Poor Hornady... Federal is hogging all of the fast powders
For one that’s a old box of ammo
Haha
@@hopefulballistics wish 270wsm still cost 38.99
This is great lol
I love how people beat on the 6.8 western and the 270 win these cartridges are tried and proven by more old time hunters that are around me. Yes more times out of any ull see lots of 270 win owners 7mm 08 308win and 30 06 243 win for deer hunting the most seen in the woods around me or talked about with buddies using to hunt with to 300 yards 270 win
My Winchester 70 Featherweight in 270 WSM is extremely accurate! (140 Accubonds/Reloader 19/Federal 215) I believe the 270 WSM is one of those cartridges that usually shoots very well.
It is one of my most accurate rifles; what kind of velocity do you get with your reloads and 140's?
@@Wheelchair-bear I haven't choreographed it. I'm pretty sure it doesn't have moss growing on it. lol
All the WSM’s shoot well in most rifles especially reloading
I agree
I love my 270 wsm just cannot find ammo
My Browning A-Bolt 270 WSM Max load IMR 4350 with 130 grain Nosler partition. Cci mag rigle priners gives me sub moa groups. -- they work so well, i javnt even tried to work up a load for the 140 or 150.grain bullets.
@@jwdundon nice!
270 wsm is a great cartridge been filling my freezer for at least 25 years
Right on!
Don't think it's been out 25 years yet. 🤔
270 wsm was introduced 23 years ago
Great results . A friend of mine has a WSM trio; 140’s in 270, 160’s in 7MM and 165’s in 300. All have very respectable velocity, accuracy, and on game performance.
That’s great!
The trophy copper is the nosler e tip, accurate in some of my rifles and a serious elk getter.
Thanks for the info
Great video, thanks for sharing your time and experience. Love the .277 and 6.8 cartridges!
Thanks for watching and commenting
The Federal Premium Trophy Bonded Bear Claw tipped 130 grain have really worked well for me, ( they are even prettier), getting 3400 fps out of a cold barrel and extremely accurate in my Browning X-Bolt. They are discontinued or not avaliable now so I might give the coppers a try.
They are good, I wish they wouldn’t have discontinued them
From what I hear, Federal Terminal Accents uses the same Bear Claw bullet. I could be wrong. Check with my wife, she'll tell you.
Great video, definitely educational. I love the 270 calibers, all of them.
Thanks for watching!
I did the same thing with my 28 nosler and it has a muzzle break on it and man did that hurt. I pulled the shot about 4 1/2 inches to the right so I’m with you on your first shot
Thanks, that makes me feel more confident in the shot being pulled.
Good stuff I think I am going to try that round in my tikka know. Great video
@@LaneTaylor-s1m thanks!
You do a GREAT job with your videos! Keep up the good work!
Thank you very much!
Time to move to gel. Reviews in gel like Mason Leather does is neat.
Sincerely believe ballistic gel for select offerings has a lot of merit. Some content creators have a true niche here. I enjoy your videos for data and awareness!! BUT - Gel has its place.
Currently have a xpr stealth in 270wsm
Shooting .655 at 100 with federal fusions 150gr
@@920Tactical sweet!
My favorite caliber!
Nice!
@@hopefulballistics too bad it never really caught on commercially , but I’ve been hand loading it forever. Idk I think someone has something against 277 caliber or something, 6.8 western is another great one that looks like it’s pretty much going to be dead before it ever even takes off.
I just wish I could find trophy coppers in 180gr 06. I’ve been looking for them for three years, extremely accurate in my Brownjng, so much so the old 06 is still my favourite dance partner.
I hope you find some
Good video, keep the good work!
Thanks, will do!
Thanks Roy cause people on gunbroker crazy wanting 150 to 175 a box
That’s why you reload and use 300wsm brass🤔😳
Really? Wow
That's the ammo my Sako 75 Finnlight like and it's deadly on games, the problem is I "CAN NOT" find them ammo any more.
I hear you
Own a Kimber Montana in 270 WSM, never shot this load. Thanks
Nice rifle
Smokin' fast factory load - the deer ain't gonna like those
That’s right
Those loads shoot well out of my 2506 , my 243 they suck 3/4 for one 2.5 inch groups for the other
Interesting, thanks
My 270wsm loves 140 Acubond over 62.1 Acurate 3100
I’ve got some of those bullets to test.
How do the Federal compare to the XPs you have. I purchased a few boxes of the XP copper after you bought yours. I hope they work as well. Not a bad group either, not bad.
Slightly better velocity out of the Federal.
Do they make that load in 150 grains? Thanks for this video . Cheers !
Honestly I’m not sure. I’d have to look into that
What the heck happened to the velocity? 100 fps loss in the hot barrel seems absurd!
True, that was weird
Nice and spicey
Yes!
Any help with the 85 gr 270 wsm? I tried Hunter and it was all over the place.
You might try IMR 4350. I believe I got 3600 in a video with that powder and 85 grain Barnes. And I wasn’t even pushing it

Do yall think the 270 wsm will survive in the future ? And still be here, l think its a good one, but long range high bc is all the rage its like a new magnum craze.
Honestly I’m not certain of the 270 wsm or the 6.8 western. Both great cartridges, however.
@hopefulballistics .. from what I have read and even watched on some videos, the PRC's have exaggerated ballistics..
I have no idea why Winchester/Browning doesn't advertise the 270wsm and the 6.8 Western. They're great cartridges. At least I think so.. I have one each NIB that I planned to use. Dew to health reasons, I have to have someone take me hunting and fishing..
those 130s?
Yes
Sadly I feel the venerable 270 Win just died a bit more.
Not really because you can’t get the ammo you can’t shoot the rifle🤔😳 The 270 isn’t going anywhere anytime soon! I have had about 30 or more 270 wins over the last 60+ years collecting and I have 2 in at the smiths right now being made! Not only that but you can make 270 brass from the 25-06, 280 rem, and 30-06 so no worries about brass not being available 🤔😳
Probably not. I’d say it’s here to stay.
I can find 15 different factory loads for my 270 win at any store in shop. My brother has to try and order ammo for his wsm the old 270 win still sells like hot cakes at local gun stores
Hahaha. That's rich! 😅
It's good to see your 6.8 Western wannabe likes those bullets. 😅
The 6.8 is a DOA cartridge you just haven’t realized it yet. In my 60+ years of reloading hunting and collecting rifles I have seen cartridges come and go and without the rifles being available and the brass and ammo being available a cartridge CANT go anywhere period!
Lol
ADG has announced it will make 6.8 W brass.
