A front 5 of Pelé, Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Maradona and Garrincha would be chaotic on the pitch but your picks make sense on a theoretical level.
Would be pretty chaotic off the pitch too.
unbalanced lineup
Puskas and Di Stefano streets ahead of Maradona and Garrincha.
Nah, switch pele for someone else. Same with maradona, he's nothing but a fraud

Buffon over Neuer is diabolical work
Yea I agree
difference in longevity is diabolical work mate, although neuers peak is probably higher
Yea If you don’t know football
Buffon > Neuer all day
In the light of Georgia qualifying for their first major tournament in history, could you make a video about Georgian football? Or even a video about Georgian Football in the USSR considering the fact that 60s-80s were the golden era of football in Georgia
Thank you for the magnificent content Alfie
Video idea: 7 Strikers who never scored (played a lot of games leading the line but barely ever scored. So would be across their whole careers but Kevin Davies played 70 times for Preston to the tune of 4 goals)
nah
That Barca team truly was insane, not just because of Messi.
Honestly, I think Messi is overrated. I rate Xavi and Iniesta higher.
@@yoloswaggins7121if messinis overrated then what would we call Ronaldo🤡🤡🤡🤡
@@shaquillethomas1544 You people are so obsessed it's honestly pathetic.

The disrespect on Andres Iniesta is crazyyyyy

Top class as ever!
Wonderful to see Carlisle United at the start! Back in the 20th we beat Manchester City 1-3 at their place.
This was early 1985. Jimmy Hill praised City’s neat passing style but their lack of penetration and a need for a ‘big man up front to finish the chances’, over 30 years later Harland joins!
Carlisle United showed city the way!!!
Prepare for fights down below, another great video as always Alfie 👍
As much as we rate Ronaldihno, i think huge part of it was his aura/flair. imo, Modric, iniesta, heck even Kaka are way deserving of that spot over Ronaldihno..
His peak basically breathed new life into football though. He was doing silly things on the pitch and still winning everything. On an impact level that’s pretty unique and important especially for millennials and below.
Pfff Kaká above Ronaldinho
The things I read online...
i think what Alfie said is that initially he thought that Ronaldinho wouldn't top the attacking midfield 7, but the more he looked, the more it became harder to ignore how good he actually was, even despite his lack of longevity
Stick to cricket clown.
Not even a mention of John Terry, Ricardo Carvalho, Paul Scholes, Steven Gerrard, Frank Lampard, Kevin De Bruyne and Petr Cech? Wow!

Imagine a match between the 1st place starting 11 vs the 2nd place starting 11. That would be crazy ☠️
Under the thought that you took Buffon over Neuer due to the amount of games I would genuinely have to think about taking Müller for the number 10 if you just take numbers and trophys he's nr1 even though he can't hang with Kaka and Ronaldinho in their respective peeks.
I cant believe anyone genuinely puts Buffon over Neuer at this point wtf. Neuer won more and was more influential. Silly take by Alfie
@@auranewaters9574Never, Buffon clears
@@BlandSockProbably blinded by nostalgia. Buffon and Neuer are pretty much on the same level in terms of traditional goal keeping but Neuer is clearly the better modern keeper. He also won more and will probably have the same longevity soon. I dont think this should even be a question.

Sure these players were all the standout in their teams, but a team like this would never work. There’s a reason the best ever Barca team had Pedro, Villa and Mascherano
You are talking like villa isn't one of the best ever strikers that ever graced the game. He was at least top 10 in the last 20 years.
lmao villa was world class at Barca and Mascherano and Pedro weren't exactly slouches...
nah i think Alfie made the list in such a way so that any 11 made from them would at least be functional enough. you have defensive midfielders and elite defenders in there. Sure it wouldn't work without other players who'd complete the squad, but the 11 does work well enough
@@yethir2609 Where in the top 10 would you put Villa? We have players like Aguero, Zlatan, Suarez, Lewandowski, Rooney, Benzema, Henry, Neymar, Van Persie and Fernando Torres. Possibly CR7, Haaland and Mbappe if you consider them strikers or old enough. Villa would have to compete with the likes of Aguero, Van Persie, Rooney and Torres for a spot in the top 10 IF you don't consider CR7 Haaland and Mbappe.
Definitely above van Persie, this guy was pivotal in their world Cup win scoring most of their goals, helped in both euros and definitely was amazing in Barcelona and Atletico too. Definitely even close to Aguero

