As usual, I am hugely impressed by the amount of effort you/your dwarves put into creating scenarios like this. Every time I feel like I've got enough needs met that I can start a big project I get halfway through and realize everyone is full of anger because I forgot to have someone make mugs or something and the spiral begins.

Can you try some dwarvern experiments to test the limits of their survival? I made a young and healthy dwarf lock themselves in a room with a lever. They had no food, no water, no socializing, and no sleep. They went insane about 5 months in and died of dehydration about 10 months in.

Where did you get the caged elf? Did they show up with a human or goblin siege? This vid was amazing. In theory, for those deserving if a prize, you could use DFHack forceequip to equip a lucky winner with a prize before setting them free and letting them run off the map.

For some reason one of the human sieges was like 50/50 elves/humans and so I picked up 1 from that. Also, that's a good idea! It's too bad they all got disqualified and I don't get to give away any of my adamantine

@@hoodiehair I think conquered sites play into those sieges but I'm not sure. One time I had a fort near a lot of goblin-conquered dwarf sites, and the goblin sieges tended to have a lot of dwarf recruits mixed in. I guess loyalty to the home matters more than loyalty to the civ for a lot of units. I wonder if any were related to my fort's citizens?
