    First off, maaaaan. What a tedious job this was, just finished it (took about 4 hours). Mind you, I still recommend people trying this out because it was eye opening and you learn a lot about your bike. For the longest time, I couldn’t get those hex bolts out with the wrench because I didn’t have the right size, until I remembered that my monster came with its own tool bag (under the seat) that has every tool in it you need to work on the bike. Also, your tutorial was awesome man. I used it to replace the battery and you brought up everything perfectly. That one side plug that you mention behind the frame, I couldn’t find it before prying off the tank , but as soon as I attempted to pry it off, I saw it. I don’t think you need to remove it but I did just in case. Really easy to spot. Thanks again for making this.

    I actually did this and it worked like a charm. Just prop up the tank with a piece of wood. Its a bit precarious, but it works and is better than disconnecting all the tank lines and removing all the vent hoses. Took me 1 hour. And I work real slow.

    Thanks for video, it saved me an expensive trip to the dealership to get the battery swapped. Although not difficult, it was tedious work for something that should have been as easy as removing a seat. I love Italian aesthetics, but miss Japanese engineering.

    I just followed the same exact directions to install my Adaptiv TPX Radar detector on my 2009 Monster 696. Thanks for the video. It was pretty simple as long as you have patience.

    Ut Tang, I know you no longer have this bike, but thank you for such a fantastic video. I did it perfectly with no problems ( helped me fit a trickle charger ). Funny thing too, it already has one but was so well hidden I didn’t see it ha-ha. Oh well I had fun.

    Great video. I have to replace my battery on my 796 and wondered where it is located. I have only had the bike for a few days now. Quite the process for sure compared to my other bikes.

    Thanks much for the video man. That was very very useful - had a dead battery in my Monster 1100s. Identical set up, but still took about a couple hours. But I would have never figured it out without this though. Just an intricate piece of engineering - just to get to the battery.

    you don't have to remove the breather hoses or cover, just disconnect the hoses at the vent nipples on the tank and move entire tank to a table / surface on side of bike, you don't need to disconnect the fuel lines either they will stretch / move

    Wow so I just did this entire routine. Only it was to replace the fuse in the pig tail. :(
    Oh well at least now know how to do this in the future if I need to replace the battery itself. It really isn't that hard. I didn't even need to unplug the fuel plug connector though on the right side. The hose on the right side just need to be un hooked from their hooks on the under side of the tank.

    You can just pull the breather hose on the tank end.

  • @slntdth42
    @slntdth42  14 ปีที่แล้ว

    It's a cheap stand. I dont' remember the brand but I think it's Lockhart Phillips or something like that, they are not that good really, but works fine.
    For good stand, look for pit bull, they are build like a tank. There's no official spool mount on the little duc. But you can buy rear axle slider that acts as spool for easy lifts.
    Good luck!

    How come you did not want to use the ducati factory plug? Cost? I know the ducati tenders are very expensive. I have a 2010 696 monster and am just getting ready to think about a tender.

    @bakidge Ummm... no, you do it once. Or if you want to shell out for the Ducati-branded charger then you don't even have to do anything just plug right into the existing connector.

    • @bmwrider-nl8in
      @bmwrider-nl8in 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      YOU CAN FISH THE CABLE FOR THE OEM BATTERY CHARGER OUT FROM UNDER THE TANK ON THE LEFT SIDE. THERE IS AN ADAPTER CABLE YOU CAN PURCHASE ON EBAY WHICH WILL ADAPT THE OEM CABLE GOING FROM THE BATTERY AND WILL CONNECT TO THE "BATTERY TENDER". WITHOUT GOING THRU ALL OF THE LABOR,HOWEVER IF YOU REPLACE THE BATTERY YOU WILL HAVE TO REMOVE THE PANELS AND LIFT THE TANK.

    Yeah, only if I really did my homework I wouldn't have bought an Monster Evo. The bitch gets way to hot in stop and go traffic, holds at 2000rpm during idle for 15 sec when the bike is hot, stalls when up and down shifting on the highway, battery under the tank, and air filter.