Does anyone else think that Luis Suarez, as much as everyone knows he was brilliant, is heavily underrated? I could swear I looked at a list of the top 100 ever players and he wasn’t even on it whilst Thierry Henry was something like 30th
I get you. Especially his Liverpool form because he essentially had no help. However, Thierrys overall game was crazy tho. He could play-make (20+ goals & 20 assists in ‘03), had crazy pace, do it on the wing and won at international level. So I don’t think we can diminish one in favour of the other.
He was for me the best player from 2014 to 2016 maybe. He was just unlucky that his peak was at really average Liverpool side that wasn't even in the Champions league. Also he moved to Barca at like 26,7 I think so a big part of his peak was spent at Ajax and at an average Liverpool.
@@stefan5730 Nah his peak wasn't at Ajax. He was still growing. His peak was his Liverpool days and first couple of seasons at Barcelona.

Love seeing Buffon here.
I don't think R9, Zidane and Maldini should be here because they played their best football before 2000.
Roberto Carlos should be ranked ahead of Maldini under that premise.
Strange how underrated RC has become.
I love that Luis is your top pick, what he did at Liverpool (without the stars alongside he had at Barca) was consistently unbelievable.
Busquets was a great player and underrated during his heyday due to playing with Xavi and Inesta, but he had weaknesses in his game that got exposed as the game evolved to more physically demanding and pressing ways. In the top 30 but not top XI material imho.
For me he was the most overrated player in history. Zero stamina, average passing, did a few fancy moves here and there and people hail him as the best ever. Just because he played with legends like Messi, Suarez, Villa...

@@stefan5730it’s his grace, people couldn’t get near him, he had excellent short passing and was incredible at keeping possession which allowed prime Barca to be prime Barca. It could be interesting to see the greatest eleven to play between 1900 and 1950.

