Probably a bit late to come with suggestions, but you could totally keep the older bridges between the layers that were submerged, but enclose them in glass, so that your dwarves could still walk from side to side, and look around inside the "fishbowl"
I am obsessed with waterfall forts. Usually I attempt to make a dining hall or similar under the waterfall that's full of mist. I lose a lot of dwarves. The fishbowl idea is absolute genius!
Well, in hindsight it's at least easy enough to make a waterfall safe. Either by building walls left and right where the waterlevel drops or simply a bridge across. Fun idea, may be worth a try for myself one day.
A fortress like this doesn't seem quite feature complete without a ravine spanning walkway of courage (filled with stonefall traps) to welcome visitors and invaders. I'm tempted to give it a try, I think I've seen similar ravines in most of the worlds I've generated.
really cool fortress!!!! i always struggle to build small but interesting forts - im too lazy to build and place expensive furniture so my go to for guildhalls, nobility rooms etc is to make them huge - so its really cool to see what you could do with a small amount of space on either side. also is there a reason you use ramps rather than a single stairwell?
No idea if this works. But if you can’t fill the ravine with fish, how about zombies? The bodies are already down there so just get a necromancer for a truly traumatizing fishbowl.
The pre-flood fortress is one of the most "fantastical" I've ever seen. It looks like something out of dinotopia.
The moment I saw the bridges, I knew this was going to be a good Fort.

Booted up DF just to make my own version of this fortress
I really love this sort of concept. Some sort of fort, city, or some other settlement that sprawls across both sides of a ravine.
Really cool fortress

This is a concept that I've wanted to do in some game since long before I even knew what dwarf fortress was, and you knocked it out of the water!
You're one of my favorite creators, your videos are such a comfort for a reason I can't quite put my finger on, thank you for sharing your stories!!
Hoodie hair just slays. Probably the best DF TH-cam creator out there.

Woah such a unique base design!
Your videos are such a treat ! Thank you for creating dwarf fortress content the way you do !
Hoodie, your channel is truly the MTV cribs of Dwarf Fortress
You basically have a giant aquarium splitting your fort into two, it's amazing
Seems like a nice place to live if you can ignore all the skeletons at the bottom.
You make really great content. Thank you.
Locating waterfalls is surprisingly hard for me to do.
What a cool fortress.
ive just found your channel and just watched the hermit one, i LOVED your whole vibe
very very VEEERRRYYYY underrated content.
I love your ideas. It always inspires me to come back to the game :D
very cool, thanks for sharing!
i love your channel please keep making videos
yes yes yes your videos are my favorite recently especially coming into df scene on yt
Pretty awesome fortress :D
Hoodie Fort!
Very nice fort, wow!!
Operation Fishbowl is pretty fun. I love playing around with canyons. 🙂👍
Nice one cozy fort! Always have this fortress idea, but without "fishbowl" part. My dream fortress is Fortress from HoMM5. Maybe some day, maybe
Actually using bridges as bridges. Huh, I never would have thought..
This is awesome
That is so ducking cool
only five minutes but amazing nonetheless, you've inspired my next fort
really cool fortress!!!!

Smoothing and engravinh the walls reaply helps with value as well
If only there was a way to animate fish skeletons that could then swim around.....

Zombie fish would be pretty cool
How did you place the floodgates in the water at the bottom?
How did you get a 3d render of the fortress? i luv your DF videos soo much
Cutie doing it again
I wanted to do something similar once. Never figured out how to build floodgates in water :(
If you settle somewhere where the river freezes in the winter you can dig up the ice!
@@hoodiehair Sadly my river was not the freezing-over kind :D
Hey ! What are the mods you're using ?
Just DFHack! I haven't really looked through the workshop for mods yet.
Operation Fishbowl haha 😂
