Brother, your name is long & not very catchy. Consider changing to something everyone can remember...something like "Football 'eritage" (or any name you could build a brand around). Keep up the great work, I'm a fan. Hope to see you move on from HITC in the near future 👍
...or perhaps 'Much Adu about Football' 🙃 If you hold a competition to name this channel, then not only will you get engagement for your switch from HITC, but everyone will be aware of this channel (and the correct spelling!)
@@pentu7738 You should better knock it off; trying to be the clever one. The stadium has experienced many occasions over the decades with higher attendances than "your" 65 Grand. One example for all; in 1985 during the sixth Spartakiad the building welcomed more than 1,206,000 spectators over the course of two days and four shows. Meaning that each individual show was visited on average by 301,500 people. That also means that the individual attendances went above the stadium's official/recommended capacity of 250,000. This was possible largely because of the stands' being mostly allocated for standing room whilst also sporting "only" 56,000 seats. And this was only one (or actually four) of quite a few events when the "full house" was achieved or even surpassed. Anyway, while I am at it, here are three more random examples (music concerts for a change): The Rolling Stones (1990) - 100,000+ visitors Pink Floyd (1994) - 120,000 The Rolling Stones (1995) - 127,000 So you like "facts", yeah? 😀 😀 😛
What's happening, Where's the list of 7 football related things, where all the pictures gone. I'm scared and confused. Why is there a handsome man talking to me now. I just realised Alfie said he'd use this channel if he ever got sacked from 7's... please tell me this man still has a job
Hi Alfie, as your fan from Czech rep and also Prague citizen I gotta give you props for the research on czech history and some of the pronunciation of czech words. "Fun" fact, you were correct that Prague was less heavily bombed than other cities, but it was in 1945 and couple of historic building were destroyed. Ironically it was bombed by an accident by the US army, when they mistook it for Dresden.
This is football heritage ...am I talking about Alfie in general, the fact that this is the first video on this channel, the subject of the video, or the video itself? Uhhh... Yes.
As a Brazilian expat living in Prague, I was really happy to see you coming to Czech Republic and visiting the Strahov. It is equally a great piece of engineering and a great piece of History itself.
Stadion Plovdiv is worth a visit in a similar sense. Mostly abandoned and left to crumble, it’s a 55k seater which is now only used for some local athletics training. Not sure if there’s anyone who could officially let you in, but you can easily freely wander around as it’s left open for locals to use the track.
Before I had kids,I used to while away my time on google earth and I've been fascinated by this building/structure ever since. Thanks for educating me.
I wonder if they have any urban legends/campfire stories of the abandoned stands passed between the Sparta Praha youth academy pupils or some kind of tradition or right of pasaage when they sneak out and go there exploring
I still remember when Sparta built and opened there the academy and training grounds some 20 years ago. The facilities were brand-new, modern, quite nice, and . . . . . . they stood in the middle of friggin' dilapidated ruins. Just crumbling RUINS!!! 😀 All that contrast.... I found it very strange and I still do even today. Plus, just imagine that you are someone who doesn't know the history of the place and the context, and arrives to train there for the very first time; like the West Ham United players, for example. You'd probably go like, "What the heck is this place? Why did they build it in here? What happened here?" 😀 😀
Great video. I live in Prague and this taught me some stuff about my city. Strahov is indeed a strange part of the city. It feels like you are much further East. It's also a terrible waste of space in a city with a housing shortage BTW, in Czech, 'c' is pronounced /ts/ so the smaller stadium is /roʒitskeho/
I used to play for Sparta Prague until the U17’s and let me tell you training in this facility was absolutely insane. They recently renovated the main building. Love the history bit, made no mistakes!
I think this is the first video on this channel I've watch after being subscribed for like 2 years. Pretty embarassing by me given how good this channel is
Jeez, I sure loved watching the coin thing at the end. All the talk about that polish race track or whatever sucked, but I'll sure be back for some sweet, sweet coin rollage!