Over who? Kroos isn’t even better than Modric, let alone Iniesta
@@SomhiAustin Modric ain't a European or World Cup winner. He did overachieve with Croatia true, but others did that as well like Bale with Wales. And Croatia had once another golden generation besides the recent one so he's not even first to do it for his country even. And by now I'd have Kroos over Iniesta. The fall of Panathinaikos
Not Van Dijk on the thumbnail though
I'm loving the greatest XI series, since we have 3 decades of premier league I would love to know the greatest XI from each decades, no overlapping players.
And you insist on not mentioning Porto's EUFA & CL run. The most impressive achievement since 2000 without a doubt.
haha good one
Leicester's Premier League win was more impressive.
Clarence seedorf not being mentioned in these XI's is nothing short of criminal he's literally the only player on the same level as Zidane during they're playing days
South america 11 vs europe 11
Both of all time, 2000s and present
That’s a very good shout
Not gonna lie, I saw Van Dijk in the thumbnail and was worried for a bit there.
You have to decide who is the greatest goal scorer from the 21st century. First you say Messi, couple minutes later you say Ronaldo...
Ashley Cole instead of Marcelo is just laughable and personally, I would put Cannavaro (or Nesta, although he was a more elegant, technical and tall CB, he had many injuries. Cannavaro was always more consistent and was the face of Italy's 06 wc win) instead of Puyol.
This video proves how much of the last 2 decades, all the financial power and world's best players were found in La Liga (as was with Serie A the decades before that) but with very little backlash faced by La Liga as is being faced by the Premier League right now
Neuer finished 3rd in Balon Dor voting, the Lev Yashin stat is incorrect for Buffons inclusion.
Dickriding Cole like that is crazy don’t forget Ronaldo made Cole do a split on the pitch 🤣🤣
I'm going to have to go back and watch your centre back video, but I have to say that including anyone (especially Nesta) over Fabio Cannavaro is an incredibly egregious decision. How many other centre backs won the Ballon D'Or since 2000?
Buffon, Thuram, Nesta, Vidic, Ash Cole, Busquets, CR7, Bale, Kaka, Messi, Ronaldinho
If you had to go back and update your 100 Greatest Footballers list would you add anyone recent?
Make a video about the rise of the jordanian national team
Can you make a video about the Disgrace of Gijon, also known as the Non Agression Pact of Gijon?
@HITC Sevens please make a video on the top 7 most scrutinized positions in world football. I thought of this after remembering Gary Neville saying the goalkeeper of Manchester United is the world's most scrutinized position, but is it? What about the striker of Real Madrid? What about if a team wins the World Cup then they enter the next World Cup 4 years later... surely the star of the previous World Cup winning team would have a bit of pressure on his shoulders? What about players that simply cost an insane amount like Neymar to PSG in 2019? It could cover a lot of variables which is why you should make the video! All time most scrutinized positions, club or country, any year, any player age etc. It would be a fascinating video anyway.
Alfie, I think you should do a video on Jefferson Louis
I would probably get a lot of shit for this, and it is weird to say that about a player who was for 2 years the best player on the planet and had magic at his feet, but Ronaldinho was a bit overrated. For starters, he was a forward, so favoring him over central midfield magicians like Modric and Iniesta is off to begin with. Problem is for me they should be ahead of him anyway. Instead Modric, a Ballon D'Or winner, 5 times CL champion and still a magician at 38, is not even on the second tier list...
Ronaldinho was at his absolute best for 4 years. In 2002 WC he was very good, but besides that goal against England he was completely overshadowed by Ronaldo. In PSG he was brilliant, but not in a way that carried PSG anywhere. In Barca he was amazing for 4 years, but even then he didn't actually lead Brazil. From 2008 (age 28) onwards he gradually became a shadow of his former self.
Again, there's no denying he was the best in the world at some point and that he's one of the best players of all time, but he has a place in this squad it's instead of Suarez.
Video idea: 7 funnies coincidences
This international break saw the two fastest goals ever scored in international matches within the span of just a few hours (Baumgartner for Austria, Wirtz for Germany) which is a ridiculous coincidence. There are probably similarly weird stories out there just waiting to be bundled into a video.
It's close but i would put R9 as center forward. Even after his knee injuries what he did for Brazil and Real Madrid was amazing
I wonder what Alfie would have to say about the official greatest xi published by FIFA ballon d’or. IIRC they published 3 teams with the first team having an attacking lineup of Maradona, Messi, CR7, Pele and R9.
Finally someone did justice to the best striker of all time Luis Suárez 🥶🐺🔥⛈️

Literally how
Only r10 am is very weird
Impressive! 11 players: 5 of them are spanish, 6 played for Barça, 8 played for a spanish club, 8 won a world cup, 8 won a continental trophy and 6 won both. Only Buffon didn't win the Champions League but won the C3. And 4 played for PSG but let's not mention that except for Ronaldinho 😂I wanted to have a little fun (yes) so I counted the trophies: Buffon 29, Lahm 22, Ramos 29, Puyol 23, Cole 16 (clearly a weak link here, only 16 trophies??), Busquets 35, Xavi 32 (player) and 9 (manager), Ronaldinho 13 (ouch), CR7 34, Messi 44 and Suarez 23. 300 trophies, obvisously a not very interesting metric since we have no context.
day 1 of asking for a video about the 2023 asian cup and the controversy of the final
This is something small but wouldn't it havebeen better to put Dinho on the left considering he did play in that area, and Xavi played on the right. Tactically makes more sense too, allowing CR7 to go inside
Ashley Cole over Marcelo lmaoooo
