it for our class lol.
