Regardless who you’d pick, Pat Cummins would be absolutely wasted in the English system. They would have coached his bowling into something unrecognisable. He’d probably be bowling barely mid 130s max by now if they hadn’t already run him into the ground.
If you watch Cummins bowl , he bowls 138-140 kph and is not express quick
He just hits an awkward length and it skids which is why he appears quicker than he is
In England , that length is not good. He’d have been made to bowl slower for
More movement (and wickets) like Broad had to slow down
It’s just a consequence of different environments. No one right way
Very good comment
@@sachinpaul2111there is a correct length in international cricket. Most international bowling is around your hip and meant to be awkward.
Absolute rubish, ! he would bowl legally in the English system so he would be less efective for that so onnly regulation bouncers per over not what he gets away with and the no balls in consistantly bowls would all be called. He would likely be faster though. And able to swing it both ways. So under the English system he would be one of the all time greats. Where as now he should have an * next to his name as should any aussie that has been in a SMith team.

Stokes is a moments player, he’s never had any kind of consistency. Cummins is a steady operator who is very consistent, but doesn’t have the iconic moments. Plus one’s an all-rounder and the other’s a pure bowler. The only real place of comparison would be captaincy, and again the styles are so different it’s difficult to compare properly. I’ve personally never been impressed by Cummins as a captain, or as a T20 bowler, but Stokes frustrates the life out of me as an England fan.
Cummins is a better t20 bowler than odis
@@Aman-nk5uq Test Cricket is the only format where he’s actually elite. The 2 white-ball formats are a big drop off in levels for him.

@@SWJ_ i couldnt care less if he doesnt take another ODI Wicket, what he did against india in the final last year is more than enough and more meaningful that taking a bunch of wickets in meaningless bilateral series
@@TwoFourFourFour - Agree. Imagine in one year beating India in a Test Final and an ODI final, both outside Australia, on flat pitches. And they didn't just win, they absolutely dominated. Cummins bowled the decisive spell in the WCO ODI Final. Ten overs to get 2-34 is mind blowing. He may have even effectively ended one or two careers, or scarred them for life. Shreyas Iyer - I am thinking of you.
Impossible question. Which is better would depend entirely on the other 10 players in the side, who, and where you were playing.
Cummins for me, a fast bowler as penetrative as he is worth his weight in gold. He consistently gets top order batsmen cheaply, as well as being economical & being a more than useful batsman. Stokes can absolutely turn a match with his batting, but simply isn't consistent enough. And he is no more than a stock bowler. I watched Botham, Hadlee, Imran & Kapil Dev in their prime & he isn't in their league. They're both excellent captains.
stokes has turned matches with his bowling
even as an englishman i would say Cummins, But there's no need to put down Stokes. Both are brilliant cricketers
How do you win a test match ? 20 wickets
You pick Cummins all day
Kallis is easily the second best player of all time, he batted like batsman and bowled like a front line bowler
I believe that honor goes to Sobers as he was just a little better in all departments. Kallis bowled to contain and his numbers are excellent. Sobers took more wickets per test and was the more penetrative bowler. He could also bowl quick (opening the bowling) or spin (wrist or SLA), which made him more valuable as a bowler.

Stokes averages 35 with the bat and less than 2 wickets per test. He is a liability with bat and ball in T20. Capable of memorable moments but a hugely overrated player overall. The comparison is insulting to Cummins.
By that comparison Cummins averages only 17.03 with the bat.
Plus, Cummins is in a world class team which makes him play under less pressure while Stokes was in a fairly mediocre team in Tests until like about when McCullum took over.
Put Stokes in Australia and Cummins in England and you'd see the difference. Stokes would be a God and Cummins would regress.

Way better than your Jadeja
@@gokuvegeta9500but how please explain.
@@gokuvegeta9500Cummins plays in a world class team which makes him play under less pressure.???
Please enlighten us all as to how you have determined this?
I’ll tell you one thing that I know for sure and that is that every Australian cricket team plays with a much higher expectation than any English team does.
Just ask the public in both countries as to what they expect from their respective teams.
The pressure to perform and succeed is always greater on the team that has higher expectations placed on it.
Stokes is a Test chad, nothing against him but he doesn't have an impressive stats/match winning performances as a batting allrounder in ODI/T20 (please🙏🏻 don't tell me about the WC19 win, you know what happened there as ICC rule book won it and I have no issues whatsoever).
However, Pat is an excellent bowler can bat a little bit with an excellent cricket brain. He performs in both Test & ODI but he too has some trouble with T20, so for me a guy who can play 2 formats is the greater than the guy who is excellent in 1 format... Its just my opinion anyone can disagree✌🏻
Cummins every time. Stokes could be a better leader but is inflexible and struggles to change tactics if they aren’t working. Cummins quietly manages his team better and doesn’t let his ego get in the way.
Isn't stokes a better cricketer just by matchematics,Cummins averages 22 with the ball stokes 31 difference of 9,stokes averages 35 with the bat Cummins 15 difference of 20 ,so overall just by sheer logic stokes is a better cricketer, stokes is also a better fielder
But Cummins averages 4.3 wickets per test and stokes less than 2. A better way to mathematically measure Cummins value to the team over stokes with the ball would be (Cummins ave - stokes ave) x (Cummins w/test / stokes w/test) = about 21.5 runs difference……
Yes, I have too much time on my hands.
Depends on so much, including the pitch. If you need a fourth seam option, then Stokes would be wonderful number 6 batsmen and 4th seam option.
Stokes v Flintoff would be a more reasonable comparison.
1:34 - This is the reason I love Jarrod Kimber😂...
This was a weird conversation centered around a rather strange comparison. Why compare a bowler to an all-rounder? A better comparision would have been Stokes vs Jadeja. Maybe that could be the topic for the next podcast.
Yeah or Stokes vs Cameron Green is an even better comparison cause Jadeja is a spinner.

Right now cummins.
Overall their career so far stokes
Cummins could never do what Stokes has done with the bat in a million years.
Therein lies the answer to the question.
And nobody could ever imagine Stokes averaging over 4 wickets per Test at 22 either.
Stokes is the most overrated cricketer in history. Has been kissed on the penis and got lucky with bat deflections and umpiring mistakes a couple of times like in the 2019 WC Final and Headingly test, but you forget all the other games where hes been mediocre. Stokes has the better highlights, but cummins is much more consistent.
Good player yes, but no where near the likes of even ashwin or jadeja for example.
didnt cummins nearly do what stokes did at headingly?
He won a Test at Edgbaston in 2023 with the bat - and Stokes was captain and available to bowl.
I like David Lloyd, but he's far too biased.
I say both are champions but stokes gave england some wins from almost impossible situation
So hyped more
As cricketer point of view it's always pat Cummins
The best of Ben Stokes is better than the best of Pat Cummins however you get the best of Ben Stokes maybe once a year, you get the best of Cummins multiple times a series so as a cricketer I'm taking Cummins. Captaincy isn't close, Stokes is a natural leader, Cummins isn't and Stokes has surprised me with his tactical accumen.
Stokes will win you a test or two, with some brilliance. Cummins will win you a series with ruthless constancy
Cummins is far more consistent,13 dud tests out of 62(21%). Stokes has 33 duds out of 106(31%) even with his allrounder status.Since 2021,Stokes has been in decline,39 tests,2118 runs@ 31.18,45 wickets @ 35.04.

I've said this many times, Stokes is a very overrated cricketer in the age of highest social media penetration. Kallis and Flintoff are a different breed.
