Hi - very interested in what you have done, would very much appreciate it if you could share the circuit for the connections to the scales via the teensy / Pi. I have some old Heidenhain scales and would like to connect to a pi-based "modern" Dro display. Thanks, Jim.

way cool! Love the gauge! Very clever implementation.. I think this would have marketable possibilities. Thanks for sharing.. Subscribed, hoping for more cool videos!

Thanks for the kind works - comments like your encourages me to do more. And yeah, I've got two more Raspberry Pi projects coming. Stay tuned.

Hi - quick question, what is the pi GUI written in please??

Everything is written in Python plus Kivy. Kivy does all the GUI stuff and is super powerful.

Thanks Jim - I am retired and rebuilding a Jones and Shipman 540 (I'm in the UK), so when I saw your project I was intrigued. I am working to use a couple of Heidenhain scales I have by interfacing them through a Sin/Cos-to-digital convertor from iC-Haus with a Teensy through to a Pi or Touch DRO. I have a Pi with touch screen so at the moment am looking to go that way --- please would you be so kind as to share your source code for the teensy and the Pi - I will of course share back anything I do. Regards, Jim Edwards (ex Rolls Royce & IBM)

@@jamesedwards9036 Jim, sorry for the slow response - I'm not good at the whole TH-cam thing. I'm also sorry to say I never did anything further with this project. In fact, I don't even have the grinder anymore. I did find the Python / Kivy source code. Your welcome to it - not much there I'm afraid. However, the big gauge does work nice. Not sure why something like this was never developed by anyone. Send me your email and I'll send you a zip file back. Just don't expect much.

What is the 'other' board on the breadboard next to the Teensy?

It’s a level shifter. I think a RS422. I’ll check tomorrow when I’m in the shop and let you know. Thanks for the interest.

@@705cnc Maybe a 74LVC245? Or maybe the TXS0108E? Very grand project!

Goodness sakes alive! I'm now on another quest!! Arduino worked to a point... I gave up and did not pursue Raspberry Pi so I'm from another project to Raspberry Pi. Thanks very much 705 CNC but you need to go into some help with this... Is this a tease?
