I have been following this guys for 3 years, I love you guys ,,big up for you guys team ki forever,,,,I from zambia oss!
Fantastic video. Really like the exercise of kicking over the belt (between two chairs) as I can see how this would force you to ensure proper technique.
You guys ROCK..!! NEW Sub here. OMG...ain't seen the belt tween chairs drill in 30 frickin yrs. !!!! What a flashback !! Awesome. And ain't seen ANYBODY teach 4 count slow kicks (fast in this case) . But THAT is how I was taught every kick. 4 count slow.. then speed up.. then on a balance beam or a post in ground !! Yea.. had GREAT balance back in da day !! Lol.. as the book says.."That was then, this is now.." lol. Great Jon guys
Congratulations guys! Through a cheerful, healthy attitude, you manage to transmit the essence of karate as very few succeed. Continue good work and greetings from Romania!
Turning on the standing foot might feel stronger to people who have less hip flexibility and weak/tight hamstrings. However it should be clear that for a powerful forward trust, the alignment should be forward. Having the standing leg sideways also makes you lean back in a way that it sacrifices power and stability.
Thank you for explaining. I was wondering about this. These videos are great for instruction but not so much for explanation!
This channel is my favourite channel of all, thank you so much for every single video!! You are helping me very much. Love ya!
Hey TEAM KI, wir bereiten uns auf den 1.DAN vor und eure Videos sind eine super Hilfe!! mille grazil !!
I am not completely in agreement with the support foot staying straight... regardless, a great video for fundamental development. You two are inspirational for all martial artist. Thank you for your diligent work!
Its risk vs power

I like these two.. funny, smart but also extremely hard to fault in any way… one day I will be this sharp.. ( we can all dream 💭 ) 😊
Very nice!! I love mae-geri! ✌
Hi teamki!! I have taken karate up, i am a judo guy and i have also some japanese jujutsu trainning. You said mae geri’s technique don’t have to move your standing foot, but i see both of you moving and twisting the standing foot a little in the explanation and performing kata much more. Don’t know if it is because of the speed you have to perform katas and at the moment of kicking you have to twist your standing foot fast to do the next stand form, i am confused 🤷♂️ 😐. Great channel and please teach us more karate lessons 😊.
Great tutorial
Great! Thanks for the video 👍🏻
Cool work sir ✋👏
Love It!!!
Awesome channel! Very helpful. Thanks!
One thing I know about this kick. You better keep that hamstring stretched. I ripped my ham string doing front snap kick in Kangku Dai right before competition. I had been sitting judging for too long. I had warmed up before I judged. And didn’t stretch enough before my competition. I still won grand champion that day. But all I could do was a reverse punch. COULDNT KICK AT ALL. I even had to change Kata. From Kangku Dai to Basi Dai. To many high kicks in Kangku Dai. Which is my Black Belt Kata. We use to do Maegeri over the back of a chair. Stretch, Stretch,Stretch.
Hello Friends, what is the concept to do the Mae Geri, using first the Heel against the butt? I train the same but why other karatekas only rise the knee withouth the heel first kicking against the "butt"?
hugs
Great opener has range and can be used to unlock well
Великолепная техника,хотелось бы посмотреть йоко гери в вашем исполнении.
2:17 Probably not the best example of what you were explaining ;)
But loved the video, OSS!
That's kata of karate
Why did you move your standing foot during the kata performance after asking not to do it?
Is good tutorial Mae gueri, the best in you tube, thanks
I'm sorry, but may i give correction especially for the shotokan guy? For the basic i suggest you to minimize front knee movement. Mae geri technique is to deliver your body weight to the front. If your front knee moves (usually upside), the power delivered will decrease, so the effectiveness. When you want to mae geri push your front knee forward. Correct me if i'm wrong. Thank you 🙏
Great sensei
Um abraço para vocês,falo do Brasil e faço karatê shotokan, abraços
🇧🇷🇧🇷
thank you. Wonderful.!!!
Thank you. It`s very good .
I love your videos bro
My mae geri kick, my toes went thru his stomach and it reached all the way to his spine, it's a very effective weapon.

I have a question: where did you buy the mattresses?
Thank you, this is nice to hear. We will also try our best to improve. Regarding your question of the tatami, these are judo tatamis.
Guys you do great job with these video's! Big respekt! Osu!
you both are awesome
Very nice video like all of them. Please the music name?
Really loving this channel 😊 Oss
Great!
Nice tutorial! Thanx!
Interesting approach. Quite different from Muay Thai teep.
exactly good
Great.
Thank you very much!!👍
Thankyou!
One of the most dangerous kicks if it lands, I think it’s down the digging effect
I like your technique, those were usual technique in Mae Geri/front kick............but, if I cud make suggestion, may be better if you buckling your front feet about 30 - 45 your become relax than before. Also your kicking wl be faster since your muscle move naturally........hope above mention useful and sorry for our suggestion......
That bing me good memories, when I was practicing...
Good job , thanks
Amazing
Nice👍
Awesome
such nice people
I like it .
Wow so beautiful
Sensei ,when we do a mai geri ,if we twist the leg on the floor shall we get an extension of two inches to the target?what you say?
Good 👍
Thank you
I like this vídeo, anda boys wonderfol
I like it
Gracias
Is this a kick to the groin?
oss good training
Se que en gedan barai con esta patada debe ser así, pero en kung fu o en el karate deportivo debe haber el movimiento de pie y de cadera para que la patada tenga mayor fuerza e impacto
EMPI VERY GOOD AND JION ,DANKE,ICH BEDANKE MICH
Good correction thank you Sensei OSS
Hi guys, very interesting. Can I ask why you don't want to turn on the standing foot?
I was curious as well. I do not take Karate, but in Taekwondo, we pivot the supporting foot about 30 degrees which I believe is to apply a forward hip movement with the actual kick. Still training and learning!
Not from this channel, but we don't turn the foot either in our dojo. It is because we roll into the front hip. Imagine ou are left foot forward. As you kick you close the left hip and form a strong platform for the kick by not moving the front foot. If you move the front foot you open the left hip, and loose the strong platform.
Difficult to explain in words, but it is basically to "lock in" the centre when the knee is raised, and to maintain that lock during the kick. Hope that (sort of) explains it.
@@somebloke13 I do find Taekwondo's technique more logical
And if you noticed at the end of the video, they did move their standing foot during tournament.
Because in real life, if the enemy blocks your kick, you will use the heel to "slide" back to position with balance. Once you turn the standing foot, you could hurt your own ankle
Hey guys! Love your videos, do you have one on kekomi geri? My sensei says this needs improvement so I'm looking for some help from you
thanks for your videos. let me axe you aquestion, regarding the back, should it always be straight, i noticed you went backwards at 0:40
Double Trouble when you do mae Geri you also use your hip to kick stronger. Therefore your back gets a little bit Backwards
Sensei, for a white belt like I am now; aside from the correct foot positioning. Does the height of the kicking foot matter most?
Kurenai Warwolf Wataru no the most important Point is the correct execution of Mae Geri. If you are actual just able to kick gedan or chudan it‘s ok. When you Train correct and constant you Will Be able to kick higher in the end. One mistake of many Karateka is that they try to kick high but execute the geri wrong and uncontrolled. We hope this answer helps you a Bit. Your Team KI
TEAM KI Thank you sensei.
That definitely cleared things up for me.
master when you decide to show ushiro ura mawashi Geri?