Love Prague, went last year for the first time and got to watch the Sparta vs Aris Limassol Europa League match, atmosphere was incredible and it was a brilliant game too.
I remember spotting this stadium whilst walking around the nearby observation tower. The sheer size made me spend the rest of the afternoon reading up on it whilst site seeing around Prague
Thoroughly enjoyed this Alfie! Felt strange seeing you dictate so much of it though, like when you finally see a radio dj you've listened to for years 😜
I don't know about getting an M.O.T but cars are definitely repaired at Central Park in Cowdenbeath. You should visit that stadium. A beautiful place of the world.
I was writing a similar comment about Barrow AFC's Holker Street. I'm not sure you can get a full MOT there but there is a garage built into one of the stands that does repairs and is a bodywork specialist. Perhaps this type of arrangement is more common than we might assume?
Just more of this! I love the calm energy of the video, all the history, facts and giving your opinion. I hope to see you visit more interesting places.
I really like the historical research you conducted for making this film and all the infos you put in there on the 1920s and 30s, it really gives the right context for this unique structure. With Sparta Praha just announcing that they will build a new 35 000 seat stadium on the grounds of the now defunct Stadion Evžena Rošického, quite a bit of investment will go into the site (and also Strahov) during the coming years.
This was an eye opener, I've been to Prague several times, love the city. The castle and the Strahov Monastery are near this place, both of which I've been to more than once, and yet I never knew this enormous stadium existed. Just as informative and well researched as your HITC Sevens stuff, even though presumably you had to do all this research solo. Pretty damn good first video.
so happy he finally uploaded to this channel, I like this long form, on location filming about niche football topics wonder if Alfie will do just football related videos on this channel, or expand to other topics? Most of this story wasn’t football related tbh and I throughly enjoyed it, reminds me of Stunt Pegg or Tim Traveller, and that’s a very good thing
"You might be wondering 'why is the world's biggest stadium in Prague?'." No, I'm wondering why this sexy young fella is on my screen and Freddy Adu isn't. I'm scared and confused
i went here 2 years ago with my friend and when we entered we couldn’t see anyone there so we just climbed around the whole stadium. perhaps not the safest thing i’ve done lol
Well that was a fantastic history lesson & despite being the biggest football stadium I have never heard of it before. Speaking off stadiums now that my team Oxford United are in the championship if I can get time & the right weekend I shell be visiting Hull City stadium just for you & for me
Last night my 5 year old daughter randomly asked what was the biggest stadium in the world (we recently took her to Wembley to watch the women's F.A cup final). Now I can show her this video today lol (or at least the key points as I doubt she would sit through the whole half hour)
Just want to say a huge thanks to all of you for watching, subscribing, and commenting. The response has been overwhelming and I really appreciate it.
Well chuffed for you Alfie. You've earned it mate! 🎂

The 2nd channel finally has got a video, after 2 years of constantly promoting it
I mean, briliant strategy!
Undeniable.

Yes
Without further Adu, here comes Alfie ....
Watmore, it's still football content
Maaaan, I knew when he said "without further hesitation" yesterday, that Freddie would feature in the video

Hoever...
Fuchs' sake
Genuinely nice bloke. He should start a football channel with documentaries and top 7s
That is a game breaking idea! I bet it would get o er half a million followers in about 5-6 years!

My misses would drop everything, including her knickers, for Alfie.

Almost as pretty too.
not true, it's over 8 minutes long

This is my favourite part of Alfie's videos, history, politics, and sports all together.
the big problem that he hates facts.. the stadiums record attendance was 65k in 1964

He still has a job, he just decided to release a video on this channel now
Sorry, we need to talk about the biggest stadium
I’ve only been subscribed for about two years to get a video 🎉
Is Alfie turning into the Football version of Tom Scott (but long form)? I am all here for it
There is a Tom Scott sized hole on this site at the moment.
